  • Patent number: 11062686
Abstract: Damped highly stressed engineering components are disclosed. The disclosed inventive concept provides a method and system for increasing the damping capacity of an engineering system by adding a non-flat solid, highly damped insert to a system component that contributes most to the system's dynamic response. A friction damped insert can either be embedded into the damped components during casting or fastened to the outer surface of the damped component. The insert is made of the single layer of flexible material by forming it into a rigid elongated body. The layer of material can be turned over on itself without folding to create a cylinder or can be folded over a number of times to create a prismatic bar. The layer of material may be shaped into a corrugated panel. The layer of flexible material may have a number of relatively small openings or perforations with a uniform spatial distribution.

  • Patent number: 11061956
Abstract: The following disclosure provides a system that filters and batches changes to improve communication between an application and an add-in. In some embodiments, the application batches a threshold number of changes made to a section of content. Using a threshold regulates the rate of updates to the add-in. In some embodiments, changes can be filtered based on the type of change (e.g. text changes, style changes, etc.) or the type of input that caused the change (e.g. keyboard input, cut and paste command, etc.). Filtering changes can reduce traffic between the application and the add-in, preventing the add-in from being overwhelmed and improving application responsiveness.

  • Patent number: 11063696
Abstract: Disclosed in some examples are methods, systems, devices, and machine-readable mediums which optimize one or more metrics of a communication system by intentionally changing symbols in a bitstream after encoding by, an error correction coder, but prior to transmission. The symbols may be changed to meet a communication metric optimization goal, such as decreasing a high PAPR, reducing an error rate, reducing an average power level (to save battery), or altering some other communication metric. The symbol that is intentionally changed is then detected by the receiver as an error and corrected by the receiver utilizing the error correction coding.

  • Patent number: 11061596
Abstract: A system and method for repartitioning data in a distributed network. The method may include executing, by one or more processors, a first pass of a data set from a plurality of first sources to a plurality of first sinks, each first sink collecting data from one or more of the first sources, and executing, by the one or more processors, a second pass of the data set from a plurality of second sources to a plurality of second sinks, each one of the plurality of first sinks corresponding to one of the plurality of second sources, and each second sink collecting data from one or more of the second sources. Executing the first and second passes causes the data set to be repartitioned such that one or more second sinks collect data that originated from two or more of the first sources.

  • Patent number: 11059233
Abstract: A laser welding method and system for joining portions of first and second workpieces of thermoplastic material that is partially permeable to a laser beam but absorbs radiation from the laser beam. The first and second workpieces, which are made of material that absorbs radiation from a laser beam, are clamped together. A mask is placed on a first surface of the first workpiece, the first surface being opposite the surface engaging the second workpiece. The mask is impermeable to a laser beam and forms a slot for passing a laser beam to the portion of the first surface of the upper workpiece exposed by the slot, so that heating and melting of the material of the workpieces is limited to the width of the slot. A laser beam is directed onto the slot and moved in a manner to illuminate the slot to melt and join the workpieces.

  • Patent number: 11063974
Abstract: A collection of techniques is disclosed to allow for the detection of malware that leverages pattern recognition and machine learning to effectively provide “content-less” malware detection, i.e., detecting a process as being an ‘anomaly’ not based on its particular content, but instead based on comparisons of its behavior to known (and characterized) ‘trusted’ application behaviors, i.e., the trusted applications' “phenotypes” and/or the phenotypes of known malware applications. By analyzing the patterns of normal behavior performed by trusted applications as well as malware applications, one can build a set of sophisticated, content-agnostic behavioral models (i.e.

  • Patent number: 11064141
Abstract: An image sensor may include an array of image pixels. Control circuitry coupled to the array of pixels may be configured to operate the image pixels in an overflow mode of operation, in which each pixel generates an overflow image signal and a complete image signal from a single exposure time period. The overflow image signals and the complete image signals from the pixels may be used to generate a high dynamic range image. While the floating diffusion region in each pixel is not in use, control circuitry may control that pixel to generate a reference signal at the floating diffusion region indicative of pixel-specific dark signal noise. Processing circuitry may mitigate for dark signal non-uniformity across the pixels by correcting the complete image signals using the reference signal to remove dark signal noise in the complete image signals.
