  • Patent number: 12175255
Abstract: An electronic device (such as an access point) that selectively changes to an alternative or different partition is described. During operation, when the electronic device is in a first power state (such as a lower power state), an integrated circuit in the electronic device may detect or receive an error state or a change instruction. In response, the integrated circuit may change an active partition in the electronic device from a first partition to a second partition. Next, the integrated circuit may transition the electronic device to a second power state (such as a higher power state). Furthermore, a processor in the electronic device (which may be the same as or different from the integrated circuit) may install and execute an operating system of the electronic device in the second partition.

  • Patent number: 12173871
Abstract: An lighting system includes a mounting assembly configured for mounting on a host structure above a ceiling, and a lighting module for attachment to the mounting assembly, including a lighting unit having a mounting side configured for attachment to the mounting assembly approximately flush with the ceiling. An electronics module supported by the mounting assembly includes an onboard battery and circuitry that powers the lighting module by use of the battery upon detecting a power failure. The lighting unit has a predefined depth extending from the ceiling, defining a low profile system. The mounting assembly is generally occluded above a ceiling. A ring bezel circumferentially surrounds the lighting unit and opens at least in the direction of the an illuminating side thereof. The bezel has a downward facing annular ring by which the illuminating side is offset to protect same from incidental contact in handling, packaging, installation, and use.

  • Patent number: 12174655
Abstract: An optical numerical computation method obtains operands that have respective values and modulates light sources to output light at amplitudes proportional to the operands. The light output for a given operand depends on whether the operand is positive or negative. The positive operands are output at wavelengths different from the negative operands. For operands that have multiple digits, the digits are separately treated so that the least significant digits are modulated with light sources at one frequency, and the most significant digits in two-digit numbers are modulated at another frequency, with positive and negative operands modulated at different frequencies. The light from the light sources enters a light collection cavity where it is sensed with sensors that generate resultant outputs at values indicative of the sensed light value.

  • Patent number: 12175347
Abstract: A predictor has a memory which stores at least one example for which an associated outcome is not known. The memory stores at least one decision tree comprising a plurality of nodes connected by edges, the nodes comprising a root node, internal nodes and leaf nodes. Individual ones of the nodes and individual ones of the edges each have an assigned module, comprising parameterized, differentiable operations, such that for each of the internal nodes the module computes a binary outcome for selecting a child node of the internal node. The predictor has a processor configured to compute the prediction by processing the example using a plurality of the differentiable operations selected according to a path through the tree from the root node to a leaf node.

  • Patent number: 12175165
Abstract: Systems and methods of the present disclosure enable automated roof planning using a processor. The processor receives a digital image of a roof of a structure and models each roof plane of the roof to generate a roof model. The processor determines dimensions of each roof plane based on the roof model. The processor retrieves roofing accessory data from a database, the roofing accessory data solar roofing accessory part identifiers and solar roofing accessory part performance characteristics for solar roofing accessories. The processor simulates multiple candidate roof layouts based on the dimensions of each roof plan and the solar roofing accessory parts and determines a utilization prediction for each candidate layout. Based on each utilization prediction, the processor determines a particular roof layout having selected solar roofing accessory parts, and generates a solar roof design, including a list of materials, for the particular roof layout.

  • Patent number: 12175267
Abstract: Hot restart of a hypervisor by replacing a running first hypervisor by a second hypervisor with minimally perceptible downtime to guest partitions. A first hypervisor is executed on a computing system. The first hypervisor is configured to create one or more guest partitions. During the hot restart, a service partition is generated and initialized with a second hypervisor. At least a portion of runtime state of the first hypervisor is migrated and synchronized to the second hypervisor using inverse hypercalls. After the synchronization, the second hypervisor is devirtualized from the service partition to replace the first hypervisor. Devirtualizing includes transferring control of hardware resources from the first hypervisor to the second hypervisor, using the previously migrated and synchronized runtime state.

  • Patent number: 12175629
Abstract: Presented herein are embodiments of systems and methods for training a system and for using a trained system to generate super-resolution imagery from low-resolution imagery. Embodiments for generating super-resolution imagery from low-resolution imagery include obtaining an input trade-off parameter that indicates a preference regarding low distortion or high perceptual quality for a generated SR image and obtaining a latent variable from a distribution defined, at least in part, by a trade-off parameter. Embodiments include inputting an LR image and the latent variable into an embodiment of an invertible rescaling network (IRNN) in an inverse upscaling direction of the IRNN to generate an output SR image that comprises accuracy and perception qualities conditioned by the input trade-off parameter. In one or more embodiments, a trained IRNN uses a trade-off parameter that indicates a desired trade-off between whether the trained IRNN generates an SR image having lower distortion or higher perceptual quality.

  • Patent number: 12175780
Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for verifying a document. An embodiment operates by receiving an initial image of a document and identifying a first imperfection on a feature of the document. Thereafter, the feature of the initial image is segmented into a first and second partially overlapping segment corresponding to a first and second portion of the feature, respectively. Subsequently, the feature's first portion is determined to be free from the first imperfection, and the first imperfection is identified in the feature's second segment. After receiving a second image of the document including the feature's second portion, the feature's second portion in the second image is determined to be free from a second imperfection. As a result, an image of the feature is created based on the first and second portions of the feature derived from the initial and second images, respectively.

  • Patent number: 12177437
Abstract: Innovations in control and use of chroma quantization parameter (“QP”) values that depend on luma QP values. More generally, the innovations relate to control and use of QP values for a secondary color component that depend on QP values for a primary color component. For example, during encoding, an encoder determines a QP index from a primary component QP and secondary component QP offset. The encoder maps the QP index to a secondary component QP, which has an extended range. The encoder outputs at least part of a bitstream including the encoded content. A corresponding decoder receives at least part of a bitstream including encoded content. During decoding, the decoder determines a QP index from a primary component QP and secondary component QP offset, then maps the QP index to a secondary component QP, which has an extended range.

  • Patent number: 12174631
Abstract: A method of operating an apparatus using a control system that includes at least one neural network. The method includes receiving an input value captured by the apparatus, processing the input value using the at least one neural network of the control system implemented on first one or more solid-state chips, and obtaining an output from the at least one neural network resulting from processing the input value. The method may also include processing the output with another neural network implemented on solid-state chips to determine whether the output breaches a predetermined condition that is unchangeable after an initial installation onto the control system. The aforementioned another neural network is prevented from being retrained. The method may also include the step of using the output from the at least one neural network to control the apparatus unless the output breaches the predetermined condition. Similar corresponding apparatuses are described.

  • Patent number: 12175890
Abstract: An asynchronous content delivery system is provided that pushes messages or notifications of content designed for spaced repetition. Machine learning may be used to create, select and prioritize the messages/notifications. The asynchronous content delivery system may support asynchronous promotion of the content to the user. The asynchronously delivered content may be at least partially derived from a conversation agent operating on a user device. In another example, the content may be created or selected independently by a plurality of content providers and artificial intelligence algorithms. The content may be classified in sets according to a set of rules of combination. The content may be asynchronously delivered to end user devices according to a set of rules of delivery. The rules of delivery may influence a manner in which the content, or a representation thereof, is manifest on the end user devices.
