  • Patent number: 11507694
Abstract: An electronic device includes one or more sensors capturing media content while the electronic device is situated at a media content capture location. A user interface receives user input requesting transmission of the media content to another electronic device at a user input reception location. A location detector determines whether the media content capture location and the user input reception location are substantially different locations. One or more processors at least temporarily preclude, in response to the user input, the transmission of the media content to the other electronic device when the location detector determines that the media content capture location and the user input reception location are substantially different locations.

  • Patent number: 11508276
Abstract: In aspects of adaptive user interface display size for curved display edges, a wireless device has a display screen with curved display edges to display a user interface that includes selectable elements, which are selectable to initiate respective device application actions. The wireless device implements a display control module that can determine a display size of the user interface effective to prevent the selectable elements of the user interface from being displayed within a curved display edge of the display screen. The display control module can then resize the user interface according to the determined display size, and initiate to display the user interface on the display screen, where at least a portion of the user interface is displayable within the curved display edges of the display screen and without the selectable elements of the user interface being displayed within the curved display edge of the display screen.

  • Patent number: 11507169
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing power and data usage in a mobile electronic communications device entail detecting a sleep state of a user of the device, and entering an idle mode when the sleep state of the user is deep sleep, wherein the idle mode restricts device CPU and network activities to exclude user-centric operations. When the sleep state of the user changes from the deep sleep state, the device exits the idle mode and enters an operative state to execute any pending user-centric operations.

  • Patent number: 11508348
Abstract: Systems and methods of providing improved directional noise suppression in an electronic device implement a technique that specifies a direction or speaker of interest, determines the directions corresponding to speakers not lying in the direction of interest, beam forms the reception pattern of the device microphone array to focus in the direction of interest and suppresses signals from the other directions, creating beam formed reception data. A spatial mask is generated as a function of direction relative to the direction of interest. The spatial mask emphasizes audio reception in the direction of interest and attenuates audio reception in the other directions. The beam formed reception data is then multiplied by the spatial mask to generate an audio signal with directional noise suppression.

  • Publication number: 20220318026
Abstract: A device property control system determines whether a current user of a device is an owner of the device, a trusted secondary user of the device, or an untrusted secondary user of the device. The system maintains device property values for the owner as well as each trusted secondary user of the device. When the current user of the device changes, the system determines whether the current user is the owner or a trusted secondary user and if so changes the device property values to those previously used by the owner or one of the trusted secondary users (whichever is the current user of the device). However, if the current user is an untrusted secondary user, the device property control system changes the device property values to demonstration mode device property values that are expected to best demonstrate the capabilities of the device.

  • Publication number: 20220319352
Abstract: A demonstration mode control system of a device receives and analyzes audio at the device. This audio includes, for example, a conversation between two or more users, such as an owner of the device and another (secondary) user. The system analyzes the conversation and determines whether a user intent is to have a secondary user of the device assess features of the device. In response to determining that the user intent is to have the secondary user assess the features of the device, the system automatically enters a demonstration mode for the device including running a demonstration program that highlights features of the device. The demonstration mode optionally includes changing device property values for the device to demonstration mode device property values that are expected to best demonstrate capabilities of the device.

  • Patent number: 11463616
Abstract: An automatic mirror mode system determines when a user is facing a display device and is close to the display device, and when the intent of the user is to activate a mirror mode of the computing device. In response to determining that the user is facing the display device and is close to the display device, and that the intent of the user is to activate a mirror mode of the computing device, the computing device automatically enters the mirror mode. In the mirror mode, one or more images are captured using a front-facing camera and are displayed on the display device. This allows the user to, for example, check his teeth or hair before meeting someone, entering a meeting, and so forth.
