Patents Assigned to Matsushita Refrigeration Company
  • Patent number: 5452991
Abstract: A hermetic compressor includes a sealed casing which accommodates therein a compressing unit for compressing a refrigerant and a driving unit for driving the compressing unit. A communication passage is provided for establishing communication between the compressing unit and a discharge muffler. The discharge muffler is formed therein with a substantially annular hermetic passage for the compressed refrigerant introduced via the communication passage. In the substantially annular hermetic passage, the introduced compressed refrigerant is bifurcated in opposite directions. The substantially annular hermetic passage has an outlet in the discharge muffler. At the outlet, the bifurcated refrigerant joins and flows out of the substantially annular hermetic passage so as to reduce pressure pulsation of the compressed refrigerant by canceling pressure pulsation components contained in the bifurcated refrigerant.

  • Patent number: 5392849
Abstract: A layer-built heat exchanger has channels formed by dividers in a first-side plate 32 and a second-side plate 33. A seal plate 3 is interposed between the first- and second-side plates. The first-side plate 32 and second-side plate 33 are positioned relative to each other such that dividers 35 of the second-side plate 33 are in line with channels 36 of the first-side plate 32, and dividers 34 of the first-side plate 32 are in line with the channels 37 of the second-side plate 33, thus preventing deformation of the seal plate 3 due to a high differential pressure between the coolants flowing through the channels of the first- and second-side plates. The corners of the first-side plate 32, second-side plate 33, and seal plate 3 are also shaped differently so that omission of one of the component plates can be easily confirmed.

  • Patent number: 5391061
Abstract: A hermetic terminal cover is arranged to be mounted onto a hermetic terminal of, such as, a closed-type compressor. The hermetic terminal cover has terminal caps for covering respective terminal strips of the hermetic terminal. Each terminal strip includes a terminal pin fixedly passing through a metallic base with an insulator interposed therebetween. The terminal caps are mutually connected by flexible ribs each having a curved shape, and preferably an arc shape. Accordingly, each terminal cap has a high degree of positional or displacement freedom to facilitate mounting of the terminal cap onto the corresponding terminal strip. Further, each terminal cap has an increased thickness at a portion corresponding to an exposed surface of the insulator holding the terminal pin. Accordingly, adverse affection of metallic powders, such as, generation of short circuits and sparks between the terminal pins and the metallic base is effectively prevented.

  • Patent number: 5350777
Abstract: A method of producing an open cell rigid polyurethane foam which comprises reacting a polyol with a polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate prepolymer with a monool exemplified by diethylene glycol monomethyl ether by use of a substitute such as 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane or methylene chloride as a volatile blowing agent, or a mixture of the volatile blowing agent with water, for trichlorofluoromethane as a blowing agent in the presence of a catalyst, a foam stabilizer and a cell opening agent. The resultant open cell rigid polyurethane foam has a cell size of about 200-250 microns, and is suitable for use, for example, as a core material in a vacuum heat insulating material. The foam may be enclosed in a container under a vacuum of 0.1-0.01 mmHg readily attainable to provide a vacuum heat insulating material of a high heat insulating performance.

  • Patent number: 5316455
Abstract: The same number of grooves 20 through 27 are provided in end surfaces 19a and 19b of a roller 19. The grooves 20 through 27 have communicating portions 20a through 27a which communicate with an inner peripheral side of the roller 19 and sealed portions 20b, 20c, 20d, 20e, 20f through 27b, 27c, 27d, 27e and 27f each of whose cross-sectional area decreases. Accordingly, the cross-sectional area is decreased in direction in which a lubricating oil flows, and a plurality of oil pressures can thus be obtained. This results in a fixed clearance of roller 19.

  • Patent number: 5291742
Abstract: A deodorizing device is provided in a refrigerator. This device includes a tubular heater and a water droplet prevention member provided above the heater. The deodorizing heater is provided in an air circulation path and below a cooling coil. On the outer periphery of the heating portion of the heater, there is provided a catalyst coat layer for absorbing odor components. The water droplet prevention member is disposed immediately above the tubular heater so as to cover the heater to prevent water droplets falling from the cooling coil, defrosted by the heater, from falling thereon. When the heater is heated, the catalyst coat layer is heated directly by the heater, and the odor components having been absorbed therein are efficiently decomposed. The heat from the heater heats the cooling coil by convection for effecting defrosting thereof.

  • Patent number: 5224845
Abstract: A refrigerant circulation pump for circulating a liquid refrigerant through an air-conditioner has a small lubrication hole extending through a bearing by means of which a shaft for driving a compressor unit of the pump is rotatably supported. The lubrication hole communicates at one of its opposite ends with a compression chamber of the compressor unit, the other of the opposite ends communicating with a friction point between the shaft and the bearing. While the pump is operating, a part of the liquid refrigerant is fed under pressure from the compression chamber to the friction point between the shaft and the bearing, thereby lubricating the friction point. With this lubrication, the pump is able to operate reliably for a prolonged period of time without causing wear of the shaft and the bearing.

  • Patent number: 5205723
Abstract: A hermetically sealed compressor for use in household appliances such as refrigerators comprising an electric element and a compression element being resiliently supported within a hermetic container. The crankshaft is secured to a rotor of an electric element and supported by a pair of ball bearings. The crankshaft is comprised of a concentric principal part, a concentric secondary part and an eccentric axial part positioned between the principal part and the secondary part. The eccentric axial part is connected to one end of a connecting rod. In one embodiment, the eccentric axial part overlays all of the principal part and secondary part when seen in plan or projection view from the axial direction of the crankshaft. One of a pair of ball bearings is installed in each of the concentric principal part and secondary part respectively so as to support the load caused by the reaction of the compression load equally on each side of the axis along which the force of that load is exerted.

  • Patent number: 4990067
Abstract: A hermetic compressor according to the present invention has an improved operating efficiency for use in a cold storage chamber, freezing chamber or the like . The compression includes a suction pipe which is formed by a material having heat conductivity lower than that of a casing of the hermetic compressor so that heat of the closed casing is not easily transmitted to the suction pipe. In this manner heating of the drawn in cooling medium gas is inhibited, and thus, cooling efficiency can be improved by preventing discharge of a low density cooling medium into the cooling system through compression of the expanded cooling medium gas.
