Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for support and off-loading. The system includes an inner bladder filled with a flowable composition. An outer bladder filled with a flowable composition is positioned adjacent to the inner bladder. The composition of the inner bladder has greater flow characteristics than the composition of the outer bladder. The inner bladder micro-contours to the received body part and the outer bladder macro-contours to the inner bladder after the inner bladder is micro-contoured to the received body part. Alternatively, the system provides a pair of ultra low pressure plenums and a positioner. The patient body size and size and corresponding surface area of the positioner control the amount of gas which is displaced evenly against the walls of the ultra low pressure plenums.
Abstract: A medical dressing for application at a treatment area of a human body is provided. The dressing comprises a border area surrounding a central inspection area which is intended to be placed over said treatment area. The dressing also comprises a pad which may be arranged in the central inspection area and may be at least partly removed from the central inspection area for enabling visual inspection of the treatment area. There is also provided a medical dressing system and a method for reducing the workload for nursing personnel.

Abstract: A medical dressing is provided. The dressing has a central portion and a border portion, and comprises a backing layer, an adhesive body contact layer and a pad arranged in the central portion between the backing layer and the adhesive body contact layer. The pad is symmetric about a longitudinal center line and the dressing comprises a lobed portion on each side of the center line. The medical dressing comprises a gripping tab which is coplanar with the border portion and which projects outwardly from the border portion. The medical dressing may be used for pressure ulcer prevention, such as at the sacrum region of a human body.

Abstract: This relates to a wound therapy device, including an outer part and an inner part facing surface provided with an inner part facing opening, and a first connection channel to establish fluid communication between the inner part facing opening and a connector opening adapted to be connected to an external device. The wound therapy device can also be a part of a wound therapy arrangement, which can further include, a wound filler, an external device, a wound cover film, and tubing connections. Methods of using the wound therapy arrangement are also disclosed.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for sacral and trochanteric support and off-loading. The system provides a ultra low pressure plenum and a positioner. The patient body size and size and corresponding surface area of the positioner control the amount of gas which is displaced evenly against the walls of the ultra low pressure plenum to allow the combination of the ultra low pressure plenum and the positioner to slightly lift a patient from a bed surface, thereby offloading the sacrum and trochanter. The positioner can be an ultra low pressure bladder.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a mattress system in which a ultra low pressure plenum is positioned within the mattress system. In one embodiment, the ultra low pressure plenum is a bladder which is sandwiched between layers of a foam material. A plurality of ultra low pressure plenums formed as columns extending longitudinally or laterally along the length of the mattress system can be used.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of attaching a medical device to a surface, the medical device having at least one adhesive area, wherein the method comprises the steps of: contacting the surface with a composition comprising a T silicone resin and/or a DT silicone resin and/or an MQ silicone resin and/or an MT silicone resin, thereby providing non-tacky coating on the surface; and attaching the adhesive area to the surface such that the composition is located between, and in contact with, the surface and the adhesive area, thereby attaching medical device to the surface; thereby achieving an improve adherence between the medical device and the surface.
Abstract: The present invention provides a polymer fiber comprising a thermoplastic polymer comprising the following building blocks A and B: —O—(CH2—CH2—O)n— (A) —O—[CH2]y—O— (B), wherein n is an integer of 10-400, and y is an integer in the range of 2 to 16, wherein A is present in an amount of 15-30 mole %, B is present in an amount of 20-40 mole % and wherein building blocks A and B are linked by the following linking group C: —[(C?O)—NH—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—NH—(C?O)]— (C) wherein C is present in an amount of 45-55 mole %. The present invention further relates to a method for preparing a polymer fiber, absorbent articles comprising a polymer fiber and the use of a fiber in a product for treating wounds and/or burns.
Abstract: The present invention relates at least in part to devices which are capable of indicating the presence of moisture.
