Abstract: A method of making chlorofluorohydrocarbons including, contacting, a fluorinated hydrocarbon reagent in the vapor phase, with hydrogen chloride (HCl). The reaction is conducted in the presence of an effective amount of a catalyst, at an elevated temperature sufficient to effect hydrochlorination to form a reaction mixture including a chlorofluorohydrocarbon.

Abstract: A system, method, and smartwatch for determining an impact threshold score, inputs for height, weight, activity level, hydration information, and age of a user are received, A body mass index of the user is determined. Values for the activity level, body mass index, hydration information, and the age of the user are assigned. The impact threshold score is calculated utilizing the values. Thresholds fora smartwatch are established in response to the impact threshold score.

The array of sensors includes a plurality of sensors, each of the plurality of sensors includes respective semiconducting nanostructures with a respective capture reagent coupled to the semiconducting nanostructures that selectively binds to a respective target analyte in the sample. The array of sensors includes a first subset of sensors with first capture reagents to bind to biomarkers characteristic of a particular disease and a second subset of sensors with second capture reagents to bind to one of cytokines, chemokines, enzymes, metabolites, or antibodies present in the sample.

Abstract: A phototherapy device comprising a plurality of light sources adapted for emitting at a treatment wavelength and a contact layer, wherein the contact layer is adapted to retain a treatment fluid, the plurality of light sources are electrically isolated from treatment fluid retained by the contact layer, and the plurality of light sources are coupled to the contact layer. The plurality of light sources can be releasably coupled or permanently coupled to the contact layer. A phototherapy kit comprising the phototherapy device and instructions for selection or placement of the plurality of lights, or for selection of settings for the plurality of lights, on phototherapy device. The phototherapy device or kit can also include a liquid treatment absorbed in the contact layer or to be applied to the contact layer. A method of treating tissue, comprising applying electromagnetic radiation to tissue using the phototherapy device.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are directed to a pedal for a bicycle that includes a body, a spindle rotatably secured to the body and for connection with the bicycle, a first magnetic platter non-rotatably secured within the body, and a second magnetic platter rotatably secured within the body and overlaying the first magnetic platter. The first and second magnetic platters each include two magnetic blocks that are separated and magnetically charged by a respective permanent magnet plate positioned therebetween. The second magnetic platter includes a keyed protrusion configured to be engaged by a ferrous metal cleat, which can rotate the second magnetic platter between a first position where the pedal is in a magnetically inactive state and a second position where the pedal is in a magnetically active state magnetically securing the cleat to the second magnetic platter.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods are provided for a lightweight shrink-wrapped bottle pack. The shrink-wrapped bottle pack comprises a group of bottles arranged in a side-by-side disposition. A case wrapping film is shrink-wrapped around the group of bottles to fixate the side-by-side disposition. Holes in the case wrapping film allow top portions of the bottles to protrude through the case wrapping film. A portion of the case wrapping film surrounding each of the holes forcibly contacts a bell comprising each bottle such that the case wrapping film fixates the side-by-side disposition of the group of bottles. The holes facilitate using a shorter portion of case wrapping film than when extending the case wrapping film over the top portion of the group of bottles, producing a lighter weight bottle pack than conventionally shrink-wrapped bottle packs.

Abstract: The methods of the present invention include noninvasive methods for the isolation of antibody-producing cells from the gut and the use of the cells so-isolated to generate antibodies responsive to biomarkers for a number of health conditions. The responsive antibodies are chimeric secretory antibodies comprising IgA and IgG moieties that may be useful in the diagnosis and treatment of various health conditions after challenged with biomarkers thereof. In a preferred embodiment, stool samples may be obtained from patients suffering from HIV infection and cells may be isolated from the samples according to the methods described herein and reacted with antibodies responsive to HIV biomarkers. The diagnostic methods described herein allow for room temperature sample isolation for up to five days prior to diagnosis and are useful in detecting latent HIV that cannot be detected in blood samples. It is another object of the invention to generate therapeutic antibodies.

Abstract: A PV panel assembly includes a PV panel and a frame. The PV panel includes one or more PV cells and is operable to provide electrical power at a panel output terminal in response to operating light incident on a panel upper surface. The frame extends along the panel peripheral edge and defines a frame inside surface which, together with a lower panel surface, defines a base volume. A molded base material is located in the base volume. A light-transmissive cover material extends over the panel first surface and over at least a portion of a frame outside surface which faces away from the base volume. The PV panel assembly may be incorporated in a landscape installation and connected with other such assemblies in the installation to provide a ground mounted PV panel array which also functions as a hardscape such as a walkway or patio.

Abstract: Described herein are expandable network architectures with communication systems having multiple networks for communications between machines and implements for field operations including planting and harvesting operations. In one embodiment, a communication system includes a first communication module including at least one port of a first network, at least one input port and at least one output port of a second network, and a first network gateway to translate between a first protocol for the first network and a second protocol for the second network. A second communication module is communicatively coupled to tike first communication module. The second communication module includes at least one port of the first network, and at least at least one input port and at least one output port of the second network.

Abstract: Techniques in electronic systems, such as in systems comprising a CPU die and one or more external mixed-mode (analog) chips, may provide improvements advantages in one or more of system design, performance, cost, efficiency and programmability. In one embodiment, the CPU die comprises at least one microcontroller CPU and circuitry enabling the at least one CPU to have a full and transparent connectivity to an analog chip as if they are designed as a single chip microcontroller, while the interface design between the two is extremely efficient and with limited in number of wires, yet may provide improved performance without impact to functionality or the software model.

As an example of use, multiple friends' initials can therefore be displayed with charms positioned within each or many of the plurality of sockets forming bracelet.

Abstract: A shoe tote includes a first and a second shoe sock each with a first and second opposing side walls spaced apart by a bottom portion and a back portion. Each shoe sock has an exterior and an interior portion, designed to receive footwear. Each shoe socks contain a top portion opposing the bottom portion and a front portion opposing the back portion. Each shoe sock contains a closure mechanism. The shoe socks are separated by a strap. The strap has a first terminal end and a second terminal end. The strap further contains a first attachment disposed between the first terminal end of the strap and the first shoe sock. The strap also is comprised of a second attachment disposed between the second terminal end of the strap and the second shoe sock.

Abstract: An implant for interbody fusion of vertebrae comprising a unibody cage structure having an enveloping cage volume and a minimized material volume. The cage structure comprises a first and a second generally planar ring member, each ring member formed from an opposing pair of lengthwise joists and an opposing pair of cross joists, the joists together forming a large opening through the ring member. The ring members are fixedly sandwiched on a plurality of support members, the support members holding the ring members in a spaced apart relationship to thereby provide a large void volume relative to the enveloping cage volume, to thereby allow for receipt of a large volume of bone graft within the cage structure.

Abstract: High-growth plant cultivation techniques are provided that create efficient, optimized growing conditions, including a high concentration of photosynthetically active radiation (“PAR”) in terms of photon flux density, and with extremely low heat. In some aspects of the invention, these techniques comprise a specialized growth chamber and a control system that promote an enhanced level of growth, particularly for autoflowering cannabis. In addition, aspects of the invention create an accessible, user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing new type of display for a plant, ideal for cultivating cannabis and, in particular, autoflowering cannabis. The unique combination of techniques set forth in the invention create high yields of cannabis plant matter (up to 3 or 4 times greater than other methods) in substantially less time (just 60 days from seed to harvest).

A system includes at least one processor and a storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the at least one processor to perform operations including receiving a request to issue a card and directing the customer to insert an identification card. Proceeding with capturing identification and biometric data identifying the customer and verifying the captured identification and biometric data. The operations also include determining whether a combination of the available customer data and the received biometric data is sufficient to verify customer identity. When the combination data are sufficient to verify customer identity, the operations further include issuing a transaction card. The operations further include capturing an image of the customer and issuing a customized transaction card to the customer.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes J-Gate adaptor assemblies for motorcycle clutch levers and related systems and methods. In one illustrative embodiment, a bracket on a side of a motorcycle serves as fulcrum for a lever rod mounted thereon via a heim joint. A lower end of the rod is attached to a clutch control cable. The rod extends upwardly, through a guide member with a guide channel formed as elongated slot extending in a first direction to a bend portion that extends in another direction to a “rest portion.” The rod may be levered in one direction in the guide channel to engage the clutch and in the opposite direction to disengage it. The rod may be held in the “rest” portion of the channel to retain the clutch in a disengaged position. Conversion kits and methods of converting and adapting motorcycles for using these types of assemblies are also included.
