Abstract: An active load circuit is interconnected between a signal source such as a pickup cartridge and an amplifier which acts as an impedance matching resistor. An equivalent resistance provided by the amplifier as viewed from the signal source equals a required resistance for impedance matching, and the noise voltage is considerably reduced as compared with that produced by a conventional matching resistor.

Abstract: An apparatus wherein a thermoluminescent type radiation dosimeter is heated and thermoluminant rays emitted from the dosimeter are measured. It is constructed in such manner that to perform the measurement a personal identification card must be inserted to the apparatus. The mark on the dosimeter and the mark on the identification card are collated, and only when they coincide with each other is the measurement performed.

Abstract: In conventional blood pressure measuring apparatus, the simultaneous measurement of a pulse rate and a blood pressure is difficult without the use of complicated attachment devices. In this invention, a pulse rate measuring circuit is provided along with a blood pressure measurement apparatus for a simultaneous measurement of both pulse rate and blood pressure. Both measurements are derived from at least one microphone signal contained in a cuff-device. The pulse rate measuring circuit is designed to commence counting of the number of pulses after at least two Korotkoff's sounds have been detected and continues counting until a predetermined number is reached while the time period required for counting the predetermined number of pulses is measured. The pulse rate is determined by dividing the predetermined number by the measured time period.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for suppressing color error components generated in a color television camera of the type in which color component signals representing first and second colors of a color image are recovered by utilizing a difference of phase relationship of modulated color signals, one of which changes in successive horizontal scan lines. In this apparatus and method, a color correction signal which indicates positions of color errors and provides preferred color error correction is produced from an unmodulated component of an output from a pick up tube by operating upon such component.

Abstract: The holographic recording system comprises a pair of aligned first and second Fourier transforming lenses, a holographic beam splitter having a series of random phase illumination holograms at a front focal plane of the first lens and arranged to move in a given direction to successively receive a light beam for deffracting it into a zero-order diffracted beam and a first-order diffracted array of sampled, phase shifted beams, and a mask having a first and second apertures disposed at the Fourier transform plane of the first lens. A page composer having electrooptical transducers is positioned in the second aperture to receive the first-order diffracted array of beams to spatially optically modulate the incident beams in accordance with one of successive groups of binary signals.

Abstract: A recorded signal reproducing system includes a signal generator circuit which produces a tracking control signal in response to an output from a detection circuit which detects that a difference between an output of a peak hold circuit which holds a maximum amplitude of an envelope of a reproduced signal from a rotary head for a relatively long period and an output of an envelope detection circuit exceeds a predetermined threshold. The tracking control signal is used to control the relative positional relationship between the rotary head and a magnetic tape for controlling tracking during the playback operation.

Abstract: A silicon oxide layer containing a group III element such as boron, aluminum or gallium is formed on a semiconductor substrate. The substrate is then heat treated at 600.degree. C - 1200.degree. C in a nitrogen atmosphere and a diffusion process carried out thereafter. In this manner, the impurity diffused surface of the semiconductor body is controlled to a low concentration not higher than 10.sup.18 /cm.sup.3 of the group III element. This is due to the fact that the silicon oxide layer containing the group III element (that is, the so-called doped oxide) is partly converted to a nitride in the course of an ammonia treatment resulting in an impurity source for the low concentration diffusion. The present method is useful in forming the base region of an NPN transistor, for example.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a film capacitor and a method for making the same. A capacitor element formed by rolling or laminating metalized films less than 3.5 microns in thickness has ends coated with ion plating to form block terminals so that the strong bonds between the ends of the capacitor element and the terminals may be obtained with the resultant decrease in contact resistance therebetween. In order to increase the mechanical strength of the terminals a conducting layer may be formed on the terminals by metal spraying, and in order to increase the bond the ends of the capacitor element may be subjected to etching prior to ion plating so that the roughed end faces offer teeth to which the metal terminals cling. Thus the present invention provides a film capacitor which is considerably compact in size, light in weight yet highly reliable and dependable in operation and inexpensive to manufacture.

Abstract: The present invention enables a decrease in etching velocity in an ion-beam etching system without decreasing the current density of the ion beam. The ion-etching is performed at a constant value of ion-beam current density and an increased partial pressure of oxygen or other suitable gas in the specimen chamber. The partial pressure of oxygen is increased until the intensity of a secondary ion-beam from the specimen reaches a saturation value. Under these conditions a stable reduced etching velocity is obtained, the value of which is determined by the ion-beam current density, the partial pressure of oxygen and the previously determined characteristics of the specimen.
