  • Patent number: 12184758
Abstract: A peer-to-peer (P2P) distributed data management system (DDMS) may operate as an operating system on which P2P distributed applications are utilized to manage data on distributed ledgers, such as blockchains. The DDMS may enable fast development of secure and scalable enterprise P2P distributed applications that support permanent control of every piece of data on a distributed ledger, synchronization, normalization of the data, and encryption of the data. Security of the data in the distributed ledger means that even if someone hacks into the distributed ledger, access is only gained to one block of data (e.g., single email) and not all blocks of data (e.g., entire email account). The DDMS may be integrated into Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices. The DDMS further automatically supports sequential smart contracts on the distributed ledger.

  • Patent number: 12181773
Abstract: A truncated non-linear interferometer-based sensor system includes an input port that receives an optical beam and a non-linear amplifier that amplifies the optical beam with a pump beam and renders a probe beam and a conjugate beam. The system's local oscillators have a relationship with the respective beams. The system includes a sensor that transduces an input with the probe beam and the conjugate beam or their respective local oscillators. It includes one or more phase-sensitive detectors that detect a phase modulation between the respective local oscillators and the probe beam and the conjugate beam. Output from the phase-sensitive-detectors is based on the detected phase modulation. The phase-sensor-detectors include measurement circuitry that measure the phase signals. The measurement is the sum or difference of the phase signals in which the measured combination exhibit a quantum noise reduction in an intensity difference or a phase sum or an amplitude difference quadrature.

  • Patent number: 12184072
Abstract: A node in a power distribution system is described. The node includes an electrical connection to a single-phase power signal from an AC mains power source, a wireless communication interface configured to receive a first phase synchronization message, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine whether the first phase synchronization message is acceptable and detect a zero-crossing event on the single phase power signal subsequent to the receipt of the first phase synchronization message in response to determining that the first phase synchronization message is acceptable. The controller is further configured to calculate a time difference between the receipt of the first phase synchronization signal and the detected zero-crossing event, determine a local phase angle based on the time difference, and establish an identity of the single phase power signal based on the local phase angle.

  • Patent number: 12183043
Abstract: A computing system may access first alpha values associated with first pixels in a first pixel region of an image and determine a bit budget for encoding the first alpha values. The computing system may then select a first alpha-encoding mode for the first alpha values to reflect a determination that the first alpha values are all fully transparent or all fully opaque, and encode the first alpha values by storing the selected first alpha-encoding mode as part of a metadata without using the bit budget to encode the first alpha values individually. The computing system may then update a record of unallocated bits available for allocation based on the bit budget unused in the encoding of the first alpha values, and allocate, based on the record of unallocated bits, bits to encode a set of alpha values different from the first alpha values.

  • Patent number: 12178720
Abstract: The present invention includes a novel procedure and corresponding medical devices for a Purcutaneous Spinal Interbody Fusion (PSIF). In PSIF, the surgeon performs the entire operation percutaneously without the use of a microscope, endoscope, or magnifying loupes. An adjustable retractor system is disclosed that enables the surgeon to percutaneously perform the surgery through accessing the facet joint (and later disc space) that was created by said retractor system. This retractor system provides the surgeon a safe area to work and operate without fear of damaging nerves, blood vessels, or other tissue. An expanding trial may be inserted into and removed from the disc space through the interior of the retractor system to determine the proper size for the expandable cage. The retractor system also enables the expandable cage to be inserted into the disc space.

  • Patent number: 12183175
Abstract: Systems and methods for verifying a detachment of a security tag from an article. The methods comprise: using a voltage induced in an internal circuit of the security tag by a magnetic field generated by a detaching unit to power a controller of the security tag; receiving, by the security tag, a first signal sent from the detaching unit; selectively supplying power to an electro-mechanical lock mechanism of the security tag for a certain amount of time to cause a pin to be released from a lock, in response to the first signal; and communicating, from the security tag, a second signal indicating whether or not the pin was released. The voltage is no longer induced in the internal circuit by the detaching unit when the second signal indicates that the pin was released.

  • Patent number: 12180329
Abstract: Embodiments in accordance with the present invention encompass a variety of polymers derived from polycyclic olefin monomers, such as hydrocarbon functionalized norbornenes. The polymers so formed function as ionomers and are suitable as anion exchange membrane for fabricating a variety of electrochemical devices, among others. More specifically, the ionomeric polymers used herein are derived from a variety of quaternized amino functionalized norbornene monomers and are lightly crosslinked (less than ten mol %). The membranes made therefrom exhibit very high ionic conductivity of up to 198 mS/cm at 80° C. This invention also relates to using an anion conducting solid polymer electrolyte as the ion conducting medium between the two electrodes and the ion conducting medium within the electrodes acting as the ionic conduit between electroactive material and electrolyte.
