Abstract: Roofing panels with water shedding features may be installed on the roof of a house or other structure in lieu of or as an underlayment for traditional roofing materials. The water shedding features can be built into a base of the roofing panels, as part of a frame for the roofing panels, or formed as part of a waterproofing layer applied to the base of the roofing panels, or which can be configured as a roofing panel. The roofing panels also can be installed in overlapping courses along a roof with water shedding features applied thereto or incorporated along one or more peripheral edges. The water shedding features of adjacent roofing panels will collect and divert water away from the upper surfaces and/or away from headlap and/or sidelap joints defined between the roofing panels.

Abstract: A head mounted display (HMD) provides multiple fields of view of a single micro-display by time-multiplexing the provision of light of different polarizations. The HMD includes a micro-display, a lightguide, and a plurality of combiners coupled to the lightguide, wherein each combiner is configured to combine light of a different polarization. For example, the HMD can include two combiners, with one combiner configured to combine P-polarized light and the other combiner configured to combine S-polarized light. A polarizer switch is included in a filter stack for the lightguide, and a control module controls the switch to alternate the provision of light having P-polarization and S-polarization, respectively. The light of each polarization provides a different field of view of the micro-display.

Abstract: Amorphous silicon carbide may be doped with one or more ions such as vanadium and these ions may radiate light if excited, for example, using optical or electrical pumping. A single photon light source may be formed from a single such ion that is pumped or from a plurality of ions that are pumped if light from only one ion is collected, e.g., using an aperture or pin hole. Such single photon sources may possibly be use in quantum computing, quantum sensing and/or quantum telecommunications.

Abstract: An electronic device, method, and computer program product enable a space saving rollable display device to extend automatically in a power efficient manner. While a blade assembly is in a retracted position, a controller of the electronic device determines whether a user notification opportunity exists based on a transition between contextual states of one of stationary and changing from unattended to attended by the user; and stowed on-body of the user changing to held by the user. In response, the controller actuates a translation mechanism to slide a blade assembly, which includes a blade and flexible display, relative to a device housing of an electronic device from a retracted position to at least a partially extended position. The actuation prepares the flexible display to present user notification(s) and generates a physical indication to a user that the user notification(s) is available to be presented when the flexible display is active.

Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatuses, and computer program products are provided for updating a catalog of assets. A scanning agent may scan for a set of assets in a data store. A scan validator may receive, from the scanning agent, a list of assets scanned in the data store and determine that a summary record is received from the scanning agent. The summary record may include an asset summary generated by the scanning agent corresponding to the list of scanned assets. In response to determining that the summary record is received, the scan validator may determine whether the asset summary in the summary record matches an asset summary generated from the list of assets. If a match is determined between the asset summaries, a match validation may be provided. In response to the match validation being provided, assets absent from the list of assets may be removed from the asset catalog.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a mount featuring one or more sets of embedded magnets which are designed to engage with complimentary sets of magnets disposed either in a protective case for use with the mount, or in a mobile device contained within such a protective case. The mount includes a pin which is magnetically actuated to extend into a hole disposed in the protective case when the case and the mount are brought within a prescribed distance. Thus, the case and the mount “snap together” and are restrained from sliding relative to one another by the pin.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a method receives a request for an instance of media content in a current session. A state is retrieved for content delivery networks that is determined for a session in a set of sessions. The state includes a first set of values for a performance metric, and the first set of values is associated with the content delivery networks. The method determines a second set of values for the performance metric for the current session. The second set of values is associated with the content delivery networks. A content delivery network is selected for the request in the current session based on treating the current session as a session in the set of sessions. The session for the current session is after the session for the state in the set of sessions.

Abstract: A system, method and apparatus are described for improving video production technology. A video production server receives livestream videos from spectators at live events. The video production server creates video-on-demand presentations based on the livestream video clips. The video production server may also receive natively-created video clips of live events after live events have ended. The natively-created video clips each comprise location, date and time information as metadata. When natively-created video clips are received by the video production server, each clip is associated with a particular, past live event by comparing the location, date and time information of each clip to a database of live events identified by each event's location, date and time.

Abstract: A high pressure die casting (HPDC) system for casting ultra-large single-piece castings for vehicles. The HPDC system includes a clear feeding path from at least one ingate to a predetermined thicker section of a mold cavity, a last to solidify ingate having an equivalent or larger feeding modulus than the highest feeding modulus of the other ingates, and thermal management elements. The clear feeding path, last to solidify ingate, and thermal management elements ensure sufficient supplemental molten metal flow to the thicker portion of the mold cavity to accommodate for shrinkage of the thicker portion of an ultra large casting during the casting and solidification process.

Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine, an electric machine, a disconnect clutch, a starter motor, and a controller. The engine and electric machine are each configured to generate power to propel the vehicle. The disconnect clutch is disposed between the engine and the electric machine. The controller is programmed to, in response to a command to start the engine, operate either the disconnect clutch or the starter motor to start the engine based on a level of adaptive learning of previous disconnect clutch engagements.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a sequence of audio features characterizing an utterance and processing, using an encoder neural network, the sequence of audio features to generate a sequence of encodings. At each of a plurality of output steps, the method also includes determining a corresponding hard monotonic attention output to select an encoding from the sequence of encodings, identifying a proper subset of the sequence of encodings based on a position of the selected encoding in the sequence of encodings, and performing soft attention over the proper subset of the sequence of encodings to generate a context vector at the corresponding output step. The method also includes processing, using a decoder neural network, the context vector generated at the corresponding output step to predict a probability distribution over possible output labels at the corresponding output step.

The method comprises changing concentration of the alkane(s) in the reactor by an amount sufficient to effect a measurable change in the melt rheology property value; wherein the bimodal catalyst system is characterized by an inverse response to alkane(s) concentration such that when the alkane(s) concentration is increased, the melt rheology property value of the resulting bimodal polyethylene polymer is decreased, and when the alkane(s) concentration is decreased, the melt rheology property value of the resulting bimodal polyethylene polymer is increased.
