  • Patent number: 5096408
Abstract: This invention discloses a continuously operating press having a pressing table, a pressing ram and flexible endless steel strips which are driven around the pressing table and pressing ram, respectively, and which draw the material to be pressed through the press. The press also has rolling bars which are disposed between the steel strips, and the pressing table and pressing ram, respectively. The rolling bars provide support to the steel strips and roll on roll platens which are attached to heated platens. The roll platens have surfaces which are heat treated and which have a precision ground finish and a Brinell hardness of 250.

  • Patent number: 5088398
Abstract: A continuously working press is provided wherein steel bands of at least 2 mm thickness are used, and the roller bars have a diameter of at least 20 mm, preferably 21 mm. The roller bars, at the end faces thereof, are mounted in guide chains driven by entry sprockets. The entry and feed sprockets, which are fixed on the same axis, of the table and press ram are controlled in a synchronized manner and, in each case with the same radius, enclose both the roller bars as well as the link sleeves or the protective rollers in such a way that the center axes of the top and bottom roller bars are in alignment with one another in the pressure direction.

  • Patent number: 5054388
Abstract: A continuous press is provided wherein the elastic forces are conducted centrically from the centering bolts into the vertical Y--Y axis and the longitudinal center of the guide chain. An accumulation of unilateral forces on the brackets of the guide chain is thereby avoided. The elastic forces, which are set up in the bearing bolts by the linear displacements of the rolling bars and are at times considerable, are thus conducted centrically into the guide sleeves and thus as a force centrically into the guide chain. The forces thus do not occur as an eccentric load on the guide chains and, consequently, are incapable of causing the destruction of the guide chains even with a relatively high load.

  • Patent number: 5044269
Abstract: A press is operable to form pressed materials such as fiberboard or chipboard. The press includes a press ram and a press platen facing one another to define a pressing region therebetween, and a plurality of rolling rods which support moving bands which draw the article through an entry region of the press and through the pressing region. An entry alignment device for the rolling rods includes first and second resilient pressure holding plates which impose a progressively increasing non-positive clamping force on the rolling rods as the rolling rods pass through the entry region, and first and second pilgrim-step mechanisms, each having a plurality of toothed members which are raised and lowered to periodically engage gaps formed between the rolling rods to impose a positive clamping force on the rods.

  • Patent number: 5042372
Abstract: A continuously working press is provided with a device which adjusts an entry gap in an entry region of a press ram to give the rolling rods of a press a sufficient degree of freedom for self-stabilization. The adjusting device includes an articulated crosshead anchored in said press frame and pivotable about an axis of rotation, a pressure holding plate located within said entry region and adjustable about an axis of rotation and which acts non-positively but resiliently on said rolling rods as they travel through the entry region, and a plurality of hydraulic supporting members located between the articulated crosshead and the pressure holding plate and which are adapted to act on said support device with a pressure profile that increases continuously towards said pressing region.

  • Patent number: 5035889
Abstract: A continuously working press is provided having a rolling rod conveyor connected to a guide chain, whereby in the critical entering arc and also in the tangential transition into the horizontal pressing zone the guide chain has the same arc dimension and secant dimension as the rolling rods, because they are guided coaxially with the same radius via entering gear wheels and lead-in gear wheels. Consequently, the orientation of the rolling rods orthogonal to the feeding direction is maintained. Furthermore, the rods are kept exactly equidistant during the transition from the entering arc into the horizontal pressing plane. Linear shifts are absorbed in an elastically compensating manner by bearing bolts composed of spring steel. The high spring forces which occur in the bearing bolts as a result of linear shifts of the rolling rods are absorbed in a compensating manner by thick sleeves and sextuple plate stacks of the guide chain.

  • Patent number: 5025652
Abstract: A collet surface structure is provided for a high-speed hydraulic press having collet interlock in order to eliminate leakage of oil into the clamping region. Furthermore, the formation of a harmful hydrostatic film thickness from the lubricating-oil film between the pressure rods and the collets is prevented, since the oil is immediately forced away due to the high clamping pressure between the clamping faces. These high clamping pressures result from the extremely short space of the lubricating-oil elimination grooves and the large capacity of the grooves. Thus, the oil-eliminating grooves are made large enough to eliminate reliably a hydrostatic oil film of at least 0.1 mm. This regularity is independent of the clamping diameter of the collet.

  • Patent number: 5019206
Abstract: A press apparatus is provided wherein the vacuum suction lifters, due to a swing-in movement, can be moved more quickly into the lifting position for attaching the finish-coated panel by suction and, due to the telescopic extension, can be accurately set to the statically best longitudinal positions for panels of various widths. By a positioning and drive device, rolling belt trays used according to the invention can be moved accurately at various positions into the press area in conformity with different panel widths. As a result of the construction members and measures according to the invention, the movable parts have been further reduced in weight, thereby permitting faster movements. Furthermore, this results in higher flexibility and greater operational readiness of the short-cycle installation when changing over to other panel widths.

  • Patent number: 4997514
Abstract: A laminated wood panel manufacturing device is provided for use with daylight presses. A pressure strip is arranged in a longitudinal direction of the press. Parallel upper and lower lids are attached to the pressure strip and extend in a transverse direction toward the press. The lids are vertically adjustable by means of adjusting screws. The pressure strip assembly is moved in a transverse direction of the press so that, during pressing, the upper and lower lids abut upper and lower board layers of a laminated stack to press the board layers together in a transverse direction of the press.
