Publication number: 20100046527Abstract: A network configuration that supports latency-equalization (LEQ) routing by effectively “storing” packets on communication links, rather than at end points. A suitable network configuration is found by (i) identifying a candidate pool of routers through which the participating client terminals and application servers can exchange packets intended for LEQ routing and (ii) analyzing the delay inventory corresponding to the network paths connecting the client terminals and application servers, through those routers. Based on the analysis, M routers from the candidate pool are selected to serve as hub nodes. Each participating client terminal is assigned m of these M hub nodes and, thereafter, directs and receives its packets intended for LEQ routing through one of these m hub nodes.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2008Publication date: February 25, 2010Applicant: LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES INC.Inventors: Li Li, Marina K. Publication number: 20100040066Abstract: In one embodiment, IP lookup into a routing table having prefixes of different prefix lengths is performed using a Bloom filter that was programmed with the prefixes corresponding to all of the different prefix lengths without having to expand any of the prefixes programmed into the Bloom filter. Membership probes are performed into the Bloom filter using candidate prefix values of a given network address. The Bloom filter can be implemented in a distributed manner using Bloom sub-filters, where each Bloom sub-filter is hashed based on a set of hash functions, where each different hash function in the set corresponds to a different prefix length in the routing table. Each Bloom sub-filter can in turn be implemented using a plurality of practically realizable multi-port memory devices controlled by a port scheduler. False-positive matches can be detected and next-hop information for true-positive matches retrieved using an off-chip, hash-based prefix table.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2008Publication date: February 18, 2010Applicant: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Fang Hao, Muralidharan S. Publication number: 20100020383Abstract: In one embodiment, an infrared (IR) sensor has a flexible beam connected between two anchors supported on a substrate. The beam is mechanically coupled to a plate that has an IR-absorbing layer and is adapted to transfer the IR-induced heat to the beam. The heat transfer causes the beam to deform and move the plate with respect to the substrate. The motion of the plate is detected electrically or optically to quantify the amount of IR radiation received by the plate. The beam, anchors, and plate are formed from a planar layer of material that is supported at a specified offset distance from the substrate. During fabrication, certain portions of the planar layer are removed to define the beam, anchors, and plate.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 28, 2008Publication date: January 28, 2010Applicant: LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES INC.Inventor: Dennis S. Publication number: 20100020726Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for setting up a flow-through mesh group (FTMG) for transmitting link-state packets (LSPs) in a network having a plurality of nodes interconnected by links. The FTMG is a combination of multiple spanning trees for the network through which LSPs are forwarded. FTMG set-up messages are received at ports of each node of the network from peer ports of linked nodes. FTMG set-up messages identify root nodes of the multiple spanning trees and the transmission modes of the peer ports. The FTMG set-up messages are used to determine (1) a root node for each spanning tree, (2) a root port on each node for each spanning tree, and (3) directionality of ports of the nodes. FTMG set-up messages are then used to determine the transmission mode of ports of the nodes and, subsequently, to update the spanning trees and transmission modes, as needed.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2008Publication date: January 28, 2010Applicant: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Thomas P. Publication number: 20100020719Abstract: In one embodiment, an automatically maintained, distributed source tree (DST) network has a plurality of fully connected internal nodes. One or more internal nodes may be connected to one or more external nodes. A first internal node synchronizes its link-state database with another internal node by sending and receiving respective Reduced Sequence Number Packet-Data-Units (PDUs) (RSNPs). An RSNP includes summary information for link-state packets (LSPs) (1) originated by the first internal node, (2) received by the first internal node from the other internal node, and (3) received from and/or originated by external nodes. If an internal link fails, then the corresponding end-nodes may recover and maintain automatic DST operation by entering either relay-mode or switch-mode operation. In relay-mode operation, an end-node tunnels packets to the other end-node via an intermediary node. In switch-mode operation, an intermediary node is selected to forward packets from one end-node to the other end-node.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2008Publication date: January 28, 2010Applicant: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Thomas P. Publication number: 20100009701Abstract: A method of providing SMS delivery to recipients migrated across different technology networks. The method includes receiving a short message service (SMS) text message from a sender at a short message service center (SMSC), wherein the SMS text message includes a destination number for a recipient of the SMS text message. A first routing request is sent to a database in a first network for SMS routing information for the destination number via a first signal transfer point (STP). The first STP determines whether the destination number is a migrated or a non-migrated destination number based on data received from the first database. An an error indication is provided to the SMSC if the destination number and the first routing request are for different communication networks. Finally, a second routing request is sent to a second database in a second network for SMS routing information for the destination number via a second STP.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2008Publication date: January 14, 2010Applicant: LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES INC.Inventors: Yigang Cai, Alok Sharma
