  • Patent number: 8630392
Abstract: The present application relates to software on phones for displaying local times of distant parties as to allow users of the software to shape their behavior based on the social and business expectations related to those local times. Local times are retrieved by communicating with a directory number information service. The directory number information service can receive a user identifier from a phone application identifying a remote party. The service can retrieve a location of the remote party identified by the user identifier. The service can determine a local time of the remote party based on the remote party's location and provide the local time to the phone application for display. Social statuses can also be provided. The phone can create a call log for incoming calls made by remote parties. The calculated local time can be used for updating software on the phones.

  • Patent number: 8547223
Abstract: The system provides approximations of a person's location to interested parties wherein the approximations are based upon a detection device's location and inherent inaccuracies related to that detection device. The system can evaluate location information from multiple detectors and approximate the location using and combining that information. The system can provide a confidence level for that determination. The system can also degrade confidence levels assigned to the location as a function of time. Each location can include a hierarchy of subtypes with each subtype including a precision level, the precision level associated with an accuracy level of a detector involved for placing a person within that particular location. When a detector receives location information, the system described herein can traverse through the locations and their associated precision levels to approximate the correct type of location within the hierarchy using the accuracy level of the detector.

  • Patent number: 8537994
Abstract: A system granting access to application data and methods thereof are provided in the present disclosure. Application data can be sent that can be utilized by applications resident within a telephony switching system or end devices involved in a call. When the calling party dials the called party, the switching system can be triggered to substitute a database key into the calling party number. The switching system can use the act of making the call to enable permission for the called party to access the data referenced by the database key. The telephony switching system, having provided the key, is capable of mapping the key back into the original calling party number. This allows the calling party number, through the database key, to be stored as a contact or dialed from a call log, which can provide backwards compatibility to devices that do not support this feature.

  • Patent number: 8515488
Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to mobile subscriber identities for mobile devices, and more particularly, to dynamic assignment of International Mobile Subscriber Identities (IMSIs) to reduce roaming and overuse charges. Instead of using a reprogrammable embedded Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card for remote activation of a device, mobile carrier charges, such as roaming and over limit usage fees, can be significantly reduced by reprogramming SIM cards dynamically from a pool of available mobile accounts. A smaller pool can be utilized to meet the needs of a large group, rather than a one-to-one association implemented within today's phones. Resource usage can be tracked and as one account reaches its maximum, a new account can be assigned to the mobile device to prevent overuse charges. Existing FMC concepts can insure single number inbound or outbound caller identification regardless of the name or number associated with the SIM card for the mobile device.
