  • Patent number: 10993119
Abstract: The device may be enabled to be connected to a first and second cellular network at two different towers simultaneously to provide more reliable connections, or to split voice and data traffic. The devices may further be enabled to selectively turn off radios and place such radios in wait states or low power listen states based on the network connectivity, application rules and application hierarchies. Sensors may forward packets to a mobile device when in the vicinity and these packets may be synchronized selectively with a network server when the mobile device is connected to a network and has sufficient or cheap bandwidth. Various IoT and sensor devices may use non reliable transmit and receive protocols in addition to TCP/IP for uncritical data.

  • Patent number: 10990345
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving playback statuses from a first user computing device and a second user computing device that are in a synchronous presentation session. Content presented on the first and second user computing devices may be determined to be out of synchronization. User behavioral rules associated with the first user computing device may be accessed. The user behavioral rules may be learned based on past behavior of the first user in the synchronous presentation session. A synchronization message may be generated to send to the first user computing device based on the user behavioral rules. The synchronization message may include instructions for the first user computing device to perform an action to cause the content being presented by the first user computing device to be synchronized with the content being presented by the second user computing device.

  • Patent number: 10992969
Abstract: A video delivery system alters information (such as time stamp information) associated with one or more frames of a first compressed video file to allow for accurate rendering of frames within the first compressed video file prior to a transition to a second compressed video file. For example, a time stamp of a particular frame of a compressed video file is altered prior to transmission of the particular frame by a video transmission system such that the altered time stamp indicates a time that has already passed. The particular frame can be decoded by a display system that receives the particular frame so that information included in the particular frame can be used in rendering of subsequently received frames. The display system can bypass display of the particular frame due to the altered time stamp.

  • Patent number: 10993220
Abstract: A wireless device receives a sounding reference signal (SRS) request field and an ending symbol field for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). The SRS request field indicates an SRS is not transmitted in a last symbol of a subframe of an unlicensed cell. The ending symbol field indicates the PUSCH is not transmitted in the last symbol for a first listen before talk procedure to be performed during the last symbol. A packet is transmitted in the subframe via the PUSCH based on the ending symbol field.

  • Patent number: 10989599
Abstract: A method for spectral filtering an input optical signal is described. The filtering system uses Brillouin gain inside an interferometer. The interferometer is biased to null signals that propagate without Brillouin gain, but due to asymmetric levels of gain in the interferometer arms the interference null is disturbed for signals of an optical frequency that experience Brillouin gain. The filter thereby preferentially passes signal frequencies that are inside the Brillouin gain bandwidth creating a high extinction ratio filter. The narrow bandwidth of the Brillouin gain effect can allow for spectrally narrow filters such as 30 MHz. The filter can be realized in a stable Sagnac loop configuration even if the pump and signal are combined prior to the Sagnac loop by using a power control device such as an attenuator placed asymmetrically inside the loop. The filter can achieve net gain and can be designed to have a tunable bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 10992096
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fiber encapsulation mechanism for energy dissipation in a fiber amplifying system. One example embodiment includes an optical fiber amplifier. The optical fiber amplifier includes an optical fiber that includes a gain medium, as well as a polymer layer that at least partially surrounds the optical fiber. The polymer layer is optically transparent. In addition, the optical fiber amplifier includes a pump source. Optical pumping by the pump source amplifies optical signals in the optical fiber and generates excess heat and excess photons. The optical fiber amplifier additionally includes a heatsink layer disposed adjacent to the polymer layer. The heatsink layer conducts the excess heat away from the optical fiber. Further, the optical fiber amplifier includes an optically transparent layer disposed adjacent to the polymer layer. • Patent number: 10992292
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media described herein can be operable to facilitate transitioning a device from a first state to a second state. A switch described herein allows for the use of an electronic circuit to perform the toggle and persistence functions while simultaneously giving more flexibility to the industrial design and physical switch implementation. The switch allows this preserving of the state using only a toggle on a voltage and thus allowing for a hardware only solution. The switch described herein allows for the use of smaller and less complicated mechanical switches allowing for more compact industrial designs. The switch uses a programmable voltage reference as a 1 bit non-volatile memory cell that is programmed by means of a logic pulse to the device. This allows a software independent setting of the state of the privacy switch. This state will remain through power cycles.
