    Abstract: A treatment method for polythiol compounds used in thiol-ene formulations, especially formulations employing norbornene resins, significantly improves cure speed retention on aging of thiol-ene formulations which include hydroxylamine salts, such as N-nitrosoarylhydroxylamine aluminum salts, as shelf-life stabilizers. The treatment comprises contacting the polythiol with an amphoteric treating agent selected from the group consisting of silicated magnesium oxide, magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide, calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide, barium oxide, and barium hydroxide, and then separating the resin from the treating agent prior to mixture with a polyene to form a thiol-ene composition. In formulations employing phenolic compounds having an alkenyl group in conjugation with the phenyl group thereof as shelf-life co-stabilizers the treatment method also significantly enhances the shelf-life stability of the formulation compared to formulations made from untreated polythiol.

    Abstract: Anionically polymerizable monomers containing at least one silicon or titanium atom form polymeric photoresists having good dry etch resistance for use in microlithography. The monomers are of the formula ##STR1## wherein A is --H or --CH.dbd.CH.sub.2 ; X is a strong electron withdrawing group;Y is a strong electron withdrawing group containing at least one silicon or titanium atom.Preferably Y is ##STR2## wherein n is 1-5 and R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl. A particularly preferred monomer is 3-trimethylsilylpropyl 2-cyanoacrylate.Methods for applying a resist coating by vapor deposition of these monomers and exposure to radiation are described. A positive or negative tone image can be produced, depending upon the imaging method employed. The imaging layer may be applied over a planarizing layer to form a multilayer photoresist.

    Abstract: A two-part RTV silicone preapplied compression gasket material for forming compression gaskets in place. The formulation includes a silanol terminated polyorganosiloxane, at least 5% by weight of the formulation of a tri- or tetra- methoxy or enoxy functional silane crosslinker, water, and, a condensation catalyst selected from the group consisting of stannous carboxylate compounds, dimethyl tin (IV) compounds and mixtures thereof. One of the two parts of the formulation includes the water component and the other of said two parts is a dry part and includes the crosslinker component.The formulation provides fast cure, fast development of compression set resistance and excellent ultimate compression set resistance.

    Abstract: An inverter circuit for providing an AC driver voltage for a capacitive load from a DC input voltage. The circuit uses a pair of balanced transistors supplying a split primary winding of a transformer, a feedback winding thereof being coupled thereto to supply a feedback signal to the transistor inputs. Resistors are used to optimize inverter efficiency by adjusting transformer saturation and the DC bias of the drive transistors. A capacitor is connected across the two primaries to provide harmonic suppression an aid in starting the inverter. A second capacitor, connected from base to collector of the transistors opposite the transistor with DC bias being introduced, provides suppression of undesirable high frequencies which will occur if this capacitor is not present. The AC output is supplied from the secondary winding of the transformer.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing an alkoxy silyl-terminated material, which has at least one alkoxy group on at least one terminal end, said process comprising reacting in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of an organo-lithium reagent an alkoxysilyl-terminated first reactant with a second reactant having at least one end of its chain terminating in silanol groups. The alkoxy silyl-terminated material may have a variety of polymer backbone types such as silicone, polyurethane, polyamide and the like. These materials are intended to cure by either moisture cure or by dual moisture and photo cure mechanisms. The alkoxy silyl-terminated material is preferably an organopoly-siloxane having alkoxy groups at its terminal ends. The resultant alkoxy-terminated organopolysiloxanes are substantially stable materials as measured by preservation and maintenance of viscosity values (cps) over time.

    Abstract: A dispensing apparatus capable of dispensing a wide variety of fluids, such as adhesives, is provided. The structure of the apparatus allows it to be miniaturized, thereby facilitating its use for many applications. The apparatus includes a cylindrical housing in which a slide is mounted. The housing includes a fluid reservoir which is supplied with pressurized fluid. A longitudinal passage extends through the slide for providing this fluid to the reservoir. A bellow seal is employed for sealing off an actuating mechanism from the reservoir. The seal is connected between the slide and a support fixedly mounted to the housing. A valve mechanism is provided at one end of the housing for controlling the flow of fluid from the reservoir. The valve mechanism is directly or indirectly responsive to the slide. Fluid may be caused to flow through the valve mechanism either by fluid pressure or by positive displacement.

    Abstract: Modular positive displacement apparatus for dispensing precise quantities of a fluid product including a dispensing unit and an actuator unit. A housing of the dispensing unit defines a reservoir which contains the product under pressure. Within the housing is a ball-type closure mechanism. A deformable diaphragm isolates the reservoir from the mechanism which actuates the valve to prevent undesirable entry of the product. The diaphragm may be of a number of shapes, depending upon the length of the stroke desired for the ball mechanism. The dispensing unit is readily removable from the actuator unit and can be readily replaced with another dispensing unit. Different nozzle sizes can also be accommodated. The extent of the closure opening is adjustable in discrete increments.
