  • Patent number: 7862347
Abstract: An electrical connector having a plurality of connector units each having a pair of columns of edge coupled differential signal pairs separated by a ground shield terminal. The ground shield terminals each face a different signal pair of terminals in an adjacent column. Notwithstanding the different size and configurations of the ground and signal terminals, the terminals have mounting tail portions that are disposed in a uniform array different from the arrangement of the body portions of the terminals of the connector unit. The mounting tail portions are of a reduced length which benefit the electrical performance of the connector where it meets its supporting circuit board.

  • Publication number: 20100325882
Abstract: A power interconnection system comprising a plurality of z-axis compliant connectors passing power and ground signals between a first circuit board to a second circuit board is disclosed. The interconnection system provides for an extremely low impedance through a broad range of frequencies and allows for large amounts of current to pass from one substrate to the next either statically or dynamically. The interconnection system may be located close to the die or may be further away depending upon the system requirements. The interconnection may also be used to take up mechanical tolerances between the two substrates while providing a low impedance interconnect.

  • Publication number: 20100322564
Abstract: An optical ferrule assembly is disclosed. The optical ferrule assembly comprises a ferrule body, a notch part, a retainer and an annular member. The ferrule body includes an optical fiber loading hole extending therethough in a longitudinal direction. The notch part is formed in the ferrule body and has a flat surface which receives the optical fiber loading hole. The retainer is arranged in the notch part and has a lower abutting surface opposing to the flat surface and an inclined abutting surface formed on one end side of the lower abutting surface. The annular member fits on an outer periphery of the ferrule body. When the annular member is brought into contact with a portion of an outer peripheral surface of the retainer on one end side thereof, the inclined abutting surface is opposed to the flat surface, and the lower abutting surface is inclined to the flat surface and separated from the flat surface.

  • Patent number: 7845985
Abstract: A connector includes a housing with a set of broad-side coupled terminals configured to engage a pair of signal traces on a first panel and a second panel and transfer signals between the signal traces on the first and second panels. The connector may be slid onto the edges and then fastened to one or both of the panels with a locking feature. Multiple signal pairs may be included in the connector and may be electrically separated. The design of the connector helps facilitate high-speed data communication per signal pair with a return loss performance that does not exceed at predetermined level. Certain configurations of the connector may be used for co-planar configurations. Certain configurations of the connector may couple together panels of different thicknesses.

  • Publication number: 20100297872
Abstract: A relay connector for connecting together two free ends of flat flexible cable (FFC) is provided with an insulative housing that has a body portion with two open ends that receive free ends of the FFC. The housing includes a terminal assembly disposed in its mid-section and this terminal assembly includes a base with terminals embedded therein. The terminals extend length-wise through the base and have their body portions held by the terminal assembly base so that free ends of the terminals are free to deflect under pressure. The terminals are formed so that their free ends extend at a slight upward angle. A sheet of a thermoplastic adhesive is interposed between the terminal assembly and the housing. Free ends of the FFC are pressed into alignment with the terminal ends under heat and pressure so that the adhesive becomes plastic and flows between the terminals into contact with the FFC. Once the adhesive cools and solidifies, the two free ends of the FFC are connected together.
