Abstract: An initial resin substrate is formed by laminating resin layers, and one surface of the initial substrate is heated and pressed by a molding die to mold a projected and dented surface such that substantially no deformation occurs on the resin layer providing a surface opposed to the one surface of the initial substrate. A reversible image display medium is produced by a method comprising the steps of accommodating a dry developer into the concavities and fixing a second substrate to the first substrate using an adhesive. Alternatively a reversible image display medium may be produced by, e.g.

Abstract: In order to carry out a printing operation without waiting for a while in the case in which a printing device receiving printing job data cannot execute the printing operation for some reason, a plurality of printing devices (100) which are network-connected are formed into groups based on a processable language and one of the printing devices belonging to the same language group is caused to act as a managing printing device. The managing printing device receives a status signal from all the printing devices belonging to the same language group, and distributes the printing job data transmitted from the printing device to the other printing devices belonging to the same language group when any of the printing devices cannot carry out the printing operation. In this case, one printing device for supporting a plurality of languages can be set as a managing printing device which is common to each group.

Abstract: An optical element manufacturing method has a preparation step of preparing a lower mold and an upper mold. The lower mold has an outer shape restricting surface for the optical element. A reference surface formation step of forms a positioning reference surface on a rim of the optical element by heating the outer shape restricting surface of the lower mold and dropping molten glass onto the lower mold surface so as to collide with the lower mold surface and spread to be in contact with the outer shape restricting surface. A pressing step forms the two opposed optical function surfaces of the optical element by pressing the glass. A temperature of the outer shape restricting surface in the reference surface formation step and the pressing step is higher than a temperature which is 100° C. less than a glass transition temperature (° C.) of the glass.
Abstract: An image reading apparatus reads a multi-page original document and obtains multiple sets of image data, creates virtual combination information that indicates the interrelationships among the obtained multiple sets of image data, separately sends the obtained multiple sets of image data and sends the virtual combination information. Consequently, the computer that received the multiple sets of image data and the virtual combination information can recognize the received multiple sets of image data as separate sets of image data, while associating the received multiple sets of image data with one another.
Abstract: Recipient information is allocated to a transmission box in the image processing apparatus based on the header information in the e-mail sent from the external terminal. Scanned image data is stored and linked to the same transmission box. Subsequently, based on the recipient information, the image data is sent to the recipient as an attachment to an e-mail addressed to the recipient. Because the recipient information and the image data are linked via the transmission box, it is not necessary to simultaneously designate the recipient and input the image data. Therefore, the operation panel of the image processing apparatus need not be occupied for a long period of time.

Abstract: A data transmission apparatus capable of transmitting image data to a recipient using recipient's desired transmission parameters regardless of whether the recipient resides inside or outside an intranet to which the apparatus is connected, wherein the recipient is requested via an e-mail to designate the desired transmission parameters through the most appropriate transmission medium that is set in consideration of the recipient's location. Specifically, the transmission medium is set to a Web browser if the recipient resides inside the intranet to which the apparatus is connected, while it is set to an e-mail if the recipient resides outside the intranet.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus has first and second processors for performing first and second processings for image data received by a communication device. A data processing apparatus instructs for the image processing apparatus to execute the first and second processings for image data. When the image data and the instruction therefor are received, the image processing apparatus performs the first and second processings, and sends the image data processed by the second processor to the data processing apparatus, which replaces the received file with the transmitted file.
Abstract: In a network system to which a plurality of computers and a plurality of input-output apparatuses are connected, a layout diagram showing locations of the input-output apparatuses is displayed on a display unit and icons each representing one of the input-output apparatuses are displayed over the layout diagram at locations corresponding to the locations at which the apparatuses are actually installed. The user clicks one of the icons representing a desired one of the input-output apparatuses by using a device such as a mouse in order to specify the desired apparatus. As a result, a desired input-output apparatus can be selected correctly.
Abstract: Switches SHS and RSM are turned on to hold an image signal at a negative electrode of a capacitor Cs, then a switch SHN is turned on to hold a noise signal at a positive electrode of a capacitor Cn. Then a switch RSP is turned on and then a switch MIX is turned on to combine together the image and noise signals thus held and thereby produce, as a voltage signal, a noise-free image signal at the node between the capacitor Cs and the switch MIX. Then a switch Sx is turned on to output the noise-free image signal.

Abstract: In a solid-state image-sensing device, when an image sensing operation is performed in each pixel, a MOS transistor T1 is turned on and a MOS transistor T4 is turned off to make a MOS transistor T2 operate in a subthreshold region. When a reset operation is performed in each pixel, the MOS transistor T1 is turned off and the MOS transistor T4 is turned on to feed a constant voltage to the gate and drain of the MOS transistor T2. Then, the MOS transistor T4 is turned off, then the voltage at the node “a” is reset, and then a pulse signal ?V is fed to a MOS transistor T5 to obtain an output. By using the thus obtained output as compensation data, variations in sensitivity among individual pixels are reduced.
Abstract: Disclosed is a monitor device for a moving body such as a vehicle, aircraft or vessel, moving at a certain speed. The monitor device displays an image of a front scene of the moving body with the image of the central area being enlarged in accordance with the running speed of the moving body such that condition of a far away portion can be recognized accurately. A zoom ratio calculating section determines a zoom ratio in accordance with running speed of the moving body. The area of image to be displayed is selected in accordance with the zoom ratio and the image of the selected area is displayed on a display screen in an enlarged form. A specially designed distortion lens may be used to take the picture of the front scene to form an image of the scene with its central area being optically enlarged.
