Abstract: Using both quantitative MRI and quantitative MRS, the inventor demonstrates herein that as age and dementia progress, hippocampal volume (HV), amygdala volume (AV), and NAA/mI ratio all decrease compared to normal controls. The inventor's data also demonstrate herein that NAA/mI vs. total amygdala volume showed a very strong linear correlation, while NAA/mI vs. mean total hippocampal volume had a lesser but still significant correlation. Further, after analyzing the data derived from both quantitative MRI and quantitative MRS methods, the inventor made the surprising discovery that the two tests, when combined, provide significantly improved biomarkers over either alone, and are more effective at early MCI and/or AD diagnosis, as well as HS diagnosis.
Abstract: The present invention describes an apparatus, a system and a method for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. The treatment involves monitoring the position of the tongue and/or the force exerted by the tongue and electrical stimulation of the hypoglossal nerve to move the tongue into an anterior position or to maintain the tongue in an anterior position.
Abstract: The present invention provides a conjugate containing a moiety linked to a homing molecule that selectively homes to tumor lymphatic vasculature. The invention also provides a method of directing a moiety to tumor lymphatic vasculature in a subject by administering to the subject a conjugate containing a moiety linked to a homing molecule that selectively homes to tumor lymphatic vasculature.

Abstract: Neurite outgrowth-promoting prostaglandins (NEPPs) and other electrophilic compounds bind to Keap1, a negative regulator of the transcription factor Nrf2, and prevent Keap1-mediated inactivation of Nrf2 and, thus, enhance Nrf2 translocation into the nucleus of neuronal cells. Therefore, neuroprotective compositions and related methods are provided that employ such neuroprotective compounds, and prodrugs of such compounds, to cause dissociation of Nrf2 from a Keap1/Nrf2 complex.

Abstract: A method of forming a multielectrode array includes forming an alignment plate having at least two openings, forming an array bottom plate having at least two openings corresponding to the at least two openings of the alignment plate, temporarily fixing the array bottom plate to the alignment plate, inserting one or more probes or array sub-assemblies into the at least two openings, fixing the probes or array sub-assemblies to the array bottom plate, and removing the array bottom plate from the alignment plate to form a multielectrode array.
Abstract: A needle safety guard device adapted to attach to a liquid container is provided. The device includes a disk-shaped shield having a medial opening connected with a radial opening between two radial edges. The device also includes a substantially U-shaped holder having two sidewalls coupled substantially perpendicular to the disk-shaped shield along the two radial edges, and a top cover connecting to the two sidewalls and extending from the shield above the radial opening. The U-shaped holder includes a wedged protrusion and a curved protrusion extending from each of the two sidewalls, the curved protrusion being between the top cover and the wedged protrusion for blocking a cap of the liquid container from moving toward the medial opening.
