    Abstract: The intake air filter according to the invention is for cleaning intake air for internal combustion engines, in particular in vehicles. To this end, the intake air filter comprises an openable housing (10) with an inlet (14) and an outlet (15). Disposed between the inlet (14) and the outlet (15) is an annular, closed main filter element (17) and an annular, closed secondary element (31). The secondary element (31) is connected to the outlet (15), whereby no contamination can pass through to the outlet (15) when the main filter element (17) is replaced. A centering device (29, 30, 40, 41, 42) is provided on the end face opposite the outlet (15) between the secondary element (31) and the main filter element (17), said centering device being used to fix the position of the secondary element (31) within the main filter element (17). This prevents relative movements between the main filter element (17) and the secondary element (31).

    Abstract: An active intake manifold system includes at least one flap cartridge assembly having a unitary cartridge housing including one or more flap valve housings. A flap valve is rotatable in the aperture of the flap valve housing between an open state and a closed state. A shaft is provided extending through the mounting ear apertures of the flap valves so that the flap valves change state in unison. A plurality of air intake runners provides air flow communication between the outlets of the flap valve housings and the cylinder intake valves of the engine. Each intake runner includes a main runner portion that then splits into a plurality of tracts of differing lengths with each tract tuned to a different predetermined engine speed and having a length and volume selected to optimize engine performance at the predetermined speed. The flap valves may be automatically operated by an actuator under control of an engine control system.

    Abstract: A separation cone (30) is mounted into the interior chamber of a centrifugal separator rotor (10), which comprises a cover (14) releasably connected to a base (16), in order to provide a frusto-conical wall subdividing the chamber into upper and lower regions. The separation cone (30) is connected to the cover (14) by a releasable snap fit arrangement, such as by deflectable tabs (38) around the periphery of the separation cone (30) engaging into a groove (15) around the interior surface adjacent a lower edge of the cover (14). This allows there to be a predetermined sequence of servicing operations and ensures that the separation cone (30) will reliably stay with the cover (14) when the cover is removed.
