Abstract: Robust electro-static (ES) device embodiments, with application to energy storage flywheels as an example, are described that provide reliable, high-efficiency operation in the presence of thermal and mechanical perturbations, as well as seismic events. Electro-static generators and motors, when augmented with magnetic bearings, passive three-dimensional stabilization techniques and dynamic touch-down bearings, enable robust performance in the face of these environmental concerns, as well as efficient operation during typical operational sequences, including spin-up and steady-state modalities.

Abstract: An omni, bollard speaker has circular, cylindrical lower and upper housings. A domed driver is mounted within the top wall of the lower housing and a speaker is rotatably mounted in the internal space in the upper housing, between the top wall of the lower housing and the speaker cover of the upper housing. The speaker is rotatable from a first horizontal position directly over the domed driver to reflect wide dispersion acoustical output directly over the driver to disburse sound evenly within the listening area. The speaker can be quickly rotated downward and converted from this down-firing omni reflecting position to a side firing position or an up-and-out, direct radiating position. Thus, the same speaker serves many different sound coverage applications and can be customized on site for best use.

Abstract: A digital system for managing and tracking knockout poker or progressive knock poker tournament in a live gaming setting. Each tournament entrant has a player device at the table seat. The dealer manages table activity, including bounty and bank roll activity, through a dealer device. A tournament director uses a director device to manage the dealer devices and the player devices. The director devices and dealer devices have higher levels of administrative access as compared to the player devices. The player devices are designed to be visible by all players seated at the gaming table so that each player can be appraised of every other player's current bounty and bank roll status. The dealer can use the dealer device to manage and track the knockout and other aspects of the game by inputting and modifying bounty, bankroll, and other information in response to events occurring the real-time poker game.

Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatuses, and computer program products are provided for connecting sensor devices to cloud servers by a gateway device. The gateway device includes a plurality of sensor adaptors, a sensor data processor, and a network communication interface. The sensor adaptors are configured to receive sensor data in communication signals from sensor devices. Each sensor adaptor is configured to extract sensor data encapsulated according to a respective sensor communication protocol. The sensor data processor is configured to process the extracted sensor data for transmission to a cloud service, such as by extracting unneeded messages data, or inserting additional data such as a time stamp. The network communication interface is configured to transmit the processed sensor data to the cloud service over a network according to a network communication protocol. Sensor data of different types may be transmitted according to corresponding types of network communication protocols.

Abstract: A sealable container for preservation of a biological sample is provided. The container includes a cap comprising a proximal open and a lumen and an elongate body that extends from a handle portion to a specimen portion. A closure portion is disposed between the handle portion and the specimen portion, wherein the closure portion is configured to make surface to surface contact with the cap when the specimen portion is fully inserted within the lumen. The closure portion comprises an outer diameter that gradually decreases in a direction from the handle portion to the specimen portion. The specimen portion comprises a scooped portion where a distance between the upper surface and the lower surface is less than distances between the upper surface and the lower surface along remaining portions of the specimen portion, wherein the scooped portion is spaced proximally from a distal tip of the specimen portion.

Abstract: The present disclosure is related to crystalline forms of ozanimod hydrochloride, as well as preparation method thereof. The crystalline form of ozanimod hydrochloride provided by the present disclosure can be used for treating autoimmune diseases, particularly multiple sclerosis and ulcerative colitis. The crystalline form of the present disclosure has advantages in at least one aspect of solubility, melting point, stability, dissolution, bioavailability and processability and provides a new and better choice for the preparation of drug product containing ozanimod, and has significant value for drug development.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for extending a duration of engine idle-stop while reducing a frequency of engine restart from idle-stop. In one example, in response to engine restart conditions where combustion torque is not necessary, an engine can be rotated electrically, without fuel delivery, via an electric motor. The unfueled engine spinning via the motor drives an FEAD which in turns drives an actuator coupled to the FEAD, such as an AC compressor or an automatic transmission oil pump.

Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for deactivating problematic secondary content are provided. This approach involves a deactivator component receiving data associated with an indication of a change to one or more secondary contents, a secondary content playback report, and/or a secondary content quality of experience (QoE) via data sources. After identifying the problematic secondary content, the deactivator component may request a secondary content provider to deactivate the problematic secondary content by deactivating a target resource associated with the secondary content instance, the secondary content, the secondary content unit, or the placement. In particular, the deactivator component may also provide feedback or reason for deactivating the secondary content.

Abstract: A cannabis oil extraction apparatus may include an extraction unit, condenser, winterization unit, micron filter, preheater, short-path distillation unit, and condenser. The extraction unit may utilize cellular disruption in a food grade solvent to extract cannabis oil from plant material. The short-path distillation unit may utilize molecular distillation. The short-path distillation unit may include a recirculation loop for multiple passes through the short-path distillation unit to separate extract components by weight. In one example, multiple short-path distillation units may be aligned is series to incrementally separate extract components by weight.

The computer system determines whether the employee is a manager or a non-manager based on the employee data for the employee. The computer system applies a manager employee level model to determine a manager job level of the employee in response to determining that the employee is a manager. The computer system applies a non-manager employee level model to determine a non-manager job level of the employee in response to determining that the employee is a non-manager.

Abstract: A disclosed apparatus may include a line source configured to produce a line of light and a scanning device configured to scan the line of light across a scanning field in a scanning direction. The scanning field may include a receiving portion configured to receive an eye. The apparatus may also include a reflector positioned within the scanning field. During a primary period of a scan, the line of light may scan the receiving portion in a primary direction. During a secondary period of the scan, the reflector may reflect the line of light such that a reflection of the line of light scans the receiving portion in a secondary direction. The apparatus may also include a photodetector positioned to receive (1) an initial reflection during the primary period, and (2) a subsequent reflection during the secondary period. Various other methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Abstract: A network-based system and method for providing desired moisture set point values for individual papers lines based on the physical properties of each liner and the atmospheric conditions associated with a corrugator is disclosed. The desired moisture set point values are based on the hygroexpansivity of each individual paper liner. Once the moisture set point value has been determined, a conditioning apparatus adjusts a moisture value for each liner in order to tune the post-warp characteristics of the final corrugated product.

Abstract: A method and system for executing a query in parallel is disclosed. A master node may receive a query from a client and develop query plans from that query. The query plans may be forwarded to worker nodes for execution, and each query plan may be accompanied by query metadata. The metadata may be stored in a catalog on the master node.

Abstract: Controlling a vehicle according to a trained neural network model capable of being used to generate an output from which one or more vehicle operating variables can be estimated. The neural network model can be used to process, as input, aggregated data corresponding to operational and/or environmental characteristics experienced by the vehicle during at least a portion of a voyage. The aggregated data can include a range of values collected over a period of time when the vehicle is traversing the portion of the voyage. The output generated by the neural network model, based on processing the input, can be further processed in order to determine, for example, an estimated state of charge and/or an estimated remaining flight time for the vehicle. Such estimated values can thereafter be used by a controller of the vehicle to maintain course or maneuver to a charging station.

Abstract: In general, this disclosure describes a suspend mode feature for artificial reality systems and, more specifically, system configurations and techniques for generating a suspend mode environment during execution of an artificial reality application, and presenting and controlling user interface (UI) elements within the suspend mode environment. The suspend mode feature enables a user interacting with one or more other users (or one or more avatars corresponding to the one or more other users) within an artificial reality (AR) environment to suspend the AR environment from the user's perspective. While in the suspend mode environment, the user is able to view and select the other users from the AR environment. For example, the user may select another user to friend, message, mute, block, or report that user from the suspend mode environment.

Abstract: Embodiments are described for a system and method for providing a list of current offers from retailers to a user operating a mobile client device. Aspects of the method comprise analyzing a transaction history of the user to identify a vendor who has transacted with the user; determining a present geographic location of the user based on a location of the mobile client device; determining a location of the vendor proximate the user based on the transaction history and the present geographic location of the user; searching for a current promotion offered by the vendor; and facilitating the serving of the current promotion to the user through the mobile client device.

The composite article includes a structural film formed from a composition and disposed on the substrate in a pattern that is arranged to dampen a sound wave having a first frequency and a first amplitude and propagatable in a first direction to a second frequency that is less than the first frequency and a second amplitude that is less than the first amplitude. The composite article includes a coating layer disposed on the pattern and configured to dampen the sound wave in the first direction and in a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction. The composite article has a second stiffness that is greater than the first stiffness. A method of forming the composite article is also described.
