Abstract: A differential locking system that can rotationally lock a shift fork and a sliding clutch assembly to ensure correct engagement of an axle shaft with a sliding clutch assembly during reassembly of an axle shaft. The differential locking system includes a first portion of a push rod is selectively engaged with a portion of the shift fork and a second portion of the push rod is selectively engaged with a portion of a carrier housing.

Abstract: One or more cables are axially, laterally, and/or rotationally secured to an anchor member. A plug connector can be assembled to or around the anchor member. The anchor member also can be used to handle the cable prior to assembling the plug connector. A connectorization system for assembling plug connectors includes multiple types/sizes of cables; optionally types/sizes of plug bodies; and the anchor member sized and shaped to connect a selected one of any of the cables with any of the plug bodies of the connectorization system.

Abstract: An example intent-recognition system comprises a processor and memory storing instructions. The instructions cause the processor to receive speech input comprising spoken words. The instructions cause the processor to generate text results based on the speech input and generate acoustic feature annotations based on the speech input. The instructions also cause the processor to apply an intent model to the text result and the acoustic feature annotations to recognize an intent based on the speech input. An example system for adapting an emotional text-to-speech model comprises a processor and memory. The memory stores instructions that cause the processor to receive training examples comprising speech input and receive labelling data comprising emotion information associated with the speech input. The instructions also cause the processor to extract audio signal vectors from the training examples and generate an emotion-adapted voice font model based on the audio signal vectors and the labelling data.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program products for providing geographically targeted weather-based marketing in a social network. For example, the method operates by receiving weather-driven marketing recommendation data based on an analysis of historical weather data, historical sales data and a weather forecast, and transforming the weather-driven marketing recommendation data into electronic marketing content. The marketing content can then be transmitted to a social network for targeted publishing.

Abstract: Gait, the walking pattern of individuals, is one of the most important biometrics modalities. Most of the existing gait recognition methods take silhouettes or articulated body models as the gait features. These methods suffer from degraded recognition performance when handling confounding variables, such as clothing, carrying and view angle. To remedy this issue, a novel AutoEncoder framework is presented to explicitly disentangle pose and appearance features from RGB imagery and a long short-term memory integration of pose features over time produces the gait feature.

Abstract: A gesture based authentication system for an autonomous vehicle (AV) uses light detecting and ranging (lidar) to observe a user making a specific gesture and, in response to observing the gesture, authorizes the user to access the vehicle. The authentication system may first identify a human in the vicinity of the AV, and then compare a body position of the identified human to a model trained to determine if a human is performing the specific gesture. If the model determines that the identified human is performing the gesture, the AV authorizes the user to access the vehicle, e.g., to accept a delivery or to ride in the AV.

Abstract: An augmented reality-based content authoring tool is presented. A content author arranges machine-recognizable markers in a physical environment. A computing device operating as the authoring tool recognizes the markers and their arrangement based on a captured digital representation of the physical environment. Once recognized, augmented reality primitives corresponding to the markers can be bound together via their primitive interfaces to give rise to a content set. The individual primitives and content set are instantiated based on the nature of the marker's arrangement.

Abstract: The present application pertains to novel methods to generate power. In a representative embodiment, power is generated by warming a body of air having a temperature lower than the freezing point of liquid water by contacting the body of air with liquid water. The liquid water has a temperature greater than the freezing point of liquid water. Liquid water freezes thereby generating latent heat from freezing and thereby warming the body of air. The warmed body of air may be passed through an air turbine to generate power. Other methods and systems are described that use similar principles.

Abstract: In one aspect, an angle sensor includes analog circuitry configured to generate an analog value having a tangent value, an analog-to-digital converter configured to convert the analog value to a digital value and digital circuitry configured to receive the digital value. The analog circuitry includes a plurality of magnetoresistance elements that include a first magnetoresistance element configured to provide a cosine value indicative of a magnetic field along a first axis and a second magnetoresistance element configured to provide a sine value indicative of the magnetic field along a second axis orthogonal to the first axis. The tangent value is determined by the cosine and sine values. The digital circuitry includes an angle processor configured to use the digital value and a fixed value in an arctangent algorithm to generate an angle of a direction of the magnetic field.

Abstract: A file server and a method of operating a file server where version identifiers for documents on the server are maintained as a branched tree. When a client computer attempts to sync up a new version of a file, it must upload the version identifier that it received when it synced down the file. The file server compares this version identifier to the numbers in its version tree for the file and may place the document in the correct place in the tree structure, which may not be as the “latest version” of the document. If the client is using an outdated version of the document, the server may also sync down the latest version of the file. The user may view the changes to the version tree and reconcile different versions to create an authoritative version, and this review and reconciliation may occur at any time, instead of being performed at the moment that the file is saved or forking the file into a new filename.

Systems include non-volatile memory devices which include a first counter configured to store a first plurality of data values representing a plurality of count operations, and a second counter configured to store a second plurality of data values representing a number of erase operations applied to the first counter. Systems further include control circuitry configured to implement read, write, and erase operations for the first counter and the second counter, determine a partial count value based, at least in part, on a current value of the second counter and at least one physical parameter of the first counter, and generate a count value by adding the partial count value with a current value of the first counter. Such counters and control circuitry are immune data loss due to power loss events.

Abstract: Embodiments in accordance with the present invention encompass compositions encompassing a latent organo-ruthenium compound, a pyridine compound, a photosensitizer and an ultra violet light blocking compound along with one or more monomers which undergo ring open metathesis polymerization (ROMP) when said composition is exposed to suitable actinic radiation to form a substantially transparent film or a three dimensional object. Surprisingly, the compositions are very stable at ambient conditions to temperatures up to 80° C. for several days and undergo mass polymerization only when subjected to actinic radiation under inert atmosphere such as for example a blanket of nitrogen. Accordingly, compositions of this invention are useful in various opto-electronic applications, including as 3D printing materials, coatings, encapsulants, fillers, leveling agents, among others.

Abstract: An imaging system may include a silicon photomultiplier with single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs). The imaging system may be a LIDAR imaging system with LIDAR processing circuitry. To reduce memory requirements in the LIDAR processing circuitry, a dynamic resolution storage scheme may be used. The LIDAR processing circuitry may include autonomous dynamic resolution circuitry that receives input from a time-to-digital converter (TDC). The autonomous dynamic resolution circuitry may include a plurality of memory banks having different resolutions. Based on the magnitude of the input from the TDC, an appropriate memory bank may be selected. In parallel, an address encoder may select a memory bin based on the input from the TDC.
