Abstract: A tape wrapping mechanism for a rotary head type VTR wherein a tape pulling post is provided on a rotary ring mounted rotatably on the outer periphery of the cylinder, a rotary ring is rotated so that the post rotates along the outer periphery of the cylinder to pull out the tape from the cassette and wrap it around the cylinder and the rotary force of the rotary ring is such that, when the magnetic tape is wrapped at a predetermined wrapping angle, a pinch roller is automatically pushed toward the capstan with the tape therebetween. With this mechanism, a state capable of recording and reproduction is realized and the abutment of the pinch roller against the capstan is automatically released by a reverse rotation of the rotary ring when switching from the recording-reproduction state to the stop state.

Abstract: A television receiver protection system providing X-ray protection to the viewer responds to rectified horizontal flyback pulses supplied to the gate electrode of a silicon controlled rectifier through a zener diode to trigger the silicon controlled rectifier into conduction when the high voltage level from the flyback transformer of the receiver becomes abnormally high. The silicon controlled rectifier is connected across the power supply for the horizontal oscillator, so that the horizontal oscillator is rendered inoperative when the silicon controlled rectifier becomes conductive.

Abstract: An induction heating apparatus comprising a pair of inversely parallel-connected gate-controlled switching devices connected to an alternating current source, a resonant circuit including an induction heating coil and a variable frequency gating circuit for firing the switching devices to generate oscillations through the conducting device and the induction heating coil. The switching devices are gated into conduction in succession in a first order during the positive half cycle of the alternating current and in a reversed order during the negative half cycle. A zero crosspoint detector is provided to inhibit gating when the source voltage is near zero crosspoint level and to control the gating frequency in accordance with the instantaneous value of the source voltage to increase the turn-off time of the switching devices for lower input source voltage.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a process for fabrication of dielectric optical waveguide devices by utilizing selective epitaxial growth. Concentrated energy such as an electron or laser beam is focused on a predetermined region on the surface of a substrate during the epitaxial growth with the application of molecular beams so that the mixed crystal grown in the irradiated region may have a chemical composition different from that of the mixed crystal grown on the non-irradiated region. Since this process permits to overlaying the embedded waveguides one upon another, complex optical waveguide devices can be fabricated in a simple manner.
