Abstract: A system and method for managing pedagogical content are provided. A system and method may capture a screenshot of a presentation of educational or pedagogical content and convert the captured screenshot to an image. A system and method may receive comments from a student and include the comments and image in a pedagogical element, which may be stored in the student's account and may be submitted to a teacher for review, evaluation or assessment. A system and method may receive an assessment from a teacher and may include the assessment in the pedagogical element to produce a revised pedagogical element, which may be presented to the student. A system and method may provide a snapshot tool as a Flash library included in a source code of educational content.

Abstract: A system and method for concurrently wagering on multiple past events such as sports events that may include retrieving data about multiple events that occurred in the past that included multiple participants. The data may include information about the participants as well as pre-event rankings, and final or post-event rankings ordering the results with respect to other participants in the same event. A user may adjust the pre-event rankings or accept them as-is. The user's rankings for the participants of the events may be submitted, and a prize calculated based on the difference between the predicted rankings submitted by the user, and the final rankings of the participants based on actual past events. Various terminals, terminal configurations, and user interface aspects are also disclosed.

Abstract: To obtain a relative localization between a plurality of mobile devices, a first mobile device observes a second mobile device within a field of view of the first mobile device's camera at time t1, determines a first position of the first mobile device at t1, and receives from the second mobile device a second position of the second mobile device at t1. The first mobile device determines information about the first mobile device's orientation with respect to the second mobile device at t1 based at least in part on the first position and the observation of the second mobile device. The first mobile device identifies two constraints that relate the mobile devices' coordinate systems based at least in part on the second position and the orientation information. The first mobile device's pose relative to the second mobile device may be calculated once at least six constraints are accumulated.

Abstract: Before a composition is ingested into a runtime environment at a runtime device, the composition may be verified at an authoring trusted execution environment (TEE) operating on an authoring device. A user can operate an untrusted computing platform (e.g., a personal computer, laptop computer, tablet computer, etc.) to write code, generate data, or create some other composition. Since this composition is created on an untrusted device, the authoring TEE may output the composition on a trusted peripheral device to a user for review and approval. Responsive to receiving approval at the trusted peripheral device, the authoring TEE can sign the composition with a local key and forward the composition for execution by the runtime device. The signature can be utilized by the runtime device to prove that it was reviewed and verified by an authorized user operating the authoring device.

Abstract: A solid state light sheet and method of fabricating the sheet are disclosed. In one embodiment, bare LED chips have top and bottom electrodes, where the bottom electrode is a large reflective electrode. The bottom electrodes of an array of LEDs (e.g., 500 LEDs) are bonded to an array of electrodes formed on a flexible bottom substrate. Conductive traces are formed on the bottom substrate connected to the electrodes. A transparent top substrate is then formed over the bottom substrate. Various ways to connect the LEDs in series are described along with many embodiments. In one method, the top substrate contains a conductor pattern that connects to LED electrodes and conductors on the bottom substrate.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a case having an elliptical cross-section capable of receiving a plurality of capacitive elements. One or more of the capacitive elements provide at least one capacitor having a first capacitor terminal and a second capacitor terminal. The apparatus also includes a cover assembly that includes a deformable cover mountable to the case, and, a common cover terminal having a contact extending from the cover. The cover assembly also includes at least three capacitor cover terminals, each of the at least three capacitor cover terminals having at least one contact extending from the deformable cover. The deformable cover is configured to displace at least one of the at least three capacitor cover terminals upon an operative failure of at least one of the plurality of the capacitive elements. The cover assembly also includes at least four insulation structures. One of the four insulation structures is associated with one of the at least three capacitor cover terminals.

The bracket is configured for installation and removal from the bucket without the use of a tool, and includes an inner member configured to be received by the bucket, an outer member configured to be located around portions of the inner member and the bucket, and a lock configured to extend through a portion of the inner member and the outer member when the bracket is installed onto the bucket to maintain the outer member and the inner member from moving relative to one another when installed onto the bucket.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for monitoring and removing contaminants from a conveyor surface based upon predicted frictional engagement qualities detected on a conveyor surface. In some examples, the methods may include monitoring the conveyor surface with at least one sensor configured to sense a condition on the conveyor surface. The sensor may detect the presence of a contaminant, and communicate the location of the detected contaminant to a processor. A treatment cycle may then be initiated to remove or displace the contaminant from the conveyor surface after the presence of a contaminant has been detected.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for determining a location of a vehicle or other device are disclosed. A method includes receiving sensor data from a sensor and determining a prior map comprising LIDAR intensity values. The method includes extracting a sub-region of the prior map around a hypothesis position of the sensor. The method includes extracting a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) distribution of intensity values for a region of the sensor data by expectation-maximization and calculating a log-likelihood for the sub-region of the prior map based on the GMM distribution of intensity values for the sensor data.

Abstract: An event marking device marks the real time at which notable events occur. When a notable event occurs, a user causes the event marking device to generate a trigger signal. The event marking device includes a real-time clock. When the user causes a trigger signal to be generated, a microcontroller of the event marking device reads the real-time clock and writes trigger event data to a memory indicating a real time at which the trigger signal was generated. The event marking device outputs the trigger event data to an external device.

An adjustable loop region of a flexible construct contained in a bore defined by a fastener is passed through a tissue. The adjustable loop is passed through the tissue. The fastener is passed back through the adjustable loop to fold the adjustable loop upon itself. The fastener is attached to the bone. An adjusting arm on the flexible construct is engaged to reduce the size of the adjustable loop and secure the soft tissue to the bone.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for receiving a package in a landing zone relative to a structure. The method includes receiving package information for a package to be delivered to the structure including a size of the package, defining a landing zone for the package according to the size of the package, and receiving notice that the package has arrived at the structure. In response to the notice, the method includes displaying a visual display of the landing zone, monitoring the landing zone to confirm the package is in the landing zone, and issuing a notification that the package is in the landing zone.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for improving the Weight/Duration ratio of Self Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBAs) by decreasing the amount of fresh breathing gas required from the system by saving exhaled air that is low in carbon dioxide in a reservoir and reusing it at the subsequent inhalation. Electronic control units (“ECUs”) including conventional oxygen sensors and special types of carbon dioxide sensors are used to monitor and predictably regulate the consumption of breathing gas, further contributing to a significantly lower overall system weight for any given duration of the SCBA.

Abstract: A system includes a flash tank, a first load, a second load, a first compressor, a second compressor, a first valve, and a second valve. The flash tank stores a refrigerant. The first and second loads use the refrigerant to cool first and second spaces. The first compressor compresses the refrigerant from the first load during a first mode of operation and a flash gas from the flash tank during a second mode of operation. The second compressor compresses a mixture of the refrigerant from the first and second loads during the first mode of operation. The first valve directs the flash gas from the flash tank to the first compressor during the second mode of operation. The second valve directs the compressed flash gas from the first compressor to the first load during the second mode of operation to defrost the first load.
