Abstract: A releasable elongated assembly includes a release member having a length and an opening that extends along the length. The releasable elongated assembly includes a first elongated element having a first coupling member disposed in the opening and a second elongated element having a second coupling member disposed in the opening opposite the first coupling member along the length. The first and second elongated elements are interlaced with each other in the opening at a location between the first coupling member and the second coupling member such that the first and second elongated elements are attached to each other. The release member is moveable from a first position where the first and second coupling members are captured in the opening to a second position where the first and second coupling members are released from the opening so as to detach the first and second elongated elements from each other.

Abstract: A waste service management system, method, and computer program product improve waste services by responding to air quality that is outside and inside a waste service vehicle. A controller monitors at least one exterior air quality sensor that is mounted to, and exposed to air exterior to, the waste service vehicle. The controller monitors at least one interior air quality sensor that is mounted to the waste service vehicle and exposed to air interior to a waste hauling body that is one of carried and attached to the waste service vehicle. The controller compares measurement levels of exterior and interior airborne chemical constituents to one or more corresponding air quality thresholds. Abstract: A load control device (e.g., a switching device) for controlling power delivered from an AC power source to an electrical device (e.g., a lighting load) may be configured to detect that a relay is stuck closed and attempt to fix the relay. The relay of the load control device may be adapted to be coupled between the source and the electrical device to control the power delivered to the electrical device so as to generate a switched-hot voltage. The load control device may comprise a detect circuit configured to generate a detect signal indicating a magnitude of the switched-hot voltage, and a control circuit configured to monitor the detect signal. The control circuit may be configured to determine that the relay is stuck closed in response to the detect signal, and to control the relay in order to attempt to fix the relay by repeatedly closing and opening the relay.
Abstract: A controller is for use in a power converter having a flyback transformer having a primary winding switched by a primary side transistor and a secondary winding switched by a secondary side transistor. The controller includes a line voltage detection circuit that activates a high line detect signal in response to detecting that an input line voltage is greater than a first threshold, a discontinuous conduction mode detection circuit activates a discontinuous conduction mode signal in response to detecting that the controller is operating in discontinuous conduction mode, and a switching controller coupled to the line voltage detection circuit and to the discontinuous conduction mode detection circuit that controls the primary side transistor and the secondary side transistor using partial zero voltage switching in response to an activation of the high line detect signal and the discontinuous conduction mode signal, and without using partial zero voltage switching otherwise.

Abstract: Described herein is a system and method for validating media integrity using asymmetric key cryptography utilizing a public/private cryptographic key pair. The private key is kept secret and is known to an originator and/or publisher of a media file. The public key is added to the media file and is used to validate integrity of the media file, that is, that content of the media file (e.g., portion(s), frame(s)) has not been altered since publication of the media file. By validating integrity of the media file, strong proof that the media file came from an owner of the keypair (e.g., had possession of the private key) can be obtained, for example, resolving issues of trust and/or authenticity common in altered content. In some embodiments, information regarding an origin of the content can further be determined.

Abstract: A golf ball with embedded electronics to allow proximity to be tracked and to monitor golfer performance is disclosed. The communications circuitry is configured to communicate the accelerometer data, the rotation direction, and the rotation speed to a central interrogator for analysis of a golfer's performance.

Abstract: An uneven distributed storage across a mesh fabric storage system may include receiving storage operations from one or more client devices and/or applications contemporaneously with receiving availability messaging from a set of multiple storage devices that may be of the same or different types. One or more of the storage operations may be assigned to a storage device that has signaled its readiness to perform the one or more storage operations via an issued availability message. Each storage device may thereby perform a subset of the collective set of storage operations with the uneven distribution allocating load that is directly commensurate with the performance of each storage device. Stored data may be moved between storage devices using a similar availability-driven methodology so as to reallocate capacity usage while still providing the fastest storage performance associated with all storage devices writing the data as it is generated.
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for generating synthetic genomic datasets and validating bioinformatic pipelines for genomic analysis are disclosed. In preferred embodiments, synthetic maternal and paternal datasets with known variants are used with matched normal synthetic datasets to validate various bioinformatic pipelines. Bioinformatic pipelines are evaluated using the synthetic datasets to assess design changes and improvements. Accuracy, PPV, specificity, sensitivity, reproducibility, and limit of detection of the pipelines in calling variants in synthetic datasets is reported.
