Abstract: A method for controlling an actuatable restraining device includes sensing a plurality of crash event indications in response to a crash event. The method also includes classifying the crash event in response to comparing the sensed crash event indications against one another to identify an oblique moving deformable barrier crash event. The method further includes controlling deployment timing of the actuatable restraining device in response to the classification of the crash event.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention adapt interconnect systems to apply automated rules and analytics to the Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (“AAA”) messages between providers that are handled by the interconnect system. The automated rules and analytics interpret or convert the administrative messages into a measure of technical performance of the visited network in relation to a corresponding home network provider. As part of this process, the system establishes a procedure that matches messages involving a device to be related and produces a data structure and corresponding data that is stored and reflects the performance or other salient data points. The structure of the data is set of extracted and calculated data that is derived from the messages and is assembled to reflect operation at the level of each administrative messaging session, involving a request to the home network provider to join a visited network.

Abstract: The method and apparatus for protecting the printhead heating elements in a thermal printer includes preparing the printer for label dispensing and then covering the printhead heating elements such that the label run or thermal material passing over the same does not contact the printhead heating elements. The cover for the printhead heating elements can take various forms. In one implementation, the cover is a sleeve configured to fit over the entire printhead assembly of the thermal printer. In another implementation, the cover is a shim placed between the printhead and a label run path. The printhead cover has a low coefficient of friction.

Abstract: A suppressed pistol has a breech block and a slide mounted on a frame. The breech block and slide are separate pieces, movable relatively to one another and the frame. A link extends between the breech block and the frame. The link carries a cam and a cam follower. The cam follower on the link engages a cam on the frame, the cam on the link engages a cam follower on the slide. Action between the cams, cam followers and the link causes separation between the breech block and the slide during operation of the pistol. The suppressor includes a container having baffle plates with truncated cones defining openings offset from the geometric centers of the baffle plates.

Abstract: A holster for a handgun having a trigger guard includes a holster body defining a chamber for receiving a portion of the handgun. The holster body has an entranceway enabling insertion of the gun into the holster and removal of the handgun from the holster chamber. The holster includes a blocking device separate from the holster body that helps to block movement of the handgun trigger guard relative to the holster body when the handgun is in the chamber. The blocking device is supported on the holster body for movement relative to the holster body between an open position and a blocking position. The blocking device has a tail portion that projects from the bottom wall in a direction away from the top wall when the blocking member is in the open position. The blocking device moves from the open position to the blocking position in response to insertion of a handgun through the entranceway into the chamber.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide for identifying problematic areas within a service area for an autonomous vehicle transportation service. For instance, a starting location within the service area corresponding to a potential pickup location for passengers or cargo for the service may be identified. A destination within the service area may be identified. A simulation may be run in order to determine a route for a simulated vehicle to travel between the starting location and the destination. That the route includes a particular type of maneuver may be determined. A new simulation without allowing the simulated vehicle to complete the particular type of maneuver may be run. Whether the simulated vehicle reaches the destination in the new simulation may be determined. Based on the determination of whether the simulated vehicle reaches the destination in the new simulation, the starting location and destination location may be flagged as potentially problematic areas.

Abstract: Exemplary light control devices and methods provide a regional variation of visual information and sampling (“V-VIS”) of an ocular field of view that improves or stabilizes vision, ameliorates a visual symptom, reduces the rate of vision loss, or reduces the progression of an ophthalmic or neurologic condition, disease, injury or disorder. The V-VIS devices and methods generate a moving aperture effect anterior to a retina that samples and delivers to the retina environmental light from an ocular field of view at a sampling rate between 50 hertz and 50 kilohertz. Certain of these V-VIS devices and methods may be combined with augmented or virtual reality, vision measurement, vision monitoring, or other therapies including, but not limited to, pharmacological, gene, retinal replacement and stem cell therapies.

Abstract: Reconfigurable touch screen computing devices with folding configurations that include flexible and rigid displays which are made up of segments that can be reconfigured from a compact state to an expanded state. The form factor of the compact state is roughly the size of a typical handheld phone, with an integrated speaker and microphone. The form factor of the expanded state is roughly the size of a tablet computer which may also include the mechanical functionality of a laptop. Both states may provide a configuration which includes a touch screen display on a front side and a protective housing on a back side. The computing devices may further include sensors to indicate the state of configuration and mechanisms for alignment, locking, and structural support. In one embodiment, a module attached to, situated within, or otherwise associated with at least one segment may contain all or substantially all processing and memory, along with a communications system, all of which may be used in either state.

Abstract: Embodiments of an enclosure assembly to enhance cooling of a hydraulic fracturing direct drive unit (DDU) during operation are included. The enclosure assembly may include an enclosure body extending at least partially around an enclosure space to house the DDU for driving a fluid pump. The enclosure assembly may include one or more heat exchanger assemblies connected to the enclosure body for cooling a process fluid associated with one or more of the DDU and the fluid pump, and which may be configured to draw air into the enclosure space from and external environment, toward one or more radiator assemblies to cool the process fluid, and along an airflow path through the enclosure space. One or more outlet fan assemblies may be operative to discharge air from the enclosure space to the external environment to maintain a desired temperature of the enclosure space.

Abstract: In a method for handling a plurality of heuristics for task selection in a genetic algorithm, a task scheduling engine generates a population of tasks associated with an overall objective, identifies multiple jobs associated with an overall objective, compiles the multiple jobs into a genome, and assigns one or more tasks to each job of the multiple jobs. The task scheduling engine also assigns a task heuristic byte defining multiple task heuristics that can be applied to the each job of the genome, randomly assigns a task heuristic from the multiple task heuristics to the each job, and determines a value score for the genome.

Abstract: A catalyst suitable for the conversion of aromatic hydrocarbons is described. The catalyst comprises UZM-54 zeolite; a mordenite zeolite; a binder comprising alumina, silica, or combinations, thereof; and a metal selected from one or more of: Groups VIB(6) VIIB(7), VIII(8-10) and IVA(14) of the Periodic Table. A process for transalkylation using the catalyst is also described.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for preparing an energy receiving apparatus of a vehicle for receiving an increase in a level of energy storage prior to a vehicle reaching an energy replenishment station for receiving the increase. In one example, a method comprises via a controller, requesting a confirmation as to whether a vehicle operator intends to stop at a particular energy replenishment station, and when confirmation is received, commanding one or more actions to prepare the energy receiving apparatus for accepting the energy level increase. Abstract: Methods and systems for a low-voltage integrated silicon high-speed modulator may include an optical modulator comprising first and second optical waveguides and two optical phase shifters, where each of the two optical phase shifters may comprise a p-n junction with a horizontal section and a vertical section and an optical signal is communicated to the first optical waveguide. A portion of the optical signal may then be coupled to the second optical waveguide. A phase of at least one optical signal in the waveguides may be modulated utilizing the optical phase shifters. A portion of the phase modulated optical signals may be coupled between the two waveguides, thereby generating two output signals from the modulator. A modulating signal may be applied to the phase shifters which may include a reverse bias.

Abstract: A compact ADC circuit can include one or more comparators, and a serial DAC (Digital-to-Analog) circuit that provides a signal to the comparator (or comparators). In addition, the ADC circuit can include a serial DAC redistribution sequencer that can provide a plurality of signals as input to the serial DAC circuit and is subject to a redistribution cycle and which receives as input a signal from a data multiplexer whose input connects electronically to an output of the comparator. The circuit can further include an ADC code register that provides an ADC output that connects electronically to the output of the comparator and the input to the data multiplexer. Shared logic circuitry for sharing common logic between pixels can be included, wherein the shared logic circuitry connects electronically to the data multiplexer and the ADC code register, wherein the shared logic circuitry promotes area and power savings for the pixel detector circuit.
