Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine, an electric machine, and a controller. The engine and the electric machine are configured to simultaneously generate power in a hybrid mode. The controller is programmed to, responsive to a power demand decreasing to less than a first threshold while the vehicle is operating in the hybrid mode, shutdown the engine. The controller is further programmed to, responsive to the power demand decreasing to less than the first threshold and an operator input to extend the hybrid mode, override shutting down the engine.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are presented herein for providing lower level physical-layer gateway functionalities and upper-level application functionalities; a system designed with flexible configurations in order to support a wide range of connected applications. The system includes a processor that executes machine instructions to perform operations. The operations comprise: receiving sensor data from a sensor device located in a building; converting the sensor data from a raw state to a physical measurement; and activating an abatement device situated in the building as a function of the physical measurement.

Abstract: The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods associated with communicating privacy rights pertaining to data captured from a vehicle. An example method executed by a processor of a data capture apparatus in a vehicle can include capturing an image. In an example scenario, the image may include an individual who is located outside the vehicle. Furthermore, in some cases, the image can be a part of a video clip containing multiple images. The method further includes generating an identifier for identifying the image(s). The identifier can be a machine-readable symbol such as, for example, a QR-code symbol or a barcode. A notification that includes the identifier may be generated and conveyed to the individual for use by the individual to exercise his/her rights to privacy with respect to the images in which he/she is present.

Abstract: A varifocal ocular lens is disclosed. The varifocal ocular lens is based on a pancake lens having a polarization-folded optical path formed by two reflectors, e.g. one polarization-selective reflector and one partial reflector. By placing at least one of the reflectors onto a flexible deformable membrane, the shape e.g. radius of curvature and/or cylindricity of the reflector(s) may be dynamically changed to vary focal length and/or astigmatism of the ocular lens. Viewer's visual prescription and eye vergence may be dynamically and/or statically accommodated by the varifocal lens.

Abstract: This disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods related to tool tracking. In an example embodiment, a method may involve detecting, by a tool monitoring device, a failure of a wireless communication system included in a tool that is stored in an enclosure. The tool monitoring device may determine that the failure is attributable to a temperature in the enclosure being outside an operating temperature range of the wireless communication system. A notification of the failure and/or a description of a cause for the failure may be displayed on a display screen of the tool monitoring device and/or transmitted to a tool tracking device. In an example implementation, the tool tracking device is located outside a vehicle, the enclosure is a toolbox placed in the vehicle, and the tool monitoring device, which is configured to monitor an operational status of the wireless communication system, is located in the vehicle.

Abstract: A vacuum station comprising a main housing and a pair of arms extending from the main housing. The arms are configured to hold a roller. The main housing has a front face and a rear face, with the front face having a recess therein. An air path extends from the front face to the rear face. The vacuum station also includes a removable plate having a plurality of suction holes therethrough located within the recess in the front face of the main housing. The removable plate is removably connected to the main housing by magnets. A sheet of labels can be held to the removable plate by a suction force through the air path in the main housing and the suction holes in the removable plate.

Abstract: A method for video encoding includes determining an intra prediction angle for encoding a current block in a coded video sequence, the intra prediction angle being (i) beyond a bottom left direction diagonal mode, or (ii) beyond a top right direction diagonal mode. The method further includes determining an intra prediction mode corresponding to the intra prediction angle used to encode the current block based on a predetermined relationship between a plurality of intra prediction modes and a corresponding plurality of intra prediction angles, and generating prediction information indicating the determined intra prediction mode corresponding to the intra prediction angle used to encode the current block.

Abstract: A system for simulating network configurations includes data processing hardware and memory hardware in communication with the data processing hardware. The memory hardware stores instructions that when executed on the data processing hardware cause the data processing hardware to perform operations. The operation includes receiving one or more parameter changes for a production network model of a network. The operations also include generating a simulation network model including the one or more parameter changes. Another operation includes analyzing the simulated network flow within the simulation network model. The operations also include generating a report including an impact of the parameter changes on the network. The operations may also include receiving a production network log including a recorded workflow for the production network model and simulating the production workflow of the production network log within the simulation network model to generate a simulated network log.

Abstract: Display systems, such as near eye display systems or wearable heads up displays, may include a laser projection system having an optical engine and an optical scanner. Light output by the optical engine may be directed into the optical scanner as two angularly separated laser light beams. The angularly separated laser light beams typically have different angles of incidence on a second scan mirror of the optical scanner. Respectively different levels of magnification are applied to the beam diameter of each of the angularly separated laser light beams in a first dimension, such that the angularly separated laser light beams have respectively different beam diameters upon incidence at the second scan mirror. In some embodiments, the different beam diameters of the angularly separated laser light beams result in regions of incidence of each of the angularly separated laser light beams on the second scan mirror being equal or substantially similar.

Abstract: Mechanisms provide intermediate key frame animation during a media seek. A streaming server receives a seek request from a client device while the streaming server provides the client device with a media stream. The seek request is made when the media stream is playing at an initial location and the seek request includes a request to play the media stream from a seek location. In some embodiments, intermediate key frames before the seek location are identified. In other instances, intermediate key frames between the initial location and the seek location are identified. These intermediate key frames are provided to the client device for display before the media stream begins playing at the seek location.

In some embodiments, a computer-implemented method comprises: receiving, from a user device, a request to present a video content item, wherein the video content item includes an audio portion; identifying a segment of the audio portion as including a particular type of audio content (e.g., silent content, music content, speech content, theatrical content, non-musical content, etc.); determining a consumption mode associated with the user device; generating a modified video content item based on the consumption mode associated with the user device by removing a portion of the video content item that corresponds to the segment of the audio portion identified as including the particular type of audio content; and causing the modified video content item to be presented on the user device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a geofence-based location tracking and notification triggering system. One of the methods includes obtaining location information associated with a user device; accessing information indicating entities located within one or more threshold distances of the obtained location; determining whether a user of the user device satisfies constraints specified by the entities; and generating a notification to be provided to the user device, the notification indicating information associated with at least one entity for which the user satisfies specified constraints. Preferably, the notification is in the form of a text messages, which provides advantages for real-time notifications with increased spatial relevance to a user.

In some implementations, the recipient device can be an other interactive necklace that performs a mapped interactive necklace action in response to the received message. For example, a wearer of the recipient interactive necklace can perceive sentiments, emotions, and/or reactions from a user wearing the originating interactive necklace by perceiving interactive necklace actions triggered by the received message.
