  • Patent number: 11229122
Abstract: Techniques are described for an electronic device to increase the exposure of the externally bound components, such as sensors and antennas, which performance is improved by such exposure. A flexible printed circuit board (PCB) is affixed to the top surface of the device's enclosure, thereby placing the flexible PCB outside of the enclosure. Externally bound component(s) are integrated onto the flexible PCB, which has multiple layers, including an interface layer and a spacer layer. The spacer layer has an aperture extending through the layer at the locations corresponding to the externally bound components, thereby exposing the externally bound component's surface.

  • Patent number: 11226623
Abstract: The technology relates to determining whether a vehicle operating in an autonomous driving mode is experiencing an anomalous condition, for instance due to a loss of tire pressure, a mechanical failure, or a shift or loss of cargo. The actual current pose of the vehicle is compared to an expected pose of the vehicle, where the expected pose is based on a model of the vehicle. If a pose discrepancy is identified, the anomalous condition is determined from information associated with the pose discrepancy. The vehicle is then able to take corrective action based on the nature of the anomalous condition. The corrective action may include making a real-time driving change, modifying a planned route, alerting a remote operations center, or communicating with one or more other vehicles.

  • Patent number: 11224776
Abstract: A terminal fixture is provided for installation at the end of each sprinkler head drop in a fire protection system. The terminal fixture is an automatic valve device that operates in response to the installation or removal of a sprinkler head from the fixture itself. When the sprinkler head is removed the terminal valve operates to close the end of the sprinkler drop feed line to prevent flow of fire protection fluid by preventing an open system. When a sprinkler head is reinstalled into the valve, the valve plunger is automatically displaced to an open position to restore full and unobstructed flow to the sprinkler head returning the drop to full and operable status. In this manner, no manual valves are added to the system which would prevent failsafe operation thereof.
