  • Patent number: 6252312
Abstract: A circuit configuration for a direct-voltage power pack of an electronically controlled switching device, particularly of a small programmable control system, which is externally supplied with voltage, having an arithmetic-logic unit, signal inputs and signal outputs. This circuit has a back-up supplier for the backup supply of the supply voltage and a detector for detecting the input voltage which is not backed up, the detector interacting with the arithmetic-logic unit in such a way that, in response to any voltage failure, the signal inputs are reliably prevented from being read in.

  • Patent number: 6124558
Abstract: A rotation activated circuit breaker with a leading auxiliary switch, in which the auxiliary contacts of the auxiliary switch are actuated before the main contacts. An actuator element is provided, which contains a drive pinion that is rotation actuated by an actuating mechanism and a longitudinally movable first gear rack, which engages with the drive pinion and actuates the auxiliary switch. Furthermore, a second gear rack, which lags behind the first gear rack in the closing direction, and an output pinion, assigned to the second gear rack, which is connected to a drive shaft for the breaking mechanism of the circuit breaker, are provided. The tooth pitch of the output pinion and the second gear rack is greater than the tooth pitch of the drive pinion and the first gear rack so that the total rotation angle of the drive pinion and output pinion is the same over the full closing motion of the actuating mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6087609
Abstract: A arcing chamber housing is disclosed for a circuit breaker with a double turning contact breaker. The arcing chamber housing (1) is composed of two housing modules (2, 3) and an extinguishing chamber (19) is arranged in the area of the fixed contact pieces (6, 7) to extinguish the arcs which are formed between the contact pieces of the double turning contact breaker. In order to obtain a arcing chamber housing (1) which is easy and economical to produce, with extinguishing chambers (19) which have a reproducible extinguishing behavior once the arcing chamber is assembled, the two housing modules (2, 3) are substantially L-shaped parts whose inner marginal surfaces (4, 5) face each other. The first parts (17, 18) of the housing, which correspond to the first branches of the L-shaped housing modules (2,3), are designed as extinguishing chambers (19). Also disclosed are the housing modules (2, 3) used to produce such a arcing chamber housing.

  • Patent number: 6084191
Abstract: In a circuit breaker utilizing a toggle link mechanism, the reset operation is facilitated. A block link including a reset pin, a first hole and a second hole is provided. The reset pin is inserted into a circular arc shape third hole formed concentric with the rotation of a trip lever formed at a secured frame. An actuating pin of a handle lever is inserted into the first hole. A shaft provided at a movable contact holder is inserted into the second hole. By this mechanism, the friction in the reset operation can be reduced to allow the reset operation to be perform by a smaller force. As a result, an auxiliary handle is not required. The handle and electrical operation devices can be reduced in size. Also, the operating handle is prevented from moving to the OFF position when the switching contacts are welded.

  • Patent number: 6054912
Abstract: A trip device of a main circuit breaker is provided which causes only a branch circuit breaker to be set into a tripped state when an abnormal current occurs at a load of the branch circuit breaker while keeping a closed state of the main circuit breaker. The trip device of the circuit breaker has a structure including a trip latch mechanism for opening switching contacts, a stationary core, a movable core which is attracted to the stationary core to release the latch mechanism of a trip lever, an operating pin for interrupting movement of the movable core while the movable core is attracted, an operating spring charged with force when the movable core is attracted, and an inertia roller holding the operating pin, kicked when the operating spring discharges the force, and moved to a position which does not interrupt movement of the movable core. Accordingly, this structure allows a selective tripping system to be implemented simply with small size and low cost.

  • Patent number: 5940547
Abstract: An electric power distribution switching device including a detector for detecting accidental arcs in the electric power distribution switching device, which detector includes at least one waveguide in which the light generated by the arc and reaching it via its casing is used as a triggering or warning criterion. The detector can include a support rod, a waveguide wound helically around the support rod, and two plug connectors fitted at the ends of the support rod. The detector also includes a heat-shrink sleeve which is permeable to light and UV radiation. The heat-shrink sleeve is fitted over the support rod, the waveguide and the plug connectors. • Patent number: 5898148
Abstract: A switch has at least one fixed and one moving contact located on a contact arm. The fixed contact is connected to a loop-shaped conductor segment, such that when current flows through the conductor segment, there is an electrodynamic magnetic force which acts on the contact arm. The force, above a specified current intensity, results in an opening movement of the contact arm. To open the moving contact more rapidly and in a simple manner the loop-shaped conductor segment is realized so that it is wound in a coil shape, and consists of at least two turns, and that the coil axis of the coil segment runs perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the contact arm.

  • Patent number: 5811749
Abstract: An electrical switch is intended to prevent hot arc gases from contacting the terminal screw units. The arc gases are to flow off in an already deionized manner so that no damage is caused even when they flow out towards the electric cable terminals without the need for additional shielding for the terminals. A terminal cover section is designed with blow-out channels which are fully encapsulated with respect to the terminal screws and to the terminal chambers and have an outlet aperture each. To fully encapsulate and provide access to each of the terminal screws, a location dome passes through each blow-out channel. At the points where the through apertures join the quench chambers, the inserted terminal cover section is sealed against the separating wall of the housing in the region of the blow-out channel inlet apertures. The arc gases flow from arc quenching chambers through a partition by way of passage openings.

  • Patent number: 5781990
Abstract: In order to make it easier to wire controls or switch cupboards and to economically reduce the probability of wiring errors, the ready-for-use cable is tied to a sequence of interconnected cables. In order to produce the sequence of ready-for-use cables, their insulation is stripped off between the cables, the cables are soldered by ultrasonic waves and notched. The cable sequence matches the wiring sequence of an apparatus to be later wired. In addition, the insulation is designed as a collar or bead at the ends of the cables.
