  • Patent number: 4622761
Abstract: A drying apparatus for sheets of material. The apparatus includes a drying chamber through which a sheet of material which is to be dried is conveyed, and in which the sheet of material is contacted by flowing drying gas. The apparatus also includes a feed line for supplying drying gas to the apparatus, a heater for heating the drying gas, and a withdrawal line for withdrawing the drying gas from the apparatus. The drying chamber includes cup-shaped and rounded-off wall elements which are easily detachably connected to one another. The wall elements have a smooth inner surface. A jacket is disposed around the drying chamber. An intermediate space is defined between the inner surface of the jacket and the outer surface of the wall elements of the drying chamber. Drying gas is introduced through the feed line into the intermediate space. After this drying gas has been heated in the heater, it flows through the drying chamber.

  • Patent number: 4494967
Abstract: Solid and liquid, especially high-boiling, impurities are removed from a gas stream containing solvent vapors in such a manner that the gas stream is washed with the condensate of one or more solvent vapors contained in the gas stream, preferably with the fraction which has the greatest affinity for the impurities to be removed. After a distillatory separation of the impurities, as befits the goals of the process, the solvent or solvent mixture used for the washing process is returned again into the process, preferably after it has been removed from the gas stream by condensation and/or adsorption. The gas stream can be returned into a vaporization chamber where it is again charged with solvent vapors.

  • Patent number: 4478686
Abstract: A process for the recovery of solvents is disclosed. A hot carrier gas stream laden with solvent vapors from an evaporation space is compressed, cooled, and expanded with production of work for condensing and separating the solvent. The carrier gas stream lean in solvent vapors is conducted back into the evaporation space after being reheated. The whole of the work arising on expansion is transferred in direct mechanical coupling to one of two or more compression stages for compression of the carrier gas stream laden with solvent vapors. An apparatus for practicing the process is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4411075
Abstract: A process for drying solvent containing material is disclosed. The solvent containing material is passed through a drying chamber containing an inert gas. Inert gas is introduced into at least one lock chamber preceding and/or following the drying chamber. An annular flow of inert gas is produced in the lock chamber. A minor amount of the inert gas required for drying the material is jetted into the lock chamber proximate to the inlet and/or outlet opening of the drying chamber and a mixture of inert gas and sucked-in external air being discharged from the lock chamber in the peripheral region of the annular flow. The major portion of the inert gas is introduced directly into the drying chamber. An apparatus for practicing the invention is also disclosed.
