  • Patent number: 5442608
Abstract: A disk apparatus comprising a controller receiving commands from a command input device and controlling an entire operation of the disk apparatus. The rotating control function is coupled to the controller for controlling the first motor. The pickupmotor control function is coupled to the controller for controlling the second motor. The pickup control function is coupled to the controller for controlling a focusing operation and a tracking operation of the pickup. And the signal processing function is coupled to the controller for processing a recording signal to be recorded on the disk-shaped recording medium and a reproduced signal read out therefrom. The controller is comprised function-stop function for determining whether or not any command is received from the command input device during a predetermined period of time in a state.

  • Patent number: 5291345
Abstract: An apparatus for applying a magnetic field has a permanent magnet, pivotally supported, which has an approximate cylindrical shape, respective semicircles of a circular section thereof being magnetized as N and S poles, and a driving coil, located in the vicinity of the permanent magnet so that the permanent magnet can partially penetrate inside the loops of the driving coil, the rotation and the positioning of the permanent magnet being controlled by the strength and/or directions of current flow in the driving coil. The apparatus is used for a magneto-optical disk storage. Since the driving coil is close to the permanent magnet, the pivoting of the permanent magnet can be controlled with a fast response. In addition, the apparatus can be made relatively small.

  • Patent number: 5278819
Abstract: A disk storage device includes a head part which writes data into a storage disk loaded into the disk storage device and reads data from the storage disk, a linear actuator moving the head part in radial directions of the storage disk, an eject member which is operated when the storage disk is ejected, and a movement mechanism which moves the storage disk to an eject portion in response to an operation of the eject member and which moves the storage disk to a read/write position. A lock part, which has a lock member cooperating with the movement mechanism, keeps, in response to the operation of the eject member, the head part stationary at the eject position by the lock member which engages with one of the head part and the linear actuator.

  • Patent number: 5236522
Abstract: In an Fe-base alloy, Ni is contained by 28 to 34% by weight and Co by 2 to 7% by weight with an average grain size of 30 .mu.m or less. 60 to 95% of crystal grains are oriented in a range of .+-.5 to 45 degrees deviated from the ideal orientation of {100} [001]. Resultant low thermal expansion of the alloy assures high doming characteristics of a shadow mask made thereof.

  • Patent number: 4788852
Abstract: The gas and water content of crude oil flowing through a pipeline is measured using a flow restriction in the pipeline, a radioactive source for providing separate radiation energies for each component to be measured, a detector for detecting the radiation transmitted by the various components to generate a first set of signals, pressure gauges upstream of and in the flow restriction for providing a second set of signals, and a signal processor for correlating the signals to provide mass flowrate values indicative of the relative proportions of the components of the mixture. The temperature of the mixture in the flow restriction can also be measured and fed to the signal processor for ensuring that accurate values of flowrate are obtained when temperatures vary.

  • Patent number: 4595457
Abstract: An aqueous slurry comprising fibrous particles of a heat-resistant aromatic polymer and short fibers made of said polymer or insulating inorganic short fibers, or a mixture thereof, is made into a wet web and, after adjusting the water content to 50 to 95 weight %, said wet web is laid up in a desired number of layers, and then the laminate is dewatered and dried for integration under pressure at a temperature not exceeding the softening point of said aromatic polymer, thereby obtaining an oil-impregnatable insulating board with high strength and capable of uniform impregnation of oil therein.
