Abstract: Improved systems, system components, and methods for performing assays involving biological membranes and/or components thereof. Preferred luminescence test measurements are conducted using an assay module with integrated electrodes having biological membranes and/or components thereof immobilized thereon with a reader apparatus adapted to receive assay modules, induce luminescence, preferably electrode induced luminescence, in the wells or assay regions of the assay modules and measure the induced luminescence.

Abstract: Multiplexed test measurements are conducted using an assay module having a plurality of assay domains. In preferred embodiments, these measurements are conducted in assay modules having integrated electrodes with a reader apparatus adapted to receive assay modules, induce luminescence, preferably electrode induced luminescence, in the wells or assay regions of the assay modules and measure the induced luminescence.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods, reagents and compositions for conducting electrochemiluminescence binding assays which improve one or more characteristics of the assay or the instruments used to conduct the assay. The method is achieved using microparticles that include electrically conductive material. The electrically conductive material has one or more copies of an assay ligand immobilized an its outer surface and a plurality of electrochemiluminescent moieties immobilized an its outer surface. The assay ligand may be linked to the electrochemiluminescent moiety.

Abstract: Graphitic nanotubes, which include tubular fullerenes (commonly called “buckytubes”) and fibrils, which are functionalized by chemical substitution, are used as solid supports in electrogenerated chemiluminescence assays. The graphitic nanotubes are chemically modified with functional group biomolecules prior to use in an assay. Association of electrochemiluminescent ruthenium complexes with the functional group biomolecule-modified nanotubes permits detection of molecules including nucleic acids, antigens, enzymes, and enzyme substrates by multiple formats.

Abstract: Recent advances in surface techniques have lead to the development of extremely small (sub-micron) scale features. These techniques allow the formation of polymer micro-lenses as well as variable focus liquid lenses. The present invention primarily concerns the use of small scale lenses for the fabrication of novel displays which exhibit three-dimensional (3D) effects. Both still images and video images (or other motion images) can be generated.
