Patent number: 10150873Abstract: Metals across all industries demand anti-corrosion surface treatments and drive a continual need for high-performing and low-cost coatings. Ordered thin films comprising aligned inorganic platelets dispersed in a polyelectrolyte polymer matrix provide a new class of transparent conformal barrier coatings for protection in corrosive atmospheres. For example, films assembled via layer-by-layer deposition, as thin as 90 nm, are shown to reduce copper corrosion rates by >1000× in an aggressive H2S atmosphere. These coatings can provide high-performing anti-corrosion treatment alternatives to costlier, more toxic, and less scalable thin films, such as graphene, hexavalent chromium, or atomic layer deposited metal oxides.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2018Date of Patent: December 11, 2018Assignees: National Technology & Engineering Solutions of Sandia, LLC, The Texas A&M University SystemInventors: Eric John Schindelholz, Erik David Spoerke, Neil R. Patent number: 10143246Abstract: A method and system are provided for cutting and placing individual nose wires in a facemask production line. A continuous wire is supplied from a source to a cutting station in the production line. At the cutting station, the wire is engaged with a set of driven feed rollers that advance the wire at a first speed to a cutting roller, wherein the wire is cut into individual nose wires. The individual nose wires from the cutting roller are then engaged by a set of delivery rollers to deposit the individual nose wires onto a running carrier web. The delivery rollers are independently driven relative to the feed rollers and cutting roller such that the nose wires from the cutting roller are initially accelerated and transported away from the cutting roller at a second speed that is greater than the first speed and then decelerated and moved onto the carrier web at a third speed that is less than the first speed.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2015Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: O&M Halyard, Inc.Inventors: Ajay Y. Patent number: 10148461Abstract: A receiver baseband processor and method for performing preamble detection and Time-of-Arrival, ToA, estimation for a single-tone frequency hopping random access preamble. The processor FFT processes a received signal and identifies logical tones. For each logical tone, the processor reads received symbols; determines a ToA estimate; forms a statistic based on the ToA estimate; compares the statistic to a preamble threshold; and when the statistic is greater than or equal to the threshold, determines a preamble is present and utilizes the ToA estimate for a timing advance command.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2016Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Xingqin Lin, Yi-Pin Eric Wang, Ansuman Adhikary

Patent number: 10147435Abstract: An audio signal, having first and second regions of frequency spectrum, is coded. Spectral peaks in the first region are encoded by a first coding method. For a segment of the audio signal, a relation between energy of bands in the first and second regions is determined. A relation between the energy of the band in the second region and energy of neighboring bands in the second region is determined. A determination is made whether available bits are sufficient for encoding at least one non-peak segment of the first region and the band in the second region. Responsive to first and second relations fulfilling a respective predetermined criterion and a sufficient number of bits, encoding the band in the second region using a second coding method different from the first coding method, and otherwise, subjecting the band in the second region to BandWidth Extension BWE or noise fill.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2017Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Erik Norvell, Volodya Grancharov
