Abstract: An elevator cable management system is described to provide constraints on cable movements at a point between the top and bottom of an elevator track. The system may include a moving retainer bar with a cradle on top of an elevator car, and a fixed retainer bar that retains cables when the elevator car is above the fixed retainer bar.

In one aspect, a method includes obtaining sensor data captured by one or more sensors of a vehicle. The sensor data is processed by a convolutional neural network to generate a sensor feature representation of the sensor data. Data is obtained which defines a particular spatial region in the sensor data that has been classified as including sensor data that characterizes the particular object. An object feature representation of the particular object is generated from a portion of the sensor feature representation corresponding to the particular spatial region. The object feature representation of the particular object is processed using a localization neural network to generate the location of the particular object relative to the vehicle.
Abstract: A DNA storage system for binary digital data. The digital data is deduplicated is encoded into a format for representation in DNA, and DNA representing the data is synthesized and stored in pools in a primary library, a hash library and a data library. The primary library stores DNA for accessing a hash object in the hash library corresponding to a hash of the data, and the hash library stores DNA for accessing a data object in the data library that contains the data. The information in the libraries includes information identifying objects, including keys, unique identifiers (UIDs), pool identifiers, and primers.

Abstract: A truck is provided that includes a bed section located rear of a cab section. The bed section is bounded on each side by opposing first and second upward-extending sidewalls, respectively. The truck also includes a truck bed cover that sits over the bed section on at least the first and second upward-extending sidewalls, and includes a door portion to create selective accessibility to the bed section of the pickup truck. The door portion is movable with respect to the first and second upward-extending sidewalls between open and closed positions via an automatic bed cover drive assembly that moves the door portion between open and closed positions according to a plurality of velocities within a predetermined variance.
Abstract: A drilling system includes a rotatable string for connecting with a bit for drilling a borehole, and an active stabilizer which includes a body having an outer surface for contacting a wall of the borehole, and a plurality of actuators connecting the body and the string and capable of driving the string to deviate away from a center of the borehole with a displacement to change a drilling direction. The drilling system further includes a module for measuring direction parameters including at least one of a declination angle and an azimuth angle of the borehole, a module for measuring imbalance parameters including at least one of a lateral force, a bending moment and a torque near the drill bit, and a controller including a calculator for calculating an adjustment needed for the displacement, based on the measured parameters and expected values of these parameters.

Abstract: An electric candle device that resembles a real was candle includes an outer shell with an uneven edge around the top of the outer shell. The device includes one or more light emitting elements positioned within a cavity inside the outer shell and that emit beams at a non-zero angle with respect to a longitudinal axis of the electric lighting device to provide illumination from within the cavity in an upward direction and reaching above the top surface after passing through the opening. An optical element is positioned to receive light from the one or more light emitting elements and to direct the received light toward the top surface. The optical element has a focal point to change one or both of a size and direction of the light received prior to projecting the light in the direction of the top surface.

Abstract: A system on a chip may include a plurality of data plane processor cores sharing a common instruction set architecture. At least one of the data plane processor cores is specialized to perform a particular function via extensions to the otherwise common instruction set architecture. Such systems on a chip may have reduced physical complexity, cost, and time-to-market, and may provide improvements in core utilization and reductions in system power consumption.

After each transmission of a preamble in the preambles and at least until a transmission of a last preamble in the preambles monitoring, a control channel is monitored for random access responses (RARs) identified by random access radio network temporary identifiers (RA-RNTIs) that each correspond to one of the transmitted preambles. A packet is transmitted based on receiving a first RAR of the RARs.
Abstract: A kyphoplasty system disclosed herein includes various instruments which can be selectively used to perform a kyphoplasty operation on a patient. For example, in some embodiments the kyphoplasty system includes an inflation plunger that is used to deliver a balloon inflation medium to enlarge an implantable balloon device. Further, some embodiments described herein include a connection system between the implantable balloon device and its delivery shaft that is simple to construct and easy to use. For example, in some embodiments one or more sutures are used to releasably connect the implantable balloon device to its delivery shaft.
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining retention periods or policies for backups are disclosed. A rule book stores relationships between rules and recommended retention periods. Data related to a backup is collected and organized. A query is generated from the organized data and used to identify a rule from the rule book. The retention period corresponding to the identified rule in the rule book is then applied to the corresponding backup.

Abstract: A multi-phase switch-mode power supply to control an output in two possible modes is disclosed. A first mode can be applied for normal load conditions. In the first mode, control is achieved using an error signal based on a difference between an output voltage and a set voltage level. In heavy load conditions a load attempts to draw too more power than the switch-mode power supply can provide. As a result, control of the output voltage is lost and the current of each phase becomes saturated at a limit. When this condition is detected, a second mode can be applied. In the second mode, control is achieved using an error signal based on a difference between an output current and a set current level. The set current level is chosen so that the current of each phase is no longer saturated and control of the output current is maintained.
