  • Patent number: 6626295
Abstract: A tool case with an additional storage space, which is accessed from the inside of the tool case. The storage space may be fitted with various pre-assembled snap-in storage modules to provide the user with the flexibility of storing a wide variety of items in a wide variety of ways, depending on the user's needs. For example, the compartment may be fitted with a snap-in module comprising a series of rotating storage containers according to the preferred embodiment of the invention. Alternatively, the snap-in modules can comprise a series of sliding drawers, or a single rotating storage container, or any other tool or component holder. In the invention, a rectangular opening is defined within the inner surface of the box portion of the tool case. Interior walls project upwardly from the edge of the opening to preferably define a storage space which accommodates a snap-in module.

  • Patent number: 6572671
Abstract: In the invention, a stainless steel powder of the desired composition is either directly mixed with a h-BN powder, compressed and sintered or the stainless steel powder is compressed, impregnated with a solution containing h-BN and then sintered or compressed, sintered and then impregnated with a solution containing h-BN. The sintered bodies in all the aforementioned cases may be resin impregnated. Steel body formation may be done by traditional press compacting or, alternatively, by injection molding steel powder in molds (metal injection molding, MIM).

  • Patent number: 6520509
Abstract: A holder for holding a tool bit having an elongated connector means with a first end and a second end. The elongated connector means has a central longitudinal hole, of a cross-section corresponding to the cross-section of a mounting portion of the tool bit, at the first end, and a tool mount at the second end, and where the elongated connector means has a first circumferential groove adjacent the second end and a second circumferential groove adjacent the first end. A first sleeve is arranged to reciprocally slide over the connector between a first end position and a second end position, where the first sleeve has a third end facing the tool bit and a fourth end facing the hand tool.

  • Patent number: 6431801
Abstract: A drill bit for boring non-linear holes in a workpiece, the drill bit having a generally elongate post, for mounting the drill bit to a tool; a generally elongate shank; and a head. The head has a front portion, a rear portion and there between a main body portion. A plurality of flutes are arranged in a generally helical shape along the main body portion, arched with respect to a longitudinal direction of the drill bit, each flute having an outer cutting edge arranged on an outside edge of the flute, to provide cutting capability in a direction substantially sideways compared to the longitudinal direction of the drill bit. A central point, arranged on the front portion of the head, is connected to at least one flute via a tapered first cutting portion, the first cutting portion being provided with a first cutting edge, to provide cutting capability in a direction substantially forwards.

  • Patent number: 6332381
Abstract: Hex keys or like tools of various sizes may be inserted into the gripping aid, to provide a better grip and additional torque when using such tools. The device has an elongated body with hex key accepting slots at each end and longitudinal cavities of different dimensions for an arm of the hex key. In a preferred embodiment, a locking collar to secure the hex key in place in the body is provided. The locking collar has openings extending across its face which rotate from a hex key accepting position to a hex key locking position.

  • Patent number: 6322177
Abstract: The drop-bin unit has at least several bins arranged to pivot outwardly about a generally horizontal axis, from a closed position where outer faces of the bins are generally aligned vertically with each other, to an open position where the outer surfaces angle outwardly from their closed positions. The bins are stacked one above another within a housing, and are connected together, for example via at least one gang bar, such that pivoting one bin outwardly causes all of the bins to pivot outwardly in unison. The units may be sold separately, for use as stand-alone containers, or may be sold to be placed in a holder which holds one or preferably a number of the units. The holder can be sold with one or more of the units, or may be sold as a completely separate item. The holder can take a variety of forms. The units on their own or in holders provide flexibility for carrying job-specific items, avoiding the need to carry an entire toolbox to a particular job.

  • Patent number: 6283291
Abstract: The case for drill bits or the like provides automatic rotation a holder to an access position on opening the cover, without any linkage to the cover. The rotation may be by virtue of a molded or mechanical spring or other biasing means, such as springiness of a living hinge, for example. Each holder provides multiple holes into or through which drill bits or the like are inserted. The action of closing the cover moves the holders from their access position into a storage position, by contacting one or more of the holders, or one or more of the drill bits. The case can be a one-piece molded construction, or an assembly of various components, e.g. base, cover, holders, and removable stop walls. A locking bar may be provided to prevent removal of drill bits of the type having a recess in their shanks, and the locking bar may be movable between a locked and unlocked position, for example by closing or opening of the cover.

  • Patent number: 6241092
Abstract: A security mechanism adapted to a tool holder comprising a first member and a second member pivotally connected to the first, each of the members having a recessed portion defined on a mating surface to receive a portion of a tool shaft whereby a handle portion and/or other part of the secured tool is positioned outside of the security mechanism and the holder and is accessible to a user. The shaft security mechanism includes, preferably, a variable position locking means for securing the first and second members in the closed position in one of a number of locking positions. Preferably, a compressible insert slidably mountable onto the tool shaft portion may be inserted and registered into a cavity further defined by the recessed portions of the first and second members when the security mechanism is in an open position.
