Abstract: The present disclosure provides for improving flame propagation in a combustor, particularly in a combustor for use in a power production system and method. At least one stream being passed into the combustor (e.g., a fuel, an oxidant, a diluent, a coolant, a working fluid, water, or steam) can be independently heated to a temperature that is about the autoignition temperature of the fuel or greater. Further, flame stabilization, including promoting ignition, can be improved as described herein through controlled addition of one or more NOx species into the combustor or combustion chamber.

Abstract: A new architecture is provided to support a precise information retrieval system on a web scale. The architecture provides algorithms to generate candidates and select the top N results via ranking models (e.g., Semantic ranking models, Aggregation ranking models) to capture term relationships between query and result contents at search-time.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to determine media viewing information for hybrid content delivery are disclosed. An example apparatus includes at least one memory, machine readable instructions, and processor circuitry to at least one of instantiate or execute the machine readable instructions to monitor network traffic associated with at least one device during a media session, determine viewing information associated with the media session based on a consumption data message in the network traffic, the consumption data message transmitted by the at least one device, determine a program identifier of primary content received by the at least one device, the program identifier indicative of a program presented as the primary content by the at least one device, associate a panelist identifier with the viewing information and the program identifier of the primary content, and generate a media session report based on the panelist identifier, the viewing information, and the program identifier.

Abstract: A system for interfacing with a cinematography battery pack includes a proximity tag module configured to control the function(s) of the cinematography battery pack. A NFC/RFID chip is configured to transmit data for the cinematography battery pack. The NFC/RFID chip is configured to receive instructions to control the function(s) of the cinematography battery pack. A microcontroller (MCU) is in communication with the NFC/RFID chip. The MCU is configured to provide the data for the cinematography battery pack to the NFC/RFID chip. The MCU is configured to receive the instructions to control the function(s) of the cinematography battery pack from the NFC/RFID chip. A proximity tag read/write device includes a control module configured to receive the data for the cinematography battery pack from the NFC/RFID chip. The control module is configured to transmit the instructions to the NFC/RFID chip to control the function(s) of the cinematography battery pack.

Abstract: A system for separation of components of a natural gas product uses a first separation column to receive the natural gas product and to provide first stage components including a first component gas, uses a gas converter to provide second stage components that includes third component gas from at least a second component gas of such first stage components, and uses a second separation column to provide third stage components that includes the first component gas, the third component gas, and one or more additional carbon-based components provided in or over a period of time associated with the separation of the components of the natural gas product.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for training quantum evolutions using sub-logical controls. In one aspect, a method includes the actions of accessing quantum hardware, wherein the quantum hardware includes a quantum system comprising one or more multi-level quantum subsystems; one or more control devices that operate on the one or more multi-level quantum subsystems according to one or more respective control parameters that relate to a parameter of a physical environment in which the multi-level quantum subsystems are located; initializing the quantum system in an initial quantum state, wherein an initial set of control parameters form a parameterization that defines the initial quantum state; obtaining one or more quantum system observables and one or more target quantum states; and iteratively training until an occurrence of a completion event.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein that are capable of using variable voltage sources to control respective thermoelectric coolers independently in a thermal testing environment. The variable voltage sources create temperature differentials between first and second opposing surfaces of the thermoelectric coolers by applying input voltages to the respective thermoelectric coolers. Heat is transferred, by first heat exchanger(s), between a fluid and respective subset(s) of the thermoelectric coolers Heat is transferred, by second heat exchanger(s), between semiconductor device(s) and the subset(s) of the thermoelectric coolers.

Abstract: A system for control of an automated device includes a control system configured to operate a device during an operating mode corresponding to a first state in which the control system automatically controls operation, the operating mode prescribing that a user monitor the device operation during automated control, and a scheduling module configured to, during the operating mode, receive a request for the user to temporarily stop monitoring in order to perform a task unrelated to the device operation, allocate a time period during which automated control is maintained and the user stops monitoring, the time period including a non-monitoring period having a duration based on a minimum amount of time for the task, and put the device into a temporary state at initiation of the allocated time period during which the user stops monitoring and automated control is maintained.

Abstract: A server includes an interface configured to communicate with a plurality of vehicles; and a processor, programmed to, send a query to the plurality of vehicles, the query identifying types of vehicle data and indicating an initial sampling rate, responsive to receiving the vehicle data sampled by the vehicles, process the vehicle data to obtain a feature result including an estimated value and a variance extending from the estimated value, and responsive to the variance being greater than a first threshold, send a first updated query indicating an increased sampling rate to the plurality of vehicles.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described whereby a server can forward a request from a device behind a NAT router to a system to determine if the request is suspicious. A server can receive a message via a network device, such as a NAT router, disposed at a location. The message can originate from one of a plurality of computing devices located downstream of the network device. The server can determine that the message originated from a compromised device and transmit a signal to facilitate execution of a first process on the computing devices located downstream from the compromised device, wherein, upon execution, the first process is configured to compare information located in a local storage of the computing device with a predetermined list of domains.

Abstract: Training and/or using a machine learning model for locomotion control of a robot, where the model is decoupled. In many implementations, the model is decoupled into an open loop component and a feedback component, where a user can provide a desired reference trajectory (e.g., a symmetric sine curve) as input for the open loop component. In additional and/or alternative implementations, the model is decoupled into a pattern generator component and a feedback component, where a user can provide controlled parameter(s) as input for the pattern generator component to generate pattern generator phase data (e.g., an asymmetric sine curve). The neural network model can be used to generate robot control parameters.

Abstract: A process for hydrotreating a renewable feedstock with improved carbon monoxide management is disclosed. A mixture of renewable feedstock and hydrocarbon feedstock is treated in a hydrotreating reactor to produce a hydrotreated effluent stream and contacting the hydrotreated effluent stream with a water gas shift catalyst bed to produce a shift reactor effluent stream. The shift reactor effluent stream is passed to a cold separator to recover a cold vapor stream and recycling the cold vapor stream having reduced concentration of carbon monoxide to the hydrotreating zone. The subject matter disclosed provides an improved process and apparatus to reduce the accumulation of CO by converting CO present in the hydrotreated effluent stream to CO2 using the water shift gas reaction.

Abstract: A flashing system for use with an electrical service panel is described. The flashing system includes a flashing assembly extending about a perimeter of the electrical services panel. The flashing assembly includes a support base including a planar outer surface and a flanged connection assembly extending obliquely from the planar outer surface of the support base and defining an opening configured to receive the electrical service panel therethrough. The flanged connection assembly includes an inner surface that is coupled to an outer surface of the electrical service panel for supporting the flashing assembly from the electrical service panel.

Abstract: Methods for Ultrasonic Flow Metering, Ultrasonic Flow Meter Calibration, and Ultrasonic Fluid Characterization. Focusing on the governing principles and equations of flow measurement for ultrasonic flow meters, using temperature referenced differential and absolute time of flight measurements to characterize fluid motion. As well as, experimental solutions to meter calibration constants, thermal expansion, concentration change in fluid validation/correction using a ratiometric approach comparing expected and measured zero flow measurements, change of fluid in process validation/correction using acoustic properties of a specific fluid, and zero flow correlations/validation based on time of flight and temperature, referenced to historically captured data and the acoustic properties of the fluid in the process.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling data access through the interaction of a short-range transceiver, such as a contactless card, with a client device are presented. An exemplary system and method may include establishing a database storing identifiers and keys for users and service providers, receiving from a client device of the service provider, via a network, a service provider token and a request for a data access key, the request generated in response to a tap action between a contactless card associated with a user and the client device, verifying the service provider is authorized to receive access to personal user data encrypted and stored on the contactless card, generating a data access key based on a user key, and transmitting to the service provider client device, via the network, the data access key, such that the client device may decrypt the personal user data obtained from the contactless card.

Abstract: A system and method are presented that scans a vector graphics file for image elements that appear over a background image. The image elements represent individual objects and movement or actions for those objects. The image elements, each possibly represented by multiple shapes, arrows, lines, or shading, are identified and parsed into a standard class definition. In one embodiment, the class definitions and the rule set applied to perform this parsing are pre-defined according to the content of the SVG file. The image elements are then redrawn over a new background image, which has multiple segments that correspond to the original background image but where each segment has a different segment transformation that defines translation and/or scaling required to move between the image segments. The image elements are then scaled and translated according to the multiple segment transformations, and then are presented over the new background image.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for image process biological samples to infer biomarker values. An image of a biological sample can be accessed. The image can be segmented into a set of patches. Edge detection performed on each patch can be used to identify one or more biological features represented by the patch. An indication of the one or more features of each patch may be used to generate one or more image level metrics. A value of a biomarker may be inferred using the one or more image level metrics. The value of the biomarker can then be output.

Abstract: Implementations of a visual cue system for conveying road state data to one or more vehicles traveling on a roadway can include a set of visual cue units that receive road state data and selectively issue a visual cue based on the road state data, at least one visual cue unit including a data processing unit configured to process the road state data and determine a light pattern based on a set of light pattern generation rules, and a light pattern display that selectively issues at least a portion of the light pattern to the one or more vehicles traveling on the roadway.

Abstract: There is provided servers and methods of generating a waveform based on a spectrogram and a noise input. The method includes acquiring a trained flow-based vocoder including invertible blocks, and an untrained feed-forward vocoder including non-invertible blocks, which form a student-teacher network. The method includes executing a training process in the student-teacher network during which the server generates (i) a teacher waveform by the trained flow-based vocoder using a first spectrogram and a first noise input, (ii) a student waveform by the untrained feed-forward vocoder using the first spectrogram and the first noise input, and (iii) a loss value for the given training iteration using the teacher waveform and the student waveform. The server then trains the untrained feed-forward vocoder to generate the waveform. The trained feed-forward vocoder in then used lieu of the trained flow-based vocoder for generating waveforms based on spectrograms and noise inputs.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes determining a gaze direction of a user wearing a head-mounted device, the head-mounted device having a display configured to output an image having multiple of pixels. The method may further include determining, for each of the multiple pixels, a set of sampling locations based on the gaze direction of the user, the sets of sampling locations of the multiple pixels being a portion of a sampling pattern defined based on the gaze direction of the user. In one embodiment, the method may also include computing, for each of the multiple pixels, a color value for the pixel by sampling a scene according to the set of sampling locations associated with the pixel, generating the image using the color values of the multiple pixels, and outputting the image using the display of the head-mounted device.
