Abstract: An electric machine includes a stator core defining circumferentially-arranged slots each having radial pin positions arranged to define radial layers and a hairpin winding including a first path of interconnected hairpins disposed in the stator core. The hairpins are arranged such that a leg portion of each hairpin is routed through a radial pin position of each slot wherein at least one uniquely-pitched hairpin is provided along the first path to induce a first shift in a trailing portion of the first path.
Abstract: Various embodiments of a technique to securely process and transfer a token in a distributed chain database are described herein. The technique includes receiving a valid call to a transfer function to execute a transfer, intercepting the transfer function call and routing a check function to an authorization service that is executed on a chain database, and determining in the authorization service whether the transfer is authorized. The authorization service includes a state that is controlled by a process that is executed off the chain database and returns a value that indicates whether the transfer can proceed. The system then determines whether to validate or invalidate the transfer in response to the returned value.

Abstract: Cooling systems for LED headlight bulbs are disclosed. In some examples, a headlight bulb assembly for a vehicle headlight includes a circuit board and a first light emitting diode (LED) on the first side of the circuit board and a second LED on the second side of the circuit board. The headlight bulb assembly includes a shell at least partially enclosing the circuit board. The shell defines a sealed interior fan housing, an air intake on the first side of the circuit board, and an air exhaust on the second side of the circuit board. A circulator fan in the sealed interior fan housing is configured to draw air into the sealed interior fan housing through the air intake. The circulator fan is configured to expel the air from the sealed interior fan housing through the air exhaust.
Abstract: A system and method of controlling water imbalance in an electrochemical cell is provided. The method includes determining a present water imbalance in the electrochemical cell by summing a waterin and a watercreated less a waterout. Waterin represents an amount of water introduced into the electrochemical cell by an oxidant feed gas; watercreated represents an amount of water created by the electrochemical cell from the electrochemical reaction; and waterout represents an amount of water discharged from the electrochemical cell by an oxidant exhaust gas. The method includes tracking a cumulative water imbalance during operation of the electrochemical cell by repeatedly determining the present water imbalance and continuing to sum the results during operation. And, the method also includes adjusting a flow rate of the oxidant feed gas entering the electrochemical cell based on the cumulative water imbalance.
Abstract: Polymeric tubing, for use with catheters or other medical devices, where the polymeric tubing can have regions of customized properties including, but not limited to, durometer, torque control, flexibility, axial strength, stiffness, etc. One variation of the device allows for transitions between regions to be configured such that there can be gradual or customized transitions between various regions such that the structural characteristics differential between the regions selectively designed. Additional variations include outer layers having a plurality of material sections extending in a spiral direction along the axial length to form a continuous wall of the outer layer. In certain variations, the structural characteristic differential is minimized or eliminated as compared to conventional catheters.
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for enabling presence-based and/or use-based services. In one embodiment, a presence database and an evaluation entity collect information relating to a device's location and activity. The presence database collects location-based data to build anonymized user profiles; estimates a physical location of the device; and provides targeted content to the device. The user profiles are stored at e.g., a user premises, or at a headend network or elsewhere within the “cloud”. Additionally, in one variant, signals are collected from “smart” appliances (in a home or other premises) to create personal, shared, and family environmental settings which are instantiated when a user enters the premises. Methods and apparatus to collect browsing behavior across desktop and mobile devices on third party sites (including web browsing, social networking, and e-commerce) which are represented by the managed network are also provided.
Abstract: A method for reducing firmware size and increasing firmware performance. Core timing control conditions used by a die controller are converted into production ready core timing control conditions, from which firmware instructions are then generated. The production ready core timing control conditions comprise a plurality of fixed core timing control conditions. The firmware instructions are modified to determine core timing control condition values for fixed core timing control conditions before implementing storage operations, to store the core timing control condition values in global condition registers, and to modify references to fixed core timing control conditions to access the values in those global condition registers. Finally, the modified firmware instructions are stored on the die controller, which comprises a microcontroller configured to execute them.
Abstract: In one embodiment, a catheter pump assembly is disclosed. The catheter pump assembly can include an impeller assembly. A catheter body can be coupled with the proximal end of the impeller assembly, the catheter body having a reduced stiffness section disposed proximally of the impeller assembly. A sheath assembly can be configured to be translate over the catheter body relative to the impeller assembly from an impeller assembly delivery position to an impeller assembly deployment position. When the sheath assembly is in the impeller assembly deployment position, a reduction in stiffness is provided between the distal end of the sheath assembly and the impeller assembly.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems for wireless communications are described. Example methods, devices, and systems are described that utilize a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) computed based at least in part on first signals received via a first cell and on second signals received via a second cell. Information in a measurement information message may be used as part of computing a PMI. The measurement information message may indicate resources of a first cell and a second cell for use in computing the PMI. A wireless device may receive first signals via the first cell and second signals via the second cell based on information in the measurement information message, and may use these signals to compute the PMI. The computed PMI may be used in communications with a base station. For example, the wireless device may receive a packet beamformed employing the computed PMI.

The tool includes a body having first and second body sections joined to one another and movable between an open position and a closed position. The body sections, when joined to one another define a circular central opening. The circular central opening has a diameter about equal to the diameter of the outer insulation covering. A cutting blade is positioned in one of the first and second section sections extending inwardly of the circular central opening a distance equal to one-half of a difference between the diameter of the outer insulation covering and the diameter of the central tube.
