  • Patent number: 6404420
Abstract: The invention relates to an electronic device having a rotary switch and a display screen for displaying information. It is the object of the invention further to develop such a device to the effect that it permits operation which is as universal as possible and simple. The invention is defined by the fact that the rotary switch is provided for the two-dimensional movement of at least one display element of the display screen, that a rotary movement of the rotary switch is provided for selecting the direction of movement of the display element, and that a first axial movement of the rotary switch is provided for moving the display element in the selected direction of movement.

  • Patent number: 6398130
Abstract: In a headlamp (2) having a housing (3), a headlamp cleaning system (5) is integrated in the housing (3). By this, the outlay during installation can be substantially reduced and at the same time the headlamp cleaning system (5) optimally matched to a lens (17) of the headlamp (2). At the same time, the housing (3) can optionally be fitted with or without the headlamp cleaning system (5), so that the installation procedure can be standardized. Moreover, retrofitting of the housing cleaning system (5) by simple exchange of the housing (3) is also possible.

  • Patent number: 6400181
Abstract: In a method and in a circuit arrangement for transmitting signals from an output of a first circuit to an input of a second circuit, where the circuits have a first and a second operating voltage and a first and a second ground potential applied to them, and where variable potential differences can arise between the ground potentials. A current controlled by the signal which is to be transmitted flows from the output of the first circuit to a circuit point having a further potential applied to it and controls a further current, which emanates from the circuit point and is supplied to the input of the second circuit, and the further potential is chosen such that a respective voltage enabling the current and the further current is present between the output of the first circuit and the further potential, on the one hand, and between the further potential and the input of the second circuit, on the other hand, for the potential differences which arise.

  • Patent number: 6397592
Abstract: A hydraulic system for a motor vehicle having a convertible top (2) which can be folded back has a convertible-top control system (1) and further hydraulic control devices (3, 4) which can be activated by a common hydraulic pump (6). In hydraulic lines (8, 9) leading to the convertible-top control system (1) there are arranged hydraulic valves (13, 14) which enable optional operation of the convertible-top control system (1) or of the further control devices (3, 4). Because of this, the hydraulic system turns out to be particularly simple structurally.

  • Patent number: 6397815
Abstract: A load adjusting device for a throttle (3) that determines the output of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle has an emergency-running spring (17) produced from an elastic material. A return spring (12) is configured as a steel spring and biases a lever (13) that is connected to the actuating shaft (2) via the emergency-running spring (17) against a stop (15) that is fixed to the housing. As a result, the load adjusting device is of particularly simple construction and can be produced cost-effectively.

  • Publication number: 20020063168
Abstract: In the case of a washer jet (15) with a supporting arm (16) which can be moved in a guide (20), an operating position of the washer jet (15) which is advantageous for cleaning a headlight (2) is achieved by means of a defined pivoting movement. For this purpose, the supporting arm (16) has two movably connected segments (18, 19) which are pivoted automatically into the operating position shown by means of a spring element (22) after being extended from the guide (20). The spray angle thereby achieved, which is advantageous for cleaning the headlight (2), allows a significant improved in cleaning performance. At the same time, the washer jet (15) can also be used in the case of restricted space conditions are requires only one drive.

  • Patent number: 6393652
Abstract: In a window and lens glass cleaning system for a window/lens glass of a motor vehicle, a washer nozzle, a heating element and a nonreturn valve are in each case arranged on or in a retaining part. • Patent number: 6395215
Abstract: In a method of producing a fuel tank from plastic, a heating element is located between two shell parts to be welded to one another. When the shell parts are pressed together, the heating element melts into the plastic and produces a weld that provides a fuel-resistant seal. The fuel tank subsequently has a particularly exact shape.

  • Patent number: 6396435
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining the perpendicular distance between an object and a device whose position varies, in particular a motor vehicle, in the case of which device a first sensor which is arranged on this device emits a signal which is reflected by the object, and this reflected signal is received by this first sensor, in which case the delay time of the signal from transmission to reception is used by the first sensor to determine the distance between the first sensor and the object.

  • Patent number: 6396552
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display (1), a laterally arranged light coupling surface (2) permits the active illumination of the liquid crystal display (1) by a light source (3). For this purpose, the liquid crystal display (1) has a light deflecting element (7) which deflects the incident optical radiation in the direction of a liquid crystal cell (5). The light polarized by means of a rear polarization filter (9) is reflected at a rear, reflective element (10) and deflected into the liquid crystal cell (1). The segmented display is therefore produced on a front side (14) of the liquid crystal display (1), provided with a front polarization filter (13). By contrast with known liquid crystal displays having a transflector, it is thereby possible substantially to reduce a possible color deviation and the limited readability associated therewith. At the same time, the cost of production and the overall space required are substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 6392677
Abstract: In the proposed tachograph, a thermal print head (29) and a feed roller (35) are spatially separated from one another. A starting section (38) of the printing material (32), which section projects by a suitable length, is automatically clamped between the thermal print head (29) and the feed roller (35) when the drawer (28) closes. One of the closure gaps of the drawer (28) is designed as an output slot (24) for the printed documents produced.

  • Patent number: 6390517
Abstract: A door lock (10) having an opening aid (26) has a rotatable lock latch (12), a detent pawl (18) arresting the latter in the latching position, and a driven driving pin (44) which opens the detent pawl (18) and can be blocked against a stop (50). The previously customary solution of providing the stop (50) on the detent pawl (18) restricts the structural design. In order to obtain more scope in the arrangement of the parts, it is proposed to arrange the stop (50) on a separate blocking lever (48) which can be carried along into its blocking position by the detent pawl (18) during the opening.

  • Patent number: 6386056
Abstract: A worm-gear has an electric motor, which drives a worm, which meshes with a worm-wheel. Hitherto both the motor shaft and the output shaft have been mounted in a housing which, for assembly reasons, only permits a sliding fit between the motor shaft and its bearings. In order to simplify the assembly and permit the desirable interference fit between the motor shaft and its bearings, provision is made for both bearings for the motor shaft to be arranged in a first housing part, which, when the shaft is installed, can be separated from and re-connected to a second housing part, in which two bearings for the output shaft are arranged.
