Abstract: A technique operates multiple data storage tiers including a solid state drive (SSD) storage tier having SSD storage components and a hard disk drive (HDD) storage tier having magnetic disk devices. The technique involves establishing write quotas for the SSD storage components of the SSD storage tier. Each write quota identifies an amount of data that is permitted to be written to a respective SSD storage component during a predefined amount of time. The technique further involves consuming the write quotas in response to write operations performed on the SSD storage components of the SSD storage tier. The technique further involves, in response to a particular write quota for a particular SSD storage component of the SSD storage tier becoming fully consumed, performing a set of remedial activities on the multiple storage tiers to protect operation of the particular SSD storage component of the SSD storage tier.

Abstract: Systems and methods for pairing for-hire vehicles with their associated medallion are disclosed. Some for-hire vehicles, such as taxis operate with a for-hire vehicle meter (taximeter). In some embodiments, the meter contains an identifier of a medallion that is associated with the meter. The meter may then determine if it is connected or properly associated with the medallion. If the meter is connected or properly associated with the medallion, it will then access the identification information of the medallion and determine if identification information matches its contained medallion identifier. If the identification information does not match, the meter may shut down and thereafter be non-engageable. The relationship between the medallion and the meter is advantageously used to enforce restrictions on the operation of the for-hire vehicle including, for example, time and location of pick-up restrictions.

Abstract: A coating provides a high solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) and a low overall heat transfer coefficient (U-value) to trap and retain solar heat. The coating and coated article are particularly useful for use in architectural transparencies in northern climates. The coating includes a first dielectric layer; a continuous metallic layer formed over at least a portion of the first dielectric layer, the metallic layer having a thickness less than 8 nm; a primer layer formed over at least a portion of the metallic layer; a second dielectric layer formed over at least a portion of the primer layer; and an overcoat formed over at least a portion of the second dielectric layer. When used on a No. 3 surface of a reference IGU, the coating provides a SHGC of greater than or equal to 0.6 and a U-value of less than or equal to 0.35.

Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses for highlighting media through weighting of people or contexts are described. This document describes techniques that allow a user to quickly and easily highlight media, such as through generating a highlight reel. The techniques also enable selection of context and person weightings by which to tailor highlight reels.

Abstract: A material handling system has a vertical lift two vertically aligned carriages that are independently positionable on a vertical support structure by respective drive systems. A processor subsystem selects one of the two carriages to move an article from at least one in-feed conveyor to a selected level of an automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS). The processor subsystem concurrently positions the other carriage to avoid a collision.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for closing a patent foramen ovale. Some of the disclosed apparatuses include an elongate body having a proximal end and a distal end, with first and second suture clasp arms adapted to hold end portions of a suture when in an extended position. A first suture catch mechanism is slidably housed in the elongate body and moves in a proximal-to-distal direction to engage the suture end held by the first suture clasp arm, and a second suture catch mechanism is slidably housed in the elongate body and moves in a distal-to-proximal direction to suture end held by the second suture clasp arm. The first suture clasp arm can be positioned around the septum primum to deliver a suture thereto, and the second suture clasp arm can be positioned around the septum secundum to deliver a suture thereto.

Abstract: Methods for encasing bodies including smokeless tobacco or a tobacco substitute with a polymeric casing can include coating a compressed body with microfibers, applying tubular casings to compressed bodies, printing netting and webs on compressed bodies, injection molding around compressed bodies, applying a webbing to compressed bodies, placing compressed bodies into a skin forming bath, and including thermoplastic polymers in a compressed body.

Abstract: A tool for reforming printed circuit board backplane connector pins on a rod control system. The pin reforming tool of this invention is aligned into a card cage using existing card guides and locates itself around the backplane connector. The tool uses a uniquely designed die (that can be set up for one or multiple pin applications) that precisely engages into the connector and around the pin or pins to be reformed, with the assistance of a zig zag alignment guide matched specifically for the pin spacing. A consistent reforming force is applied via a force applicator structured to provide a force of a preselected magnitude.

Abstract: A disclosed sentiment topic modeling tool identifies issues within voluminous customer review data, based on particular categories of review submission (e.g., particular products and experiences) and concern areas (e.g., quality, performance, suitability of features), and abstracts the extracted topic data into a manageable set of focus areas for business operations improvements. An exemplary process includes: receiving a plurality of reviews; selecting a category of review to use for a topic network; selecting a number of topics for generating the topic network; generating, based at least on the selected category and the selected number of topics, the topic network; generating a plurality of topic networks in a topic network group, and determining a set of themes for the group. Additional network groups are generated, and a set of themes is determined for each. A set of focus areas is determined, based at least on the sets, and reports are generated.

Abstract: Compositions that include extracts from sources of immune modulators that include nanofraction immune modulator molecules (i.e., molecules having molecular weights of about 3,000 Da and less) are disclosed. These compositions may also include other immune modulators, such as transfer factor. Administration of compositions with extracts that include nanofraction immune modulator molecules modulates the cell-mediated immunity (e.g., down-regulates undesired T cell activity) of a subject to which such compositions are administered. When administered with transfer factor, the combination of nanofraction immune modulator molecules and transfer factor down-regulates undesired T cell activity while increasing, or up-regulating, T cell activity against pathogens and other undesirable entities, such as cancer cells and other aberrant or mutated cells. Assays and assay techniques for evaluating the immune modulation capabilities of various substances are also disclosed.

The fluid line connector includes a body, a radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag, one or more actuator members, and one or more switches. The body has a passage for fluid-flow therethrough. The RFID tag can communicate with an RFID interrogator. The actuator member(s) changes the state of the switch(es) when the actuator member(s) actuates. The switch(es) is electrically coupled with the RFID tag.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for replicating a remote venue in a local venue. An embodiment operates by receiving original audio. Thereafter, the original stream of audio is modified to produce modified audio based on an audio profile unique to a remote venue smaller than the local venue. The audio profile comprises a virtual representation of the remote venue including (i) a virtual audio source corresponding to the local venue's audio source and configured to produce the original audio and (ii) a virtual reverberation point corresponding to a real-world location in the remote venue and the portion of the local venue. As such, the modified audio is determined based on receipt of the original audio from the reverberation point. Thus, after correlating the modified audio to the local venue's audio source, the modified audio is provided by the audio source to the portion of the local venue.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to creating and maintaining a separate compliance store within a domain. Files that are committed within the domain are linked to the compliance store using canonical links. Canonical links are guaranteed to be non-erasable and non-rewritable for the duration of their retention period. When using a source cluster of nodes as a primary production cluster and a target cluster of nodes as a backup cluster, file data and canonical links can be synced from the source cluster to the target cluster to maintain compliance with data retention rules. Non-canonical links can be modified as necessary to ensure snapshot consistency when failover or failback occurs between a source cluster of nodes and a target cluster of nodes.

Abstract: A method includes identifying two or more vulnerabilities, each vulnerability affecting a set of one or more assets of an enterprise system. The method also includes assigning a weight to each vulnerability, the weight assigned to each of the vulnerabilities being based at least in part on the set of assets affected by that vulnerability, asset criticalities associated with the set of assets affected by that vulnerability, and at least one of (i) an exploitability potential of that vulnerability and (ii) an impact potential of that vulnerability. The method further includes determining an order in which to apply remediation actions in the enterprise system to address at least one of the vulnerabilities based at least in part on the weights assigned to the vulnerabilities, and applying, in accordance with the determined order, at least one of the remediation actions to at least one of the assets in the enterprise system.

In some embodiments, a system comprising a flag and a wearable item is configured to detect that contact between a first connector and a second connector has been broken and to automatically indicate a location associated with the contact being broken.

Abstract: Secure, controlled, interactive virtual visitation for confinement institution inmates is provided using computing devices connected through a network by managing the scheduling of visitation sessions and use of shared visitation session resources, ensuring the identities of the inmate and the person with whom the inmate is to interact in the virtual visitation session, and by monitoring the interactions and communications during the virtual visitation sessions to detect prohibited activities. Another embodiment of the invention uses a virtual desktop shared from a remote server to ensure that an inmate does not have access to prohibited applications or content during a virtual visitation session.

Abstract: An agricultural system includes a carrier configured to transport an agricultural cart to a position proximate to or within an agricultural field. The carrier includes a rotatable base and is configured to receive the agricultural cart on the rotatable base in a docking position. The carrier is configured to move the agricultural cart from the docking position to an unloading position to unload agricultural product from within the agricultural cart to a storage bin via rotation of the rotatable base.
