Abstract: A system for handling a waste web initially forming a label web adhesively bonded to a carrier web which together comprise a web laminate. The waste web, having its undersurface adhesively coated, results upon the formation of labels from the label web such that the carrier web supports the labels. The system includes a separating roll for causing the carrier and waste webs of the laminate to travel along separate paths. The machine has a web treating roll about which the waste web passes in adhereing contact therewith, and a doctor blade removes the waste web from the treating roll as waste material.

Abstract: A cutting blade holder assembly has a first subassembly attachable to a machine frame and a second assembly coupled to the first subassembly and removable therefrom. A cutting tool having a circular outer contour is mounted on the second subassembly, and only one of the opposing sides of the cutting tool is supported via the first assembly such that the assembly is of narrower overall width permitting narrower strips to be slit from a web. A force applying mechanism acts between the first and second subassemblies for maintaining the subassemblies in a side-by-side relationship.

Abstract: A folding apparatus for delivering a web of paper or the like in zigzag folds has a cam assembly mounted on only one side of the edge of the web for oscillating the web guide channel devices which includes a rotary shaft located between the cam assembly and the guide channel devices. Abstract: A device for machining sheet like material comprises first and second substantially circular machining tools having peripheral machining edges. The tools are each mounted on a shaft for rotation about the shaft axis. At least one of the tools is provided with magnetic means used to force the two tools into continuous contact with each other at a machining nip during operation of the device.

Abstract: A knife cylinder for processing weblike material has at least one slot in its cylindrical surface for receiving a web cutting/perforating knife retained in place by a plurality of pressure medium cylinders distributed over the length of the knife. A rigid wall within the slot limits the extent of the pressure cylinders, and push rods extending through the wall may be provided for transferring pressure from the pressure cylinders to the knife.

Abstract: A device for releasably holding a core or the like relative to a drive shaft passing therethrough includes at least two clamping elements located within the core. Guide pieces are fixed to a ring disc which surrounds a ring connected to the drive shaft. These guide pieces allow the clamping elements to move radially relative to the drive shaft and hold the core. A friction brake is provided to brake the ring relative to the ring disc. Also, a locking pawl arrangement is provided to selectively prevent the ring disc from rotating with the drive shaft. Accordingly, back slipping is prevented which undesirably loosens the core from the clamping elements.
