Publication number: 20060218361Abstract: An electronic storage device provides rapid data availability. The rapid data availability relates to sequences of reads and writes performed by the ESD responsive to critical events, such as power-up sequences or sequences of read and/or write operations. A sequence of reads is performed upon detecting a critical event. A record of reads to be performed is maintained in a reserved area of the disk. In the case of similar but different events, such as host power-up from an off state and host power-up from a hibernation state, different read and write sequences are performed for each scenario. Improvements to the sequence of reads and/or writes may be determined, thereby enabling the ESD to improve its response to critical events over time.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2005Publication date: September 28, 2006Applicant: Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Richard Ehrlich, Fernando Zayas

Publication number: 20060218324Abstract: The data communication protocols between a host and a device, such as SDIO and MMC, have been extended to include devices using embedded/external/portable HDD in addition to SD Memory Card and Multimedia Card. Instead of allowing only the host to unilaterally decide the data transfer size, embodiments of the present invention offer improvements over various ways data can be transferred under SDIO and MMC by allowing the host and the device to negotiate a data transfer size that both sides agrees upon similar to a hand-shaking protocol. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention. Other features, aspects, and objects of the invention can be obtained from a review of the specification, the figures, and the claims.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2005Publication date: September 28, 2006Applicant: Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co., LtdInventor: Fernando Zayas

Publication number: 20060153166Abstract: An IP telephone system includes IP telephone apparatuses and an ENUM server. The IP telephone apparatuses, connected to an IP network, perform a voice communication. The ENUM server stores NAPTR resource records containing file transfer protocols supported by the IP telephone apparatuses and returns the NAPTR resource records, responding to a query of the IP telephone apparatuses. In the IP telephone system, when receiving a voice communication instruction from a user of a source IP telephone apparatus the source IP telephone apparatus inquires the ENUM server for NAPTR resource records of a destination IP telephone apparatus. When receiving a file transfer instruction during a voice communication, the source IP telephone apparatus transfers a file to the destination IP telephone apparatus, using a file transfer protocol specified in the NAPTR resource records.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2005Publication date: July 13, 2006Applicant: MATSUSHITA ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD.Inventors: Kazuto KOBAYASHI, Akira MIYAJIMA

Publication number: 20060132962Abstract: The minor coherence-errors suffered during servowriting of bursts in a phase burst servo pattern may contribute to significant written-in runout of the resulting pattern. Embodiments of the present invention enables the servowriting of both the zig/zag bursts and/or the digital information of the phase burst pattern all in one single revolution so that the common coherence errors of the zig/zag bursts can be canceled during demodulation. Such single pass servowriting of both zig/zag bursts can be accomplished by either using additional phase-adjustment circuitry or by shifting the phase of the write clock to allow servowriting of the bursts and/or digital information all at edges of (different) integer clock cycles. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention. Other features, aspects, and objects of the invention can be obtained from a review of the specification, the figures, and the claims.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2005Publication date: June 22, 2006Applicant: Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co., LtdInventors: Richard Ehrlich, Maxim Roth, David Rutherford
