Abstract: A power assisted liposuction/lipoinjection handpiece includes a handle (12) which provides power to reciprocate a cannula (10) back and forth during surgery. The cannula (10) can be connected to the handle (12) by a connector (24) that is affixed to, integrally formed with, or selectively joinable to a reciprocating member (14). Benefits in sterilization, distribution and surgical use can be realized when the cannula (10) and connector (24) are joined together, such that the surgeon merely needs to remove the cannula (10) from the package and connect it to a reciprocating member of a powered handle (12). The handle (12) may be configured such that the reciprocating member (14) is selectively detachable; thereby, allowing the handle (12) to be used for additional surgical procedures such as sawing or drilling. A vacuum hose (26) is connected to the cannula (10) such that vacuum pressure can be exerted through the cannula (10) for aspirating severed fat tissue.

Abstract: A pulsed lavage attachment (40) is secured to a conventional, powered, modular, surgical hand piece (42) to allow a pulsed lavage delivery set (18) to be connected to and controlled by the hand piece (42), thereby eliminating the need for dedicated air or power lines and a dedicated pulsed lavage hand piece in the operating room. The pulsed lavage attachment (40) includes an internal driver (52) which mates with an output driver of the hand piece (42) and is axially rotatable by the output driver. A cam driver (56) connected to the internal driver (52) by pegs or other suitable means, and is rotatable therewith, has a cammed surface (62). A bearing member (64) rides on the cammed surface (62), and drives shaft (66) in an axial direction. Membrane (68) flexes outward to actuate a connecter (24) of the pulsed lavage delivery set (18) to actuate an internal pumping cartridge therein.
Abstract: A surgical saw blade for removable mounting in clamps having rectangular lugs and in clamps having circular pins, by way of closed slots having semi-circular distal ends, and arranged to have the respective centers of the semi-circular ends about a pattern radius. Each slot has a side face forming an included angle with a radial line from the hub center to the center of the slot semi-circular end. The included angle is alternating in rotational direction or, with a common offset about the pattern radius of the semi-circular ends, is in an identical direction for each slot.
Abstract: A titanium bone screw has a centering hole located in the midpoint of the slot in the screw head. A screw driver blade with a centering pin is so dimensioned that the blade and tip respectively form interference fit with the slot and centering hole when the blade is inserted into the screw head.
Abstract: A non-constrained total joint prosthetic replacement device for metatarso-phalangeal joint. A first component comprises a convex-bearing surface and a rearwardly projecting stem configured to be received in the resected metatarsal bony shaft, and a second component includes a concave-bearing surface and a stem configured to be received within the resected phalangeal bony shaft. A non-bearing intermediate land offsets the convex-bearing surface of the first component from the stem, allowing a full range of anatomical motion notwithstanding the presence of bony overgrowth.
