    Abstract: A phthalocyanine represented by the formula (1) ##STR1## wherein each of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 is independently an alkyl group substituted by 0 to 5 halogen atoms and having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group substituted by 0 to 5 halogen atoms and having 2 to 20 carbon atoms or an alkynyl group substituted by 0 to 5 halogen atoms and having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, and at least one of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 is substituted by the halogen atom; X is a halogen atom; each of k, l, m and n is independently a value of from 0 to 3; each of o, p, q and r is independently a value of 0, 1 or 2, and all of them are not 0 simultaneously; each sum of k and o, l and p, m and q, and n and r is independently in the range of from 0 to 4; Met is two hydrogen atoms, a di, monosubstituted tri, disubstituted ter metal atom or an oxymetal atom. The above phthalocyanins can be used to provide optical recording medium.

    Abstract: A transparent panel heater which can be used for heating a window portion of liquid crystal displays, refrigerated showcases, freezed showcases, defrosters of windshields, and the like. The panel heater has a transparent substrate, a transparent conductive film formed on the substrate, a substantially light-transmittable metallic electrode-underling-layer formed on the transparent conductive film and a pair of metallic electrodes which are provided for electrifying the conductive film and formed on the electrode-underlying-layer. The transparent conductive film is a laminate of at least one transparent thin layer made of a nitride and/or a carbide and at least one substantially light-transmittable metallic layer. The transparent conductive film and electrode-underlying-layer are preferably formed by a dry process, and the electrodes are preferably formed by a wet plating method.

    Abstract: An actuator unit for shifting a lock lever of a vehicle door lock device between a locked position and an unlocked position comprises a housing having a reversible motor, an inside lever disposed inside the housing and being shiftable by the motor, and a key lever disposed inside the housing. The inside lever has a first shaft whose outer end extends through the housing and is connected to the lock lever. The key lever has a second shaft whose outer end extends through the housing and is connected to a door key cylinder. The first and second shafts being coaxial with each other but protruding in opposite directions. The inside lever has a third shaft coaxial with the first shaft and the key lever has a hole for supporting the third shaft. The actuator unit has first detecting means provided inside the housing for detecting a position of the inside lever, and second detecting means provided inside the housing for detecting a position of the key lever.

    Abstract: A method for preparing 1,3-dihydroxy-4,6-bis?.alpha.-methyl-.alpha.-.alpha.(4'-hydroxyphenyl)ethy l!benzene represented by the following formula (1): ##STR1## comprising the step of initiating a reaction of resorcin with 4-isopropenylphenol in a mixed solvent which comprises a non-polar solvent and a polar solvent in the presence of an acidic catalyst. The method can easily be handled, ensures a high yield, permits the reduction of impurity content and can provide highly pure 1,3-dihydroxy-4,6-bis?.alpha.-methyl-.alpha.-(4'-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl!benze ne. The resulting phenolic compound is useful as, for instance, a branching agent for polycarbonates, polyesters or the like; a raw material for radiant ray-sensitive components for use as resist materials; a raw material for epoxy resins; and a hardening agent for epoxy resins.

When the first gears and the second gears are rotated by the motor, the swingable member is rotated due to the engagements of the second gears and the rack members against the resilient force of the return spring so that one of the first gears is engaged with the drum gear.

At least one quantity-measuring recessed part is formed in the slide surface of the rotor. In accordance with the rotation of the rotor, the quantity-measuring recessed part comes to communicate with the powder feed part, so that powder is fed from the powder feed part into the quantity-measuring recessed part. When the rotation is advanced, the quantity-measuring recessed part comes to communicate with the powder drop part, so that the powder drops from the quantity-measuring recessed part through the powder drop part into a high-pressure part 19 arranged thereunder.

Heated air is led into the apparatus body through the heated air inlet port. A stirred fluidized layer is formed in the portion of the apparatus body above the heated air inlet port, and a moving layer is formed below the heated air inlet port.
