Abstract: An image (a still image or a frame of a video) is divided into macroblocks. The content of a macroblock is predicted based on the content of other macroblocks that are spatially or temporally close to the instant macroblock. The prediction is compared against the actual macroblock content to yield a residual value. The residual is then transformed by a discrete cosine (“DCT”) transformation. The resulting DCT coefficients are grouped into subbands. The subbands are encoded using embedded zero block bitplane coding (“EZBC”), and the EZBC output is sent to a decoder (usually on a device remote from the encoder). The EZBC output is also decoded by a subband-dequantizer process whose output coefficients are fed into an inverse DCT to reconstruct the residual signal. The reconstructed residual is used to refine the coding process.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for modifying resource usage by a computing system including a first environment and a second environment is disclosed. A status signal is received and applications executed by the first environment and by the second environment are monitored. The status signal may indicate whether the computing system is coupled to an external device. It is determined whether a first application is executed by the first environment and by the second environment. Responsive to determining the first application is executed by the first environment and by the second environment, an amount of resources allocated to the first application by each of the environments is calculated. Based on the first amount of resources allocated by the different environments, execution of the first application by the first environment or by the second environment is halted.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes determining a set of elements rendered in a three dimensional (3D) space. Geometry information for the set of elements is determined based on a position and an orientation of each element of the set of elements in the 3D space. Then, bounding box coordinates for a bounding box are determined based on the geometry information. A viewing direction is determined that is being used to view the set of elements in 3D space. The method calculates at least one or more portions of edges of the bounding box that are determined to be not visible if viewed from the viewing direction in the 3D space and renders the bounding box in the 3D space with the at least one or more portions of edges hidden using the bounding box coordinates.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method determines a first plane in a plurality of planes that is active for placing elements in a three dimensional (3D) space. A changing of a viewing direction of the first plane in the 3D space is detected. Abstract: A method and system that mitigates data session degradation over a radio link connection with an end server by allocating resources at a wireless communication device based on real-time radio frequency (RF) channel conditions. A performance tracking and resource allocation (PTRA) logic monitors radio access bearer (RAB) configuration and radio link quality for communication links between the WCD and the end server. The PTRA logic sets a maximum transmission unit (MTU) size parameter to a pre-established size associated with the measured radio link quality. In response to detecting a change in the RAB configuration, the PTRA logic performs a real-time round trip time (RTT) measurement utilizing individual RTTs associated with packet segments transmitted at a lower protocol layer. In addition, the PTRA logic modifies at least one of a transmission control protocol (TCP) receive window (RWIN) and a TCP transmit window (TWIN) using the real-time RTT measurements and RAB configuration.

Abstract: A method for rendering elements in a browser includes determining a first element and a line grid element to be rendered in three dimensions (3D) in the browser. The browser treats individual elements as having independent 3D spaces in the browser. The method transforms and projects the first element into a 3D space for the browser in which lines of the line grid element will be drawn. Geometry information for the first element in the 3D space is determined after the transform and projection into the 3D space. The positions are calculated in the 3D space to hide lines of the line grid element based on the geometry information for the first element and geometry information for the lines of the line grid element. The method renders lines in the 3D space in the browser, wherein portions of the lines are hidden based on the calculated positions.
