  • Patent number: 7474766
Abstract: In an encoding unit 100 for encoding a motion image are provided a corrector 121 scene determiner 122, correction data generator 123, and scene change detector 124. The scene change detector 124 detects a scene change in a motion image based on a differential image during encoding, and the detection result is input to the scene determiner 122. The scene determiner 122 determines details of the scene of an image after a scene change using a predicted image from the movement compensator 116, and the correction data generator 123 determines the correction method based on the result of the scene determination. The corrector 121 executes corrections by the set correction method until a next scene change is detected. In this way the correction method is updated only when a scene change is detected, thereby executing suitable correction and reducing the quantity of calculation necessary for correction.

  • Patent number: 7468843
Abstract: A display apparatus which has a mirror with a free curved reflective surface of which curvature fluctuates with inflection points, a liquid crystal display (LCD), a back light and a polarizer. Light of an image which was modulated by the LCD is reflected by the free curved reflective surface and passes through the polarizer. Then, the light is directed to an optical pupil. Since the curvature of the free curved reflective surface fluctuates with inflection points, curvature of field and distortion can be corrected properly, and an image of high quality can be formed.

  • Patent number: 7454507
Abstract: Upon reception of a data transmission request, an image input device 1 searches for transmission means available for transmission to a destination, such as transfer to FTP server or transmission by e-mail, and lists all the extracted available transmission means. Image input device 1 then creates a selection menu executed as an applet for receiving a selection of transmission methods from the destination. The destination can use the selection menu acquired from image input device 1 to designate the priority order of desired transmission means and a file name in reception of transmitted data. The selection menu thus created is transmitted to the image input device 1.

  • Patent number: 7454060
Abstract: In image processing of a document having image data of a document including an image with character images on a background image, the character images and the background image thereof are separated. First, areas in correspondence to the character images from the image data are extracted, and character code data are generated based on the extracted areas in the image data. On the other hand, the character image in the image data is replaced with the background image. The character images are reproduced with reference to the character code data at the positions of the character images. On the other hand, the original character images are deleted from the image data. The character images on the background image is complemented based on the background image data. Then the character images based on the character code data and the background image thereof are synthesized.

  • Patent number: 7447730
Abstract: An image forming apparatus such as a copier and an air conditioner communicate with one another in a network. The air conditioner provides information regarding ambient temperature and/or humidity to the image forming apparatus. Based upon this information, the image forming apparatus selectively activates systems within the apparatus that regulate its internal temperature and humidity levels, to thereby achieve power savings. The image forming apparatus provides information regarding its operation state to the air conditioner. The air conditioner uses this information to adjust its heating or cooling operations to compensate for the heat generated by the image forming apparatus when it is operating.

  • Patent number: 7437017
Abstract: In accordance with an image processing method, a data region is detected from input image data. The input image data is rotated in accordance with inclination of an image. Determination is made whether the data region of rotated image data protrudes from an image area of the input image data. When detection is made of protruding, the smallest area including the data region is extracted from the rotated image data. When the data region of the rotated image data protrudes from the image area of the image data previous to rotation, the smallest region including the data region of the rotated image data is extracted from the rotated image data. Therefore, loosing information from image data subjected to rotational correction can be prevented. Also, the amount of image data subjected to rotational correction can be minimized.

  • Patent number: 7436975
Abstract: In an image reading apparatus, a user ID is input as login information pertaining to the user who implemented reading of the original document. The user ID is embedded in the image data created from the original document data as an electronic watermark, and the image data is sent to a PC. The PC that receives the image data reads the user ID from the image data. If the user ID read from the image data matches a user ID entered by a user who issued a printing command, the PC issues a print command regarding the image data. Otherwise, printing is prohibited. Through this processing, printing of the image data is permitted only for the user who implemented reading of the image data.
