  • Patent number: 7526464
Abstract: A system and method of adaptive fuzzy networks is disclosed. Fuzzy networks comprise a network of computer-based objects and relationships among the objects, where the relationships may be by degree. The adaptive fuzzy network system provides functions for user interactions with the fuzzy network, including functions to modify the fuzzy network and to provide security and privacy controls. The adaptive fuzzy network system also provides functions to generate recommendations based, at least in part, on usage behaviors associated with the fuzzy network. Usage metrics associated the fuzzy network and its subsets are generated by the adaptive fuzzy network system, including metrics associated with people derivatively based on objects with which they are associated.

  • Patent number: 7526459
Abstract: An adaptive system applied to social network and process network applications is disclosed. These adaptive social networking and tagging systems, and adaptive process network systems, apply algorithms for monitoring user usage behaviors across a plurality of usage behavior categories associated with a computer-based system, and generating recommendations based on inferences on user preferences and interests based, at least in part, on usage behaviors. Additional functions for effectively and efficiently managing social and process networks, such as social network measurement and analysis features, community tagging functions, and process network recombination functions are also described.

  • Patent number: 7493294
Abstract: A mutually adaptive system is disclosed. The mutually adaptive system enables a plurality of constituent systems to interact and mutually adapt to their interactions. Adaptive recommendations may be generated and delivered from a first constituent system to a second constituent system based, at least in part, on interactive behaviors between the two systems. Delivery of these adaptive recommendations may include modification of structural aspects of the recipient constituent system. One or more of the constituent systems may include a representation of one or more people, and a first constituent system may include a representation of a second constituent system.

  • Publication number: 20080249967
Abstract: A method and system for generating adaptive explanations for associated recommendations is disclosed. The adaptive explanations comprise a syntactical structure and associated phrases that are selected in accordance with usage behaviors and/or inferences associated with usage behaviors. The phrases included in an adaptive explanation may be selected through application of a non-deterministic process. The adaptive explanations may be beneficially applied to recommendations that are associated with content, products, and people, including recommendations that comprise advertisements.

  • Patent number: 7375838
Abstract: A method for creating and managing customized print media through an enhanced content management process is disclosed. A print media customer, which may be an individual or organization, is profiled to determine content preferences. Profiling may be based on face-to-face or electronic surveys, Internet usage patterns, buying patterns, or other criteria. Content associated with the preferences is obtained and analyzed. Content affinities, or relationships between the content and other content in a content network, are determined, and may influence the print media produced. A history of the content is maintained, to ensure content is not duplicated. Both substantive and non-substantive content, such as advertising content, is used. Both the content and layout of the print media can be customized.

  • Publication number: 20070203872
Abstract: Adaptive applications of affinity propagation are described to facilitate effective and computationally efficient means of clustering computer-based objects such as items of content, and/or to determine exemplars associated with a set of objects. Affinity propagation is also applied by the present invention to define system user affinity groups and/or exemplar users. The present invention applies usage behaviors as a basis for influencing clustering through methods such as initializing exemplar attractor values based on usage behaviors and/or basing similarity values between pairs of objects or users on usage behaviors associated with system objects, or usage behaviors that are associated with, directly or indirectly, specific system users.

  • Publication number: 20070112712
Abstract: In accordance with the embodiments described herein, a method and system for adaptive knowledge lifecycle management, and methods for delivering adaptive knowledge lifecycle management services to customers, is disclosed. Adaptive knowledge lifecycle management provides a means for beneficially adapting knowledge assets and their collective structures over time. It also provides a means for generating an estimate of the value of knowledge assets and their associated organizing topologies, as well as providing a means to determine changes in value corresponding to changes to the knowledge assets and their associated organizing topologies.

  • Publication number: 20070073554
Abstract: A system and method for location-aware adaptive commercial processes is disclosed. Location-aware adaptive systems enable recommendations of products or services to be generated and delivered to a potential customer that are contextualized for the potential customer's location, as well as in accordance with inferences derived from captured usage behaviors associated with the potential customer. Multiple instances of the location-aware adaptive systems can collectively adapt over time. Novel sales processes can be based on the application of location-aware adaptive systems.
