  • Patent number: 11343372
Abstract: A method, a mobile device, and a computer program product enable capacitive proximity sensing in a mobile device. The method includes determining, by a controller of a mobile device, whether the mobile device is participating in an active phone call. In response to determining that the mobile device is participating in an active phone call, the method further includes determining if an ear speaker mode of the mobile device is enabled. In response to determining that the ear speaker mode of the mobile device is enabled, the method further includes activating a driven shield to at least partially shield a capacitance sensor from sensing object capacitance at a second side of the mobile device that is opposed to a first side with the ear speaker.

  • Patent number: 11343169
Abstract: For duplicating PDCP PDUs for a radio bearer, methods, apparatus, and systems are disclosed. One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver for communicating with a network. The processor establishes a radio bearer to communicate with the network, the radio bearer including a PDCP entity, first and second RLC entities associated with said PDCP entity, and first and second logical channels associated with said first and second RLC entities, respectively. The processor receives a control signal from the network and submits a PDCP data PDU in the PDCP entity to the first RLC entity for transmission. In response to the first control signal, the processor submits the PDCP data PDU to the second RLC entity for transmission. The processor indicates to one of the first and second RLC entities to discard a duplicate PDCP data PDU corresponding to a successfully delivered PDCP data PDU.

  • Patent number: 11340296
Abstract: A solid state switch (SSS) monitoring system of an electronic device includes a SSS sensing component that is electrically coupled to a solid state switch. The SSS sensing component periodically generates a clocked pulse that polls the solid state switch. The SSS sensing component determines whether an electrical characteristic of an output of the solid state switch indicates that the solid state switch is actuated. The SSS sensing component generates a switch state signal to indicate a corresponding one of an actuated and an unactuated state of the solid state switch. A controller is communicatively coupled to the SSS sensing component. The controller restarts the SSS sensing component in response to determining that the SSS sensing component is in an inoperative state.

  • Publication number: 20220150571
Abstract: A media content recording system receives one or more media content streams, such as a video content stream and an audio content stream captured at a computing device. The system also records sensor data collected by one or more sensors of the computing device, such as touch sensors or movement sensors. The system generates a synchronized media content by synchronizing the one or more media content streams with the sensor data. The media content recording system, or a media content playback system, uses the synchronized media content to generate playback content that illustrates inputs to or movement of the computing device while receiving the media content, synchronized with the media content. This playback content is then played back, allowing another user to see, synchronized with the audio or video content, what locations of the computing device the recording user touched or how the recording user moved the computing device.

  • Patent number: 11323553
Abstract: An electronic device includes a first device housing and a second device housing. A hinge couples the first device housing to the second device housing. The first device housing is pivotable about the hinge relative to the second device housing. The hinge separates a first chamber defined by the first device housing and a second chamber defined by the second device housing. A flexible substrate passes through the first chamber and the second chamber. The flexible substrate spans the hinge, either by passing through or around a hinge housing. The flexible substrate deforms to a curvilinear deformed state within one or both of the first chamber or the second chamber when the first device housing and the second device housing pivot about the hinge from a closed position to an axially displaced open position.

  • Patent number: 11317053
Abstract: A method in an electronic device includes detecting, by one or more processors from a first video stream captured by an imager, one or more images being presented by a remote display of an external electronic device. The method includes receiving, with a communication device operable with the one or more processors in response to the detecting, a second video stream comprising the one or more images being presented on the remote display. The method includes replacing, by the one or more processors on a local display of the electronic device, presentation of the first video stream with the second video stream. This works to eliminate visual distortion due to differences between the refresh rates of the display and remote display or asynchronous nature of the clocks in the electronic device and the external electronic device.

  • Patent number: 11317147
Abstract: An electronic device includes one or more sensors capturing media content from an environment of the electronic device. One or more processors, operable with the one or more sensors, determine whether the media content is private media content. The electronic device includes a private data store and a public data store. When the one or more processors determine the media content is the private media content, the one or more processors store the private media content in the private data store and preclude transmission of the private media content from the private data store to another electronic device. When the one or more processors determine the media content is other than the private media content, the one or more processors store the media content in the public data store and permit transmission of the media content to the another electronic device.

  • Patent number: 11316969
Abstract: An electronic device includes one or more processors. When a first sensor delivers a first signal to the one or more processors indicating that the electronic device is in a stowed state, and a second sensor delivers a second signal to the one or more processors indicating that the electronic device is in a held state the one or more processors query the third sensor for a third signal indicating whether the electronic device is in the stowed state. The one or more processors perform a control operation when the third signal fails to indicate the electronic device is in the stowed state. The one or more processors omit performance of the control operation when the third signal indicates the electronic device is in the stowed state.

  • Patent number: 11308923
Abstract: An electronic device, method, and computer program product enable orienting a user interface on a display device to a detected orientation of a face. The display device presents the user interface in a default display orientation. An image capture device captures an image. A memory contains a display orientation application. A controller is communicatively coupled to the display device, the image capture device, and the memory. The controller executes the display orientation application to enable the electronic device to provide functionality of orienting the user interface. The image captured by the image capture device is received and a face is identified within the image. An orientation of the face is determined relative to the default display orientation of the display device. At least a portion of the user interface is presented on the display device in a second display orientation that correlates to the orientation of the face.

  • Patent number: 11301028
Abstract: A device includes a thermal mitigation system that operates to reduce performance of a component of the device to prevent the device from getting too hot. The system uses a combination of a time-based technique and a temperature-based technique to perform thermal mitigation. The time-based technique refers to using an indication of the device usage as well as the amount of current drawn by the device at any given time to predict an amount of time that the device is to run in a non-reduced performance mode before reaching a target temperature threshold, and an amount of time for the device to run in a reduced performance mode to cool down. The temperature-based technique refers to monitoring the temperature of the device (or a component of the device) and powering off the device in response to detecting that a monitored temperature exceeds a critical threshold temperature.
