Abstract: Provided are various embodiments relating to compositions and methods for treating vascular disease, including core NOX1 promoters and variants thereof for regulating expression of transgenes in response to vascular pathology and allowing for increased transgene loading capacity. Also provided are variant FOXP polypeptides having a zinc finger and leucine zipper region of a different FOXP polypeptide. Further provided are vectors comprising the core NOX1 promoters and/or a coding sequence for variant FOXP polypeptides described herein and optionally coding sequence(s) for one or more additional therapeutic polypeptide(s), such as IL10, for treating inflammation-associated diseases, such as vascular disease. Also provided is a screening model for testing therapeutic agents capable of treating established and ongoing atherosclerotic pathology.
Abstract: A propulsion system having an electric motor and corresponding method. A controller is configured to receive a torque request and selectively command the electric motor. The controller has a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which instructions are recorded for a method of generating an auxiliary power. The controller is configured to obtain a desired auxiliary power and a delta factor (?). The delta factor is set as a speed modifier (??=?) when the cosine of an angle (?), between a constant torque unit vector and a decreasing voltage ellipse unit vector, is less than a predefined threshold. A modified rotor speed is obtained as a sum of an original rotor speed and a speed modifier (??). The controller is configured to obtain modified stator current commands based on the modified rotor speed and torque request. The auxiliary power is generated by commanding the modified stator current commands.
Abstract: A hydroprocessing catalyst has been developed. The catalyst is a crystalline transition metal tungstate material or metal sulfides derived therefrom, or both. The hydroprocessing using the crystalline transition metal tungstate material may include hydrodenitrification, hydrodesulfurization, hydrodemetallation, hydrodesilication, hydrodearomatization, hydroisomerization, hydrotreating, hydrofining, and hydrocracking. A data system comprising at least one processor; at least one memory storing computer-executable instructions; and at least one receiver configured to receive data of a conversion process comprising at least one reaction catalyzed by the catalyst or a metal sulfide decomposition product of the catalyst has been developed.
Abstract: Systems and methods include a mechanical isolation device that comprises a sleeve, which includes a port for fluid flow between an internal bore of the sleeve and an inside of a tubular. A receiver positioned in the internal bore includes a first orifice at a first axial location on the receiver, and a second orifice at a second axial location on the receiver. The second orifice is either aligned or un-aligned with the port of the sleeve. The receiver is slidable within the sleeve to: (i) move the first orifice into alignment with the port and either move the second orifice out of alignment with the port or keep the second orifice out of alignment with the port; and (ii) move the first orifice out of alignment with the port so that a portion of the receiver covers the port to block fluid flow between the internal bore of the sleeve and the port.
Abstract: Optical filter devices for providing a reflective event in an optical network are disclosed. In one embodiment, the optical filter device comprises an optical filter assembly for reflecting one or more preselected wavelengths and a housing. In one embodiment, the housing comprises a plug end and a receptacle end for optical connection into a link or connection node of an optical network. The housing comprises a passageway between the plug end and the receptacle end, and the plug end comprises a shroud with a single fiber connector footprint. At least a portion of the optical filter assembly is disposed within the passageway of the housing. The optical filter devices disclosed allow the network operator the flexibility to choose where to position a reflective location in the optical network along with the ability to move, add or change the reflective location as desired.

Abstract: A method of sample analysis is provided. In certain embodiments, the method involves: a) amplifying a product from a sample that comprises both wild type copies of a genomic locus and mutant copies of the genomic locus that have a point mutation relative to said wild type copies of the genomic locus, to produce an amplified sample, where: i. the amplifying is done using a first primer and a second primer; and ii. the first primer comprises a 3? terminal nucleotide that base pairs with the point mutation and also comprises a nucleotide sequence that is fully complementary to a sequence in the locus with the exception of a single base mismatch within 6 bases of the 3? terminal nucleotide; and b) detecting the presence of said product in said amplified sample using a flap assay that employs an invasive oligonucleotide. A kit for performing the method is also provided.

Abstract: Disclosed in some examples are display systems, methods, devices, and machine-readable mediums which provide for a gesture-based method for specifying a region of a display in which to show shared content. Also disclosed are pairing methods for associating the region of the display with a content source device, methods for sharing content within the region, and methods for providing input from the region back to the content source device.
Abstract: Methods and systems are described wherein an initiating device sends a communication requesting a voice call session with a recipient device. In response, the initiating device receives a communication indicating that the initiating device can provide a text message instead of establishing the voice call session. In some cases, the communication may refuse the request voice call session, while in other cases the communication may simply indicate that the recipient device supports text messaging as an alternative to voice mail. As a result of the received communication, the initiating device outputs a text input prompt. After receiving text input in response to the prompt, the initiating device sends a text message containing the received text input.
Abstract: A system and method for controlling an exercise device are provided herein. The system includes a memory having computer-executable instructions and at least one processor to execute the computer-executable instructions to wirelessly connect the exercise device, receive a training mode, receive at least one variable for determining a power set point, determine the power set point responsive to the training mode and the at least one variable and control a magnetic brake assembly in the exercise device responsive to the power set point.

Abstract: A webcam account security system that allows a user to require activation of a webcam when accessing an account. The system may prompt a user attempting to access the account to activate the webcam and may deny access to the account or require additional security procedures when access to the webcam is not granted. Additionally, the system may store any images or footage captured by the webcam for analysis in the case a fraud notification is received. The system may further deny access to the account when the webcam is unable to detect the face or an identifying characteristic of the person attempting to access the account.
