  • Patent number: 4280687
Abstract: A cutting machine for severing a moving strand portion includes an elongated support; the strand portion normally moves near the support in one direction of elongation thereof, and a carriage may be operably moved on the support in the one direction and in an opposite direction. A cutter is disposed on the carriage, and the movement of the carriage is synchronized with that of the strand by a rotatable roll in operative driven relationship from the strand. The rotation of the roll is selectively converted into a translatory motion of the carriage, so that the strand may be cut by the cutter, while it is moving in synchronism therewith.

  • Patent number: 4255257
Abstract: In a process for the treatment of water with ozone a partial current of treated water is contacted under pressure in a packed column with an oxygen-ozone mixture from an ozonizer to oxidize water contaminants and to improve their flocculation. The portion of oxygen which has not dissolved in the water in the packed column is recycled into the ozonizer and the treated partial water current is mixed again with water to be treated. The pressure in the column is adjusted in dependence on the nitrogen content of the water to be treated. By this measure is ensured that the quantity of nitrogen escaping from the water and contained in the cycle oxygen permits an optimum operation of the ozonizer. The nitrogen content in the cycle oxygen is preferably kept below 10% by volume.

  • Patent number: 4252654
Abstract: A process for the treatment of water in which at least a partial flow of the water is brought into contact under pressure in a packed column with an ozone-oxygen mixture from an ozonizer with the ozone and a portion of the oxygen being dissolved in the water and the undissolved oxygen being returned to the ozonizer and with the charged water being withdrawn from the column, includes branching off a partial flow from the column water to a water jet-gas compressor in which the ozone-oxygen mixture from the ozonizer is adsorbed and compresed and mixed with the partial flow after which the mixture of water, ozone and oxygen is led into the base of the packed column.

  • Patent number: 4220183
Abstract: In a method of preserving in a storage vessel a volumetric ratio of a calibrating gas mixture within a range from below 1 vpm to about 10,000 vpm, wherein the calibrating gas mixture includes a carrier gas and a predetermined trace of another gas, and the storage vessel has inner steel walls electroplated with a metal selected from the group of tin, zinc, nickel and lead, the selection depending on the mixture, the steps include introducing the gases into the storage vessel under relatively high pressure of not more than 200 atmospheres, storing the gases in the storage vessel, so as to preserve the volumetric ratio between the gases within a predetermined accuracy, transporting the gas mixture within the storage vessel, and discharging the calibrating gas mixture from the storage vessel while still retaining the volumetric ratio.
