Patent number: 5071399Abstract: A method is provided for constructing a mailer type business form in a continuous manner so that an easy opening tear strip is provided in both the outgoing and return envelopes. This allows not only the addressee of the outgoing envelope to readily remove its contents, but allows the addressor of the outgoing envelope--when the return envelope is received thereby--to readily retrieve the contents of the return envelope. This substantially enhances the utility of the ultimate mailer product. Desirably, the tear strips are formed by a slit and perforation in the bottom sheet of each of the outgoing and return envelopes, and within the mailer the tear strips are parallel to each other. An insert is also typically provided between the top sheet of the outgoing envelope and the top sheet of the return envelope, and is pasted to outgoing envelope at the left and right.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1990Date of Patent: December 10, 1991Assignee: Moore Business Forms, Inc.Inventor: Robert E. Patent number: 5061233Abstract: Fan folded business forms are compacted so as to provide the maximum run time, and minimum operator effort. The system includes a folder, transfer table with compacting conveyor, and wheeled cart with a backstop on it. The backstop is continuously pushed along the cart by the compacting forms until it reaches a position at the end of the cart, at which time a cart full sensor operates an alarm and/or shuts off the folder. The compacted forms on the cart may be easily moved to any desired location. Forms may be fed either printed side up or printed side down into another piece of equipment. The main surface of the cart on which the forms travel with their fold lines engaging the main surface, may be manually tilted about a horizontal axis after the cart is full, so that the end of the cart from which forms are to be withdrawn is elevated. This provides efficient withdrawal of forms while minimizing curling of the forms.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1990Date of Patent: October 29, 1991Assignee: Moore Business Forms, Inc.Inventors: Elmer G. Patent number: 5055153Abstract: A business forms assembly and method of forming is provided wherein a continuous web defines a plurality of successive form sets and wherein the web is divided longitudinally by a slit indicator line to define adjacent form parts for each set. Carbonless transfer technology is employed, such that a back side or undersurface of one form part (the upper part) is coated with carbonless microcapsules, while a front side or upper surface of the adjacent form part (the lower part) is coated with a co-reactant resin coating. The arrangement permits variable information to be printed on the adjacent form parts as the web passes through a non-impact printer. Thereafter, the web is longitudinally slit, separating the adjacent form parts which are thereafter interstacked so that the coating on the undersurface of the upper form part lies in full surface engagement with the coating on the upper surface of the lower form part. The respective form parts may then be adhesively secured.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1990Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Assignee: Moore Business Forms, Inc.Inventor: Michael W. Anderson
