    Abstract: An apparatus for simultaneously treating a plurality of cords for use in power transmission belts. The apparatus has a heating chamber, heated air in the chamber, and a guide system for simultaneously guiding a first cord in a first predetermined path and a second cord in a second predetermined path through the heating chamber. The guide system has at least a first roller with a first axis and first structure for causing the first cord and the second cord to move at least partially around the axis of the first roller progressively axially relative to the first roller as the first cord moves in the first predetermined path and the second cord moves in the second predetermined path through the heating chamber.

    Abstract: A power transmission belt having a body with a length, an inside, an outside, and at least one rib on the inside of the body. A canvas layer is provided on the outside of the body. The canvas layer is a plain weave canvas made up of cotton fiber and synthetic fiber which are present in a proportion such that there is at least as much synthetic fiber as there is cotton fiber in the canvas layer. The canvas layer has warp and weft yarns, each with center lines which cross to be biased with respect to the length of the body. The canvas layer is adhered to the body without performing a tentering treatment on the canvas layer.

    Abstract: An apparatus for treating a cord for use in a power transmission belt. The apparatus has a guide system for guiding a cord in a predetermined path and a processing liquid application system including a receptacle for a discrete amount of a processing liquid. A container defines a reservoir for a supply of processing liquid. There is a discharge opening on the first container for communicating processing liquid from a supply of processing liquid in the first container reservoir to the receptacle. With a first predetermined amount of processing liquid in the receptacle, the predetermined path extends through the processing liquid in the receptacle. With the discharge opening blocked, the first container reservoir is air tight. A first structure is provided for mounting the first container in an operative position on the apparatus wherein processing liquid in the first container reservoir flows by gravity to the discharge opening.

    Abstract: An oven for continuously heating a cord, which oven has a housing defining an internal space for treatment of a cord. The housing has an inlet and an outlet communicating with the internal housing space and between which a cord being heated passes in a predetermined path. A heating chamber is defined within the internal housing space through which a cord being heated travels between the housing inlet and outlet. A first partition within the internal housing space is located beneath at least a part of the predetermined path and defines an upper wall of a hot air supply chamber within the internal housing space. The first partition has an elongate slit therethrough that resides beneath, and extends parallel to, the part of the predetermined path through which slit air in the hot air supply chamber is communicated to the heating chamber. An inlet opening in the housing communicates heated air to the hot air supply chamber.
