Abstract: In one aspect, an exemplary method for sharing traffic data among a plurality of vehicles includes: a first vehicle receiving current traffic data from at least a second vehicle over a first network protocol; the first vehicle transmitting current traffic data from the first vehicle and the current traffic data received from at least the second vehicle to a roadside unit over a second network protocol; the first vehicle receiving processed traffic data from the roadside unit over the second network protocol, the processed traffic data being based on the current traffic data received from the first vehicle and from at least the second vehicle; and the first vehicle transmitting the processed traffic data received from the roadside unit to at least the second vehicle over the first network protocol.

Abstract: A system and method for determining a pH level of blood in a vessel of a patient including a flexible elongated device configured and dimensioned for insertion in the vessel of the patient. The elongated device has a tubular portion, a marker band positioned distally of the tubular portion and a pH sensor positioned within the marker band to measure the pH level of blood downstream of the blood clot and an indicator to indicate the measured pH.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for enabling private communication between head-mounted displays. A first user dons a first head-mounted display. The first head-mounted display authenticates that the first user is authorized to view information displayed by the first head-mounted display. In response to positive authentication, the first head-mounted display displays the information to the first user. The first user inputs a selection command via an input interface, such as, for example, gazing at particular information, to select some of the displayed information. The first head-mounted display generates a message based on the user selection, which may be encrypted by the first head-mounted display prior to transmission. The first head-mounted display transmits the message to a second head-mounted display, such that the second head-mounted display displays the message to an eye of a second user wearing the second head-mounted display.

Abstract: Nanowires useful as heterogeneous catalysts are provided. The nanowire catalysts are useful in a variety of catalytic reactions, for example, the oxidative coupling of methane to C2 hydrocarbons. Related methods for use and manufacture of the same are also disclosed.

Abstract: When a new communication is received at a server, the system can generate machine readable data pertaining to the communication, e.g., a transcript for the communication. Using the transcript, the system can utilize natural language processing techniques to find at least one request in the communication. The system can search summaries of prior communications, and if there is a communication including a similar request, the system can display a record of the prior communication.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for reducing the impact of temporary unavailability of storages in a backup storage system. The system may store different types of backups depending on the availability storages. The first type of backup, which may rely on a previous backup stored in a first storage that is available for restoration purposes, may be stored on the first storage. When the first storage becomes temporarily unavailable, a second type of backup may be stored in a second storage that is available that requires a previous backup stored in the temporarily unavailable first storage for restoration purposes. The second type of backup may be chained to the previous backup stored in the temporarily unavailable storage. The second type of backup may be converted to the first type of backup when the first storage becomes available again in a computationally efficient manner.

The device can also identify an environment around the device as a thermally enhanced environment or a thermally non-enhanced environment in response to the initialization of operation of the device. Additionally, the device can select a thermal control loop algorithm of the removable storage device based on the identified environment. The device can also adjust a thermal control loop algorithm of the device based on the identified environment. Moreover, the device can control processing operations of a processor in response to the adjusted thermal control loop algorithm.

Abstract: A touch sensor device (TSD) includes TSD electrodes associated with a surface of the TSD. Also, an overlay that includes marker electrode(s) is also associated with a region of the surface of the TSD. The TSD also includes drive-sense circuits (DSCs) operably coupled to the plurality of TSD electrodes. A DSC is configured to provide a TSD electrode signal to a TSD electrode and simultaneously to sense a change of the TSD electrode signal based on a change of impedance of the TSD electrode caused by capacitive coupling between the TSD electrode and the marker electrode(s) of the overlay. Processing module(s) is configured to process a digital signal generated by the DSC and other digital signals generated by other DSCs determine the region of the surface of the TSD that is associated with the overlay and to adapt sensitivity of the TSD within that region.

Abstract: A method of broadcasting firmware updating messages in a communication system includes the steps of receiving a broadcast remote firmware update (BRFU) setup message from an upstream source, the BRFU setup message specifying a number of transmissions of a broadcast of a firmware file; broadcasting setup information from the BRFU setup message on a first channel to downstream devices, the setup information specifying at least one other channel to which each downstream device should listen to receive a copy of the firmware file; and repeatedly broadcasting the firmware file to the downstream devices in accordance with the BRFU setup message.

The sleeve has a braided, tubular wall extending lengthwise along a central longitudinal axis between open opposite ends. The wall includes a plurality of filament bundles, with each filament bundle including a plurality of filaments twisted with one another to form a plurality of loops, wherein a plurality of the loops of each filament bundle are interlinked with a plurality of the loops of an adjacent filament bundle. At least some of the filament bundles include a conductive wire filament to provide the sleeve with an EMI protective shielding capacity.

Abstract: Extracting a core sample from within a wellbore is optimized based on information extracted from acoustic signals that are generated downhole. The acoustic signals provide an indication of the formation being cored, which is used to obtain or adjust designated coring operating parameters for accomplishing an efficient and effective coring procedure. Coring operating parameters that are adjusted include weight on bit and bit rotational speed. Optimizing coring operating parameters reduces wear on the bit and produces samples with less fractures. Generating acoustic signals is done by the operation of coring itself, or contacting the formation with a coring bit. Contacting includes impacting the coring bit radially against the wellbore's sidewall, or moving the bit laterally after coring operations have initiated.

Abstract: A method includes: (a) determining an engine speed of an internal combustion engine, wherein the internal combustion engine has an engine wall, and the engine wall has a wall temperature; (b) determining an engine load of the internal combustion engine; (c) determining a wall-reference temperature as a function of the engine load and the engine speed of the internal combustion engine; and (d) adjusting, using a cooling system, a volumetric flow rate of a coolant flowing through the internal combustion engine to maintain the wall temperature at the wall-reference temperature.
